Vladimir Putin is a fascist thug of the same class as any low-class without morals or humanity Nazi.

In 1994, Russia signed a treaty with Ukraine promising its sovereignty and protection from war and nuclear attack threats. In addition, Great Britain, the United States of America, and Russia were all joint signatories with Ukraine of the “Belgrade Memorandum on Security Assurances.”

The “Budapest Memorandum on Security Assurances” [BMSA] comprises three identical political agreements signed at the OSCE conference in Budapest, Hungary on 5 December 1994 to provide security assurances by its signatories relating to the accession of Belarus, Kazakhstan and Ukraine to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT). The memorandum was signed initially by three nuclear powers: the Russian Federation, the United Kingdom and the United States. In addition, China and France gave somewhat weaker individual assurances in separate documents.

But what is certain is that Britain, the US, France, Russia, and China all gave Ukraine security guarantees. Now that Russia has invaded Ukraine, made nuclear threats, and gone on a war footing and is attempting to overthrow the government, the signatories owe Ukraine the promised protection against Russia. Perhaps that is why Putin will not allow the incursion to be called a war or invasion; he says it is a military action to fight Nazism and rescue the Ukrainian people.

Putin had a trial run at grabbing Ukraine when he took Crimea and got a slap on the wrist and some weak sanctions which had little effect. He conquered Crimea quickly because numerous Russian people within Crimea helped the process. He thought the subsequent invasion on a grand scale of Ukraine would be as easy, a three-day incursion and a smack on the wrist, thinking he would be able to shrug off the sanctions. He was so wrong about all of that.

When the Crimea was grabbed, about 40% of the land was redistributed, much of it going to the Russian generals, and it is said Putin had a booty allocation of 22,000 acres of prime farmland.

The BMSA memorandum prohibited the Russian Federation, the United Kingdom and the United States from threatening or using military force or economic coercion against Ukraine, Belarus, and Kazakhstan. As a result of other agreements and the memorandum, between 1993 and 1996, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Ukraine gave up their nuclear weapons. [Defense Threat Reduction Agency. pp. 101–134, 186. Putin is relying on the cowardice of the leadership of the United States, Britain, and France. He also depends on the friendship and alliance of the Chinese not to interfere in his war or assist Ukraine. Putin did not bargain for the strength of the Ukrainians and their refusal to submit. Putin now warns the world in cloaked terms that he will nuke those who interfere or assist Ukraine. His share of the Ukraine booty is also a conflict in his KGB trained mind.

Instructing the Russian military to attack a sovereign country and to kill men, women, and children indiscriminately is a crime against humanity, a massive war crime. Moreover, the purposeful bombing of civilian infrastructure and housing, hospitals and schools compounds that these actions are war crimes.

His hatred for Ukraine’s head of state, president Zelensky who happens to be Jewish, is one of the aggravated and underlying reasons Putin attacked Ukraine. Under previous Soviet rule, Jews in Ukraine were grossly persecuted and denied emigrating. They were forced to hide much of their religious practice in a society rife with antisemitism and people like Putin. The KGB was trained in the craft of abusing Jews.

After the Soviet Union collapsed, up to 80% of the persecuted Ukrainian Jews left for Israel and elsewhere. Those who remained are elderly and poor. Unfortunately, some others are disconnected from their Jewish heritage, perhaps from the numerous centuries and decades of persecution and slaughter, first by the Christian Church and then the Russians.

Anyone who has never experienced a football game or any sports gathering in Russia will not know how thugs spit on, punch, and verbally abuse any poor black students or anyone different from them attending. Yet, that is precisely the attitude that Putin has bred into him. He has the thug and bully boy behaviour he has tried to control, but now it has bubbled to the top, and he has broken out of his restraints.

In 2017 in Russia, several leading Jews were forced to leave their country of birth after being forced to leave under Putin’s orders, saying they were a danger to the state.

Putin is a thief; his state salary as President of Russia has been tiny, around $135,000 US a year. Yet, he has become the richest man globally in a short twenty years. Every Russian Oligarch had to pay him 50% of their wealth, a wealth that they had stolen from the state at the time of the fall of the USSR. They took over the state-owned companies, mainly by bully tactics, or sleight of hand, companies worth millions and billions for a handful of rubles and a deal with Putin on the side. About half of the Oligarchs are Jews, and those are the main ones that Putin took the wealth from, “give me half, or I will take it all.” They have been a pain in Putin’s side, and most of them live somewhere other than Russia but are still under the thug control of Putin, his chalices of poison can be found on every continent, not just in London and Salisbury.

The thuggery of the man has spilt over into Europe from time to time with the speciality poisoning of those opposed or talk about him. His Kremlin KGB trained killers team has killed dozens of Russian journalists, and you are either for him or die. In Russia, he has all his opponents jailed on pretend charges.

Anyone calling the current invasion of Ukraine a war or an invasion is under the threat of a fifteen-year jail term. Any Russian demonstrating will be scooped up from the streets and get five years of the hard-labour sentence. Things are worse today than during the USSR communist years of atrocities.

Ever since 2014, when president Zelensky was elected, Putin’s dirty trick department has been giving out propaganda to damage the government and work up to more Russian hatred for jews inside Ukraine and Russia. First, they claimed Zelensky was the head of an antisemitic government, remember he is a Jew. Putin now claims that Zelensky’s government is a Nazi organization, that does not figure with a Jewish leader either. Recently captured Russian soldiers are saying during interrogation that they were told they were in Ukraine to fight Nazis. Putin has even openly declared the Nazi claim on TV, and the shame is some of his followers believe him.

All the Jews mainly live in cities have been hit hardest by indiscriminate bombing of schools, hospitals, and private housing. 80% of all damage is inflicted on the people and the essential amenities. Small towns are overrun and looted by Russian soldiers who have no gas or diesel and, by stealing, are emptying the food shops to quench their hunger. They were sent to war with only three days’ supplies and used as Putin’s cannon fodder.

I blame the leadership of Europe and America for allowing the man to continue and by dealing with him knowing he is a thug, a killer, a crook, now a war criminal.

Now Putin is holding the whole world hostage with the threats of nuclear strikes.

The US has got itself a half-witted president, Joe Biden, who hardly knows what day of the week it is. He cannot cope with tying his shoes up, much less the crisis in Ukraine. The Democrats have a collection of Marxist indoctrinated politicians who side with Russia and have stopped the US from producing the oil that America and the world need.

Unless the US wakes up, they will be nuked, and Putin will continue to get rich from the Russian oil and gas bonanza. Playing his game and being frightened fuels his ego and worsens things. Someone has to stand up to him and say, if you nuke us, every country in Nato will nuke Russia, and you in particular. Get a no-fly zone going; we owe that to Ukraine. Heap even more sanctions and hardships on Russia, turn all the taps off as tightly as possible, even a drip is quenching for the thirsty.

Message to America: During the second world war, America only came in when attacked at Pearl Harbor. Up until that time, you sold the allied countries munitions and armaments. The war was being lost, and you were willing to accept that Jews were being slaughtered by the millions. You did not fight until you yourselves were attacked. Please do not play that game again with Ukraine, do not wait until you are attacked before you help those that need to be helped. Money and munitions are not enough. We old people remember the leadership cowardice of that time and how the war was almost lost due to the USA wanting to sell arms but not wanting to put boots on the ground. Today, the difference is that if you are attacked, you may not have a chance to save yourself or your allies because a first strike nuclear attack may well knock you out instantly. It will be nothing like Pearl Harbor where you get a second chance.

  1. Putin is aware the West lacks the appetite to deal with soaring oil prices and the negative effect it will have on capitalist economies. He has the experience of Crimea and dealing with global sanctions. He has been preparing for this challenge for years. If China continues to covertly support all the better.

  2. LOL
All the above about Putin is true.
Unfortunately, the precedents for what he is currently doing have been set by the VERY countries the writer is calling on to address the wickedness.
When innocent Iraqis, Libyans and Syrians among others were being ‘shocked and awed’ into the 19th Century – on OBVIOUSLY false pretenses, and in fact, to control their OIL resources ….Bushie missed the righteous outrage.
Certainly the CNN and BBC journalists had NO sad stories about Iraqi women and children who were traumatized by their wicked actions against THOSE innocents.
    There is a Bajan saying…
one-smart dies at two-smart’s door …. and Karma still has lots of work to do, so Bushie fully expects that the situation will deteriorate.

But there is no doubt that ‘two-smart Putin’ will meet his three-smart end in the fullness of time, cause Karma is a boss – and night runs until day arrives.

The REAL tragedy is that, despite all this chaos, ordinary people still refuse to see the real big picture – That life is much much more than the mundane issues of materialism, power and wealth…. and that the battle is not about flesh and blood, but spiritual, and real.

    ☯️ Yin Yang
In Chinese philosophy, the rhythm of life, which pulsates through the universe, is the action of complementary principles Yin and Yang. The T’ai-chi T’u diagram (above) illustrates this principle. The symmetrical disposition of the dark Yin and the light Yang suggests cyclical changes.
Yin is the quiet, female, intuitive, receiving force that is associated with earth. The earth is the source of life; it provides us with what we need to survive. Yang is the strong, male, creative, giving force that is associated with heaven. The heaven above us is always in motion and brings about change.
When Yin reaches its climax, it recedes in favour of Yang, then after Yang reaches its climax it recedes in favour of Yin. This is the eternal cycle. The dots inside the white and black halves indicate that within each is the seed of the other. Yin cannot exist without Yang and vice versa.
The ideal state of things in the physical universe, as well as in the world of humans, is a state of harmony represented by the balance of Yin and Yang in body and mind.

    The Tao Te Ching
= tao (the way) = te (strength/virtue) = ching (scripture)

    -1-
The Tao that can be spoken of is not the eternal Tao. The name that can be named is not the eternal name.
The nameless is the beginning of heaven and earth. The name is the mother of the ten thousand things.
Send your desires away and you will see the mystery. Be filled with desire and you will see only the manifestation.
As these two come forth they differ in name. Yet at their source they are the same. This source is called a mystery.
Darkness within darkness, the gateway to all mystery.

    -2-
All under heaven see beauty as beauty only because they also see ugliness. All announce that good is good only because they also denounce what is bad.
Therefore, something and nothing give birth to one another. Difficult and easy complete one another. Long and short fashion one another. High and low arise from one another.
Notes and tones harmonise with one another. Front and back follow one another.
Thus, the True Person acts without striving and teaches without words. Deny nothing to the ten thousand things.
Nourish them without claiming authority, Benefit them without demanding gratitude, Do the work, then move on.
And, the fruits of your labour will last forever.

    -3-
Not exalting the talented prevents rivalry. Not valuing goods that are hard to obtain prevents stealing. Not displaying desirable things prevents confusion of the heart.
Therefore, the True Person governs by emptying the heart of desire and filling the belly with food, weakening ambitions and strengthening bones.
If the people are simple and free from desire, then the clever ones never dare to interfere. Practise action without striving and all will be in order.

-4- The Tao is like an empty bowl, yet it may be used without ever needing to be filled.
It is the deep and unfathomable source of the ten thousand things.
Blunt the sharpness. Untie the knot. Soften the glare. Settle with the dust.
It is hidden deep yet ever present. I do not know whose child it is. It existed before the common ancestor.

    -5-
Heaven and earth are not moved by offerings of straw-dogs. The True Person is not moved by offerings of straw-dogs.
The space between heaven and earth is like a bellows. It is empty and yet never exhausted. The more it works the more comes out.
Many words lead to exhaustion. Better to hold fast to your centre.

    -6-
The valley spirit never dies. Tao Te Ching,
It is the unknown first mother, whose gate is the root from which grew heaven and earth. It is dimly seen, yet always present. Draw from it all you wish; it will never run dry.

    -7-
Heaven and earth last forever. The reason why heaven and earth last forever is that they do not live for themselves. Hence, they last forever.
Therefore, the True Person leaves self behind and thus is found in front, is not guarded and thus is preserved, is self-free and thus is able to find fulfilment.

  7. Africa is in Putin’s back pocket.

“While the resolution saw widespread support across U.N. members as a whole, African countries were divided in their votes: In fact, 28 out of the 54 African countries (just over 51 percent) represented in the U.N. voted in favor of the resolution (Figure 1), a sharp contrast to the 81.29 percent of non-African countries that voted in favor of the resolution. Of the 35 countries that voted to abstain, 17 (48.6 percent) were African—including Algeria, Angola, and South Africa. Eight African countries, including Cameroon, Ethiopia, and Morocco, did not submit a vote, and only one African country, Eritrea, voted against the resolution, a sentiment shared only by Belarus, Russia, North Korea, and Syria.”

  8. CARICOM’s craven support for NATO warmongering
    Caribbean Empowerment Editorial Statement

On 2 March, the United Nations General Assembly voted on a resolution on the war in Ukraine. The resolution, which no doubt was drafted by the government of the USA, presented a completely distorted picture of the war in Ukraine. It pinned all the blame on Russia, while whitewashing the responsibility of the USA for the crisis in that country. The resolution has nothing whatsoever to do with defending Ukraine’s sovereignty or the principles of the UN charter.
    Aggressive Rhetoric

Instead, it is part and parcel of the US/NATO warmongering strategy of isolating and cornering Russia, which the US ruling elites view as a big power competitor. It is the previous application of this strategy that has led to the war in Ukraine and its further intensification represents a very serious threat to peace in the world. As if to underline this reality, the adoption of the resolution was followed by further aggressive rhetoric from US spokespersons. The US ambassador to the UN, Linda Thomas-Greenfield, declared that, “We have demonstrated that Russia is isolated and alone, and that the costs will keep rising until Russia relents”, while President Joe Biden chimed in that, “There is no room for excuses or equivocation. Russia is to blame”.
    Facts Well Known

Unfortunately for the US warmongers and their propagandists, the facts related to the crisis in Ukraine are well known and the relevant evidence has been in the public domain for many years. The roots of the current war can be traced directly back to February 2014, when the US government in clear violation of the sovereignty of Ukraine, which it now claims to be defending, organised a coup in that country and overthrew its elected government. The US was so hell bent on its strategy that it even rode roughshod over its own allies. When Germany and France brokered a deal with Russia for the then Ukrainian government led by Viktor Yanukyovich to resign and for new elections to be called, Victoria Nuland, one of the US key officials in this criminal enterprise, declared, “F..k the EU”. Shortly afterwards, a violent assault was launched on the elected government and it was overthrown. Having overthrown the Yanukyovich government, the US then turned that country into a colony. Victoria Nuland and the US ambassador were recorded deciding which individuals would occupy which positions in the post-coup Ukrainian government. Joe Biden publicly boasted that on a trip to Ukraine, he had issued an order to the Ukrainian government to dismiss a prosecutor that was investigating a Ukrainian company associated with his son, and that by the time he left Ukraine that day, the prosecutor had been fired.

It is clear that after the coup, Ukraine no longer had any sovereignty. However, worse still, the US embarked on a cynical strategy of using Ukraine and its people as pawns in its efforts to militarily threaten Russia. It brushed aside warnings from its own diplomats that such a strategy was extremely dangerous and that if it triggered a Russian military attack on Ukraine, this would have catastrophic consequences for the people of that country. The response of the US ruling circles to this fear was summed up by leading Democratic Party politician, Adam Schiff, who declared, “The United States aids Ukraine and her people so that we can fight Russia over there and we don’t have to fight Russia here”.

Given the facts of the situation, it is clear that no person with a conscience could support a resolution which declared that everything was Russia’s fault and the U.S.A. was completely innocent. Any resolution condemning Russia for attacking Ukraine would have to include equal condemnation of the U.S.A. for violating Ukraine’s sovereignty and cynically using the people of that country as pawns to fight against Russia. Supporting the resolution as drafted by the US would be tantamount to supporting its warmongering in Ukraine.

Many Caribbean people were therefore dismayed to find that every CARICOM government, including those that style themselves as progressive, lined up and voted for the US resolution. Rather than taking a position that condemned both the U.S.A. and Russia or declaring a neutral position by abstaining in the vote as 35 countries did or refusing to take part in the vote as 12 countries did, CARICOM governments chose the worst possible option and hitched themselves to the U.S./NATO war chariot.
United Nations General Assembly vote on Resolution Denouncing Russian Intervention against Ukraine
    United Nations Charter

The apologists for this shameful stand by CARICOM argue that they did this because they wanted to defend the principles of the UN Charter since as small states we don’t have the capacity to defend ourselves against big powers. They themselves know that this claim is dishonest. The US resolution has nothing to do with defending the principles of the UN Charter since it contains no condemnation of the U.S. for violating Ukraine’s sovereignty by organising a coup in that country. Neither does the resolution condemn the US. for using Ukrainian territory to threaten Russia in violation of the UN principle that countries in their dealings with each other should refrain from the use of force or the threat of the use of force.

The people of the Caribbean and the wider Americas live under the Monroe Doctrine, in which the US basically states that it does not recognise the sovereignty of the states in this region. The consequences of this for the people of our region are so well-known that there is no need to repeat them here. We can simply note that these have included coups, economic and political destabilisation and military invasions. Do the leaders of CARICOM really believe that a country which, as a matter of policy, does not recognise and respect the sovereignty of countries is suddenly raising a resolution to protect the sovereignty of some country? To add insult to injury, as the CARICOM leaders were lining up to support US/NATO warmongering, the US installed government in Ukraine was exposing its racism for the whole world to see by blatantly preventing Black people from boarding trains and buses to get out of the war zone. Well done, CARICOM. What is the point of campaigning for the western powers to pay reparations for their past crimes, if you are going to turn around and support their current crimes?

In stark contrast to CARICOM’s shameful support for the US/NATO warmongering, the government of Cuba took an honest and principled stand on the issue. In its official government statement and the presentation made by its ambassador to the General Assembly debate, Cuba reaffirmed its commitment to international law, its commitment to the Charter of the United Nations, its defence of peace and its opposition to the use or threat of use of force against any state. In addition, it noted that the draft resolution was not intended as a genuine contribution to resolve the current crisis as it failed to take into account the legitimate concerns of all the parties involved and did not acknowledge the responsibility of those who instigated the conflict or deployed aggressive actions to escalate it. Cuba called for a serious, constructive and realistic diplomatic solution to the crisis by peaceful means that could arrive at a solution which ensured the security and sovereignty of all, and regional and international peace, stability and security. Cuba abstained in the vote on the resolution. Since CARICOM claims to champion Caribbean solidarity, why did it not stand in solidarity with Cuba’s position?

The people of the Caribbean should take note of the treacherous stand taken by the leaders of CARICOM on this issue.

@David, you are making this simplistic just as the author evidenced a righteous indignation, which as the Bushman alluded to, really fell very flat!

How can we still opine that Vlad Putin (in spite of his careful planning over these many years) in fact did have the APPETITE “to deal with soaring oil prices and the negative effect it will have on capitalist economies” and was ALSO expecting to have to digest a Russian economy that has shrunk over 4% and could go higher; or that he has the appetite to put on his plate the massive negative economic multiplier of company withdrawals from Russia (300 and counting); dismissal from world sporting events (UEFA essentially banned Russia from World Cup competition) and pending default of billions of its debt!!! … …. How can we, bro!

Absolutely, “the experience of Crimea and dealing with global sanctions” and the clear support of China gave Pres Putin a sense of invincibility that led him to his ‘military action’ but based on these collective draconian sanctions imposed on his billionaire henchmen and most importantly Russian citizens seeing their currency fall off the proverbial cliff by over 25% there is NO CONCEIVABLE way that we can maintain this pretty narrative that Putin actually ‘got this’.

I would readily admit that out of this commess there could be desired long term benefits … : namely, removing the $ peg as the only currency for world oil purchases. This could likely soon change to include the Chinese yuan (and that as we may understand would set the tone for major other changes) but if anyone can argue PERSUASIVELY and rationally that that was the ‘end justifies the means’ of this war by Vladimir Putin then I will never quote ‘The Prince’ ever, ever again!😎😎😒

BTW the massive reserves of $600 billion reputed to be on hand by Russia Central Bank is yet starting to look ineffectual if one accepts the words off the business press: “Russia would be in default if it doesn’t pay in U.S. currency the coupon payments that are due this Wednesday on its dollar debt within a 30-day grace period, […] On the foreign-currency side, the nation has $117 million in interest payments due on Wednesday, […] These payments are the first non-ruble debt obligations to come due since the Moscow-based government said it would treat differently creditors in countries that had joined sanctions against Russia following its invasion of Ukraine.

You clearly also know that the country is also about to go deeper into doo-doo regarding the over 500 planes it leases as the leasing companies have essentially grounded them by ‘decertifying ‘ them because ostensibly they are unable to inspect them … Russia will recertify them apparently which will bring the whole mess into contravention of international law and all that.

Brother David, yah really, really think that Vlad Putin met with his nutritionist and drew up this menu to fit his appetite for continued good health. Fah trute!!!!

If so the man has truly a very strong ‘constitution’! Lata.

  16. In 1904, Barbados was a colony of England and not a small state as was all of the Islands of the British West Indies.

“Cuba gained formal independence from the U.S. on 20 May 1902, as the Republic of Cuba. Under Cuba’s new constitution, the U.S. retained the right to intervene in Cuban affairs and to supervise its finances and foreign relations. Under the Platt Amendment, the U.S. leased the Guantánamo Bay Naval Base from Cuba.”

“The Spanish-American War lasted only a few months and was over when Spain signed a peace treaty giving the United States control of Cuba, Puerto Rico, the Philippine Islands, and Guam. Cuba, however, became an independent country rather than a U.S. territory.”

  17. “Barbadians were among the thousands of British West Indians who migrated to Cuba in the early twentieth century in search of work. They were drawn there by employment opportunities fuelled largely by US investment in Cuban sugar plantations.”

  18. de pedantic Dribbler Avatar
    de pedantic Dribbler

@David, indeed time will tell … if there is more than bluster in bringing Vlad Putin and his generals to an international war crimes tribunal charged with war crimes. … It’s yet crystal clear that the various international law statutes were intended to define war crimes as “grave breaches” of the conventions adopted by all UN members and as “serious violations of the laws and customs during international conflict, including the intentional targeting of civilians (willfully killing and/or causing great suffering; extensive destruction and appropriation of property, not justified by military necessity and carried out unlawfully and wantonly etc)”

Clearly therefore Russians have committed war crimes … as likely were incidents in Syria, Iraq and Vietnam during wars perpetuated by the US, however, those crimes do NOT absolve Putin’s team from prosecution now, NOR does it justify (public calls) for his ex-judicial removal as recently suggested again by US Senator Lindsey Graham who said: “I hope he’ll be taken out, one way or the other. I don’t care how they take him out. I don’t care if we send him to The Hague and try him. I just want him to go. Yes, I am on record.”

His statement is even more profoundly troubling when considered against the backdrop that the man who leads Graham’s political party and to whom he has vowed almost total fealty by linking him to his party’s future success is an extreme Putin supporter. Although Graham himself calls Putin ”not a legitimate leader, [and] a war criminal.”

Amazing contradictions…. Thus it’s quite obvious that to start down this slippery slope is very, very dangerous.

We know that Dr. King was assassinated one month on, well over 45 years ago and the civil strife it caused … but do we know what civil strife would break out across the US if assassination and the #45 were linked more directly!

One must be very careful about loose words … as how they materialize can be deeply devastating way beyond initial expectations… the overused saw of ‘chickens coming home to roost’ would then be apt!

  19. With respect Dee Word it is your view of unfolding events that is simple. The West is rallying to rid the world of Putin who represents the last stand against the old ways. It must be done.

@Mr Blogmaster, I wish you well with that … does the ‘wild’ “West [which] is rallying to rid the world of Putin who represents the last stand against the old ways” include China or India or even Saudi Arabia??? The first two represent about 40% of the world population and a sizable chunk of our worldwide economic heft, as you know. They are not really that onboard with the heavy -handed efforts, due to that thing you refer to often: geopolitics!

I do doubt nor dispute that Vlad Putin is a ‘bad guy’ in the “old ways” of which you speak but getting rid of him will NOT be easy (nor simplistic).

He is surely in a very bad place globally but absent solid info on what’s happening locally out there in corners of Moscow it’s just as easy to see him as Saddam 1.0 after the Kuwait fracas with him remaining in control many more years after hostilities end, as it is to expect a Saddam 2.0 hiding pitifully in a hole in the ground!… very, very, very difficult to see any version (however small) of the latter actually.

Who in the last many years have been brought to ANY war crimes tribunal except middling leaders or generals… has ANY US general or such EVER been before such a tribunal. The other day one such prosecutor initiated investigations against the US for possible war crimes in Afghanistan…. brother, the US government levied some SERIOUS sanctions against her and her team !

So yah think Putin with all his bad-ass behaviour is going to play ball wid any ICC or ICJ or Select tribunal court. I think NOT!

  22. What Putin represents is a serious threat to the status of the USA Dollar as the worlds reserve currency…. a threat that has been well advanced in recent months.
Short of direct nuclear attack, nothing can be worse for Uncle Sammy.

With respect Dee Word it is your view of unfolding events that is simple. The West is rallying to rid the world of Putin who represents the last stand against the old ways. It must be done.

    ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Much of Africa however, supports him … and Xi.

  24. History repeats itself.

  25. Putin doesn’t sound like he is hell bent on peace.

Looks like he will turn on his own.

    https://www.msn.com/en-gb/news/world/putin-issues-warning-to-scum-traitors-who-russia-will-spit-out-like-a-midge/ar-AAVa1lt?ocid=msedgntp

Israel has plans to evacuating Jews from Ukraine.

  26. Zelenskiy to US: Be leader of peace
WASHINGTON – Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy urged American lawmakers to do more to protect his country from Russia’s invasion in an address to the US Congress yesterday and pleaded with President Joe Biden to be the world’s “leader of peace”.
“Russia has turned the Ukrainian sky into a source of death for thousands of people,” Zelenskiy said in a virtual address before showing graphic video of death and destruction in his country that ended with an appeal to “close the sky over Ukraine”.
Zelenskiy continued his push for a no-fly zone over Ukraine and asked for aircraft and defensive systems to respond to the invasion launched by Russian last month that has unleashed a wave of refugees. He also called for more economic sanctions against Russia.
Ukraine is facing terror that Europe had not experienced since World War II and the nation’s destiny is being decided, Zelenskiy said through an interpreter.
“Is this a lot to ask for – to create a no-fly zone over Ukraine to save people? Is this too much?” Zelenskiy asked in remarks from Kyiv, a capital city attacked every day that he said “doesn’t give up.”
Zelenskiy closed with a direct plea in English to Biden: “I wish you to be the leader of the world. Being the leader of the world means to be the leader of peace.”
He received standing ovations before and after his remarks.
Zelenskiy invoked American history, asking the lawmakers to remember the 1941 Japanese
bombing of Hawaii’s Pearl Harbour, the 2001 al Qaeda attacks on the United States and civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr’s 1963 “I have a dream” speech in Washington.
“I have a dream. These words are known to each of you today. I can say: I have a need. I need to protect our sky,” Zelenskiy said.
Democratic and Republican lawmakers said after the speech that they were ready to do more for Ukraine quickly by clamping down on Russia, providing more military aid including aircraft and tightening global human rights law. But they again rejected a no-fly zone, saying there was too great a risk of wider war with nucleararmed Russia.
Biden and NATO also have opposed establishing a no-fly zone. The White House has not supported a proposal to help transfer Russian-made MiG warplanes into Ukraine, although that idea has some support in Congress – especially among opposition Republicans. (Reuters)

  27. Putin is nearly as bad as some of the DLP grandees.

    I am gone.

  28. I have been doing some research. Putin as we see him today is the fault of the US and Nato reneging on proven promises by Jim Baker not to expand NATO.

The terrible blunder begun by Bill Clinton. Democrats AND Republicans are guilty of provocation Putin has reason not to trust NATO.

Trump was right in a few things, no matter if his motives were self-serving.

At one time, Putin was open to co-operation and peace. He was slapped down by the West. They dismissed him and Russia as insignificant. They broke promises and expanded NATO. They flirted and played around with Ukraine, crossed the Red Line and this is the result.

I don’t like Putin and I absolutely HATE war but I understand how he came to his position, even if I am not convinced that it is the right thing to do. Pre-emptive strikes are difficult to justify. But… most ordinary folk are the same. They don’t like war. This is why their leaders lie to them to convince them that war is necessary.

The West has twisted the narrative as it always does. However, since the “blond hair and blue eyed” media slips, NOBODY is taking the media of the West seriously anymore.

These people see the whole world from only one perspective. Their own. I watched more than one video where Western representatives shouted down the other guys in the discussion, talking over their pleas for equal respect and time to make their points, trying to tell the Indian government what they should be doing and saying and whom they should be backing. The Indians are having none of it.

The West has been totally and completely exposed over the last few years. They can no longer drown out the rest of the world with false narratives.

Covid shutdowns gave good intentioned but normally busy people time to observe AND ABSORB what was obvious to many long long ago.

If the West wants support, their representatives will have to have honest and meaningful discussions going forward.

I wish the Barbados Government had had the guts to tell the whole story of how we arrived here. It was possible to disagree with Putin’s invasion and also disagree with the actions of the West that brought the world to this perilous point.

“FRIENDS OF ALL. SATELLITES OF NONE.”

  29. Go RUSSIA go. You are the true champion here.

  30. Its a pity there is no “Disgusted” button. So many of these comments would have been easy to respond to

  31. Putin’s forces seem to be purposely targeting civilians.

This is the terror of communism, the extermination of opponents no matter the cost.

I’ve been trying to fathom Putin’s reasoning and could get nowhere until yesterday when Boris Johnson revealed what seems to be the truth.

Putin wants to crush freedom in the Ukraine to avoid his citizens becoming infected.

He is scared of what the Ukraine has.

    Communism sucks.

    China’s communism is even worse.

Whatever Stalin may have done, he was outdone by Mao.

  32. Poor you. You are full of history, WHEN IT SUITS YOUR NARRATIVE.

DO SOME RESEARCH! BORIS JOHNSON INDEED!

  33. We know when battles are fought the propaganda war also starts.

  34. This is the absolute researched truth from Tee White that most people won’t want to read.

@Donna (and too @Bummyhowe) … I accept your entire narrative re the US buildup of ‘hostilities’ and broken promises going back to the Reagan/Gorbachev-Baker/Shevardnadze pact pertaining to this Ukraine war. What is quite difficult to accept, however, is this link to this result from Vladimir Putin. This is truly an ‘alternative fact’ perspective or as @The Blogmaster may say: excellent propaganda.

Let’s bring this down to some simplicities… If I am playing in a Cup Final Soccer game at the stadium (or whatever bigtime event) and I goad an opponent by surreptitiously telling him what I did to his ‘mother or sister’ and otherwise inciting his anger which then explodes with a harsh physical assault on me are we suggesting that he should be excused from his ‘red card’ dismissal! …. Simplistic, yes but I hope it makes the point.

When those players under Reagan and Gorbachev signed those agreements THEY KNEW what was the expected shenanigans and subterfuge and UPSIDES. I will not attempt to rehash all the histories you guys have researched but BROADLY suffice to say these three. SINCE that time 1) mother Russia has EXPLODED economically, 2) that nation and many western powers have joined mutual pacts around the world signaling a desire to work together DESPITE the FACT that more than TEN of those former COMMUNIST Soviet states subsequently aligned to NATO and 3) the same Edward Shevardnadze went on to become the leader in his home country of Georgia and right now they TOO are effectively portioned pro West pro Russia!

The point has to be made and remade and remade … Vladimir Putin’s war in Ukraine CANNOT be cutely explained by these arguments that Russia has been mamaguyed and misled and tricked and provoked.

How can we dismiss the fact that Russia has already annexed parts of Ukraine (Donbas region and Crimea) or further dismiss that Latvia, the same Georgia, Romania, The Czech Republic et al and at the other former states ALL moved west-ward since that 1990s ‘Tear down that wall’ edict was finalized. Several of these were Warsaw pact nations in opposition to NATO …. So are we really saying that the Soviet think-tanks did not understand, expect or foresee all these developments. SERIOUSY!!!!

Geopolitical maneuvers are continuous and surely duplicitous but to wage a WAR in order to reestablish a power position though absolutely more egregiously ridiculous than head-butting or badly assaulting an opponent who has antagonized you continuously … should show the perspective that Putin is simply an unhinged, callous guy … with a big army and nuclear weapons to use before his ‘red card’. Alas, it also says that the US should be damn careful which mad player they antagonize!

Russia may be rightly aggrieved (as anyone would be) but this is a ‘eye wide open’ situation and any maguffy who is going to LIE blatantly to his entire nation and carry the world to the brink of nuclear devastation because he was ‘provoked’ is utterly unhinged and should be deposed. There can be NO ECUSE for this war!

  37. Called that right.

  38. This war is a propaganda war

West have been warring for 30 years and now big hypocrites and news is biased one sided anti-war fakeness

    Same as it ever was
    West versus East

    Christian versus Muslims

  40. @John,
Amongst the Barbadians who went to Cuba was my great uncle and his wife who were both teachers. They never returned to visit Barbados since leaving in 1928 – he died in 1986. Some years ago through a Cuban who I was helping with some software, I discovered his family. I called his son who has the same name as I and we had a good half hour chat. That reminds me — I shall make another call tomorrow.
People are DESPERATE here in UK — Not only refusing potatoes but other vegetables such as carrots, swedes, etc. We have had cases where families have gone into pubs, restaurants and take-aways and scarpering without paying. Not only that, staff being held at knife point to steal cash in broad daylight. A rash of car thefts, stabbings, shootings and the lot. Today the Prime Minister and the Chancellor have both been hit with fines for attending parties during COVID lockdown. I think we deserve the title of “Hoodlum Nation”.

Nearly forgot to mention Ukraine … Last time England played football on Kyiv the black players were subjected to vile chants form the stands and verbal and physical abuse on the pitch. During the current refugee exodus, “Blacks have to walk” they were told. When they reached Poland they were either turned away or the ones who succeeded were told the hotel accommodation was for Ukranians and had to sleep in the cold open, some burning clothes for a bit of warmth.
Kindness and mercy are due only to some it seems.
