@David, an apropos reminder of geopolitical hypocrisy!
The fact is tho that we forget about that US blockade because most other nations have no such embargo against Cuba and the govt there is free to develop the nation as it sees fit… but without the help (directly) of their kin in the US.
BTW as you know the US does NOT recognize the ICJ (Int. Court of Justice) and in fact levied serious sanctions against their prosecutors who had initiated war crimes cases against the US (wars in Afghanistan). Thus now that war crimes charges are being lobbed at Putin it brings these US hypocrisies into VERY sharp focus.

And therein is the real problem @David … if one sovereign can defy UN (international law) and indemnify THEIR soldiers from punish in wars they wage or when their military are involved in joint actions of ‘requested’ intervention then one may wonder why can’t this guy Putin!!!
But this issue may be “complex” as Justice Chase opined on the other matter or it may be quite straightforward with a lotta teasing of words and national interests to make it appear complex!🤦♂️

Cuba is peanuts in the larger scheme of things.
Russia used it for its million tons plus of sugar it produced after WWII and threw it one side after World production increased and its output was unnecessary.
Problem with Cuba is the brainwashing of its leaders was so complete they can’t see the forest for the trees!!

U.S. President George Bush signed into law the American Servicemembers Protection Act of 2002, which is intended to intimidate countries that ratify the treaty for the International Criminal Court (ICC). The new law authorizes the use of military force to liberate any American or citizen of a U.S.-allied country being held by the court, which is located in The Hague. This provision, dubbed the “Hague invasion clause,” has caused a strong reaction from U.S. allies around the world, particularly in the Netherlands.
United States will provide no support in recognition to the International Criminal Court. As far as America is concerned, the ICC has no jurisdiction, no legitimacy, and no authority.

International Criminal Court appeals judges authorized Thursday an investigation into allegations of war crimes by United States military and intelligence personnel, Afghan forces and the Taliban in Afghanistan, in a case that has triggered a diplomatic backlash from Washington.
“The prosecutor is authorized to commence investigation in relation to alleged crimes committed on the territory of Afghanistan in the period since 1 May 2003,” Judge Piotr Hofmański said, adding that other alleged crimes committed on the territory of other states, which are party to the ICC, but that are sufficiently linked to the armed conflict in Afghanistan could also be investigated in the period since July 1, 2002.
