The SARs-CoV-2 virus has moved from epidemic (outbreak in Wuhan, China) to pandemic (spread across several countries) to possible endemic (in simple explanation, the virus will constantly exist like the common flu). Along with the mitigation measures individuals constantly have been urged to to adopt by public health officials, it should be obvious equal focus must be given to practising healthy lifestyle choices. Some suggest an advantage baby boomers have compared to others are decisions made around nutrition specifically taking omega e fatty acids.. Individuals from the baby boomer period constantly share stories about being forced as children to take cod liver oil, shark oil and a host of related compounds which continued into adulthood. The promotion of Omega-3 fatty acids is now big business.

The attached presentation titled Benefits of Fish Oil in the Diet is a timely reminder about the importance of fish oil in the human diet essential for maintaining a healthy state in the prevailing climate.

The blogmaster urges the BU community to ignore a lot of the ignorance being spewed on social media and listen to your doctors. Many persons are recovering BUT with lingering side effects casued by the virus, many people contracting the virus have also died. The full blown effect of the epidemic, pandemic possibly morphing to endemic is the stress it continues to place on healthcare facilities and scarce financial resources especially for small developing states like Barbados not to forger mental health.

hLet us be sensible, there is a reason millions have died or have become chronically sick or psychologically scared.

    To behave like a despot devoid of critical thinking shows many leaders are just bosses lacking in critical thinking skills towards problem solving. Is this the best leaders can do with their outdated conventional thinking?

    I am not one for conspiracy theories but some leaders are behaving like if their brains have been taken over by some alien force. All these wild conventional measures will not stop the spread.

    Somebody needs to tell these know it all leaders the strictest adherence to protocols, only will. Whose fault it is that the Caribbean model of fx earning was never diversified to mitigate any potential fall out from the fickle tourism industry? The same know it all leaders.

    Perhaps, just as the thinking is borrow your way out of a recession at the expense of future generations, we expect to vaccinate our way out of a pandemic with a virus thats chameleon and ever mutating!

    At the end of the day surviving Covid is not up to Politicians, Doctors, Nurses, Scientists, Policing efforts
    it is all about personal responsibility, health and luck whether you live or die of Covid before your time
    It’s like teachers teach pupils for 1 year and then will never see them again and take in a new batch it’s just a job

    If something makes you fearful or angry just change the channel
    I can’t stand my Government and Prime Minister so I have not watched a single broadcast they made for Covid

    Covid affects your respiratory system so you should research breathing exercises available online and practise them when you can

    I’ve got a feeling I may have posted this video on another BU thread before.. but I endorse it anyhow as a good lesson and practise to do daily (or a few times a week) to strengthen your lung energy. It’s especially good for smokers pot smokers etc..

    A friend of mine, 4 people died of Covid19 in his village in the last 2 weeks.

    Scary as hell?

    People dropping like flies, and they are not all old-old either.

    And Covid19 int dun wid we/int dun wid wunna yet.

    A lot more people are going to die before the end of the month, and they are not all old-old either.

    In all my life I’ve never know 4 people in my village die in a 2 week period, not from infectious disease, not from anything. In my quite ordinary Barbados village a funeral is a once a year or twice a year thing, and mostly for very old people. But these recent deaths are not among the old-old.

    Tek my foolish advice. Get ya vaccine do, Even if you are young and strong, get your vaccine, because if the virus can’t find an old people to kill, then it will kill the middle aged, then the young, then the children.

    Think outside the box. Stop putting all the eggs in the basket of vaccination. Do more in the field of prevention and treatment and investigate what seems to be working elsewhere. Don’t allow others to tell us what we can try.

    Keeping a 6 foot distance between yourself and others is prevention
    Wearing masks is prevention
    Vaccination is prevention.

    We need to do ALL of these things.

    The points you listed can all contribute to helping us curb the situation but as the reports from Uttar Pradesh suggest there is more that can be done. We are now over 18 months into this situation and despite all the points you have listed, the situation is worse now than a year ago. This one size fits all strategy is not working and we need to start thinking about having a strategy which is more targeted and which puts a greater emphasis on effective treatment of those who fall ill.

    ivermectin has been prescribed for human use for decades throughout Africa and other tropical regions. The version approved for human use is different from that for animal use. Like any drug, it should be used under a prescription from a qualified doctor. Self precscribing, particularly with the wrong version of a drug is dangerous. That has nothing to do with whether the human version of ivermectin has an impact on reducing covid infection, hospitalisation and death in humans.
