Recent COVID 19 Dashboards reflect a global picture, one of rising infections caused mainly by the Delta variant. Unfortunately because Barbados does not exist in a fishbowl, our tiny island is being ravaged by the the coronavirus. Given the perilous state of the economy before the pandemic struck, Barbadians should expect a period of economic hardship for the next many years, ten, twenty …it is left to be seen. We will probably be told differently very soon with 2023 rapidly approaching.

It is regrettable the one advantage our island has compared to larger countries we continue to squander. Come together, agree to a way forward , inspire residents to rally behind a sensible plan AND EXECUTE. Instead we see the same old, political opportunism, high class ignorance and panic.

The blogmaster is hopeful this blog can be used to record constructive suggestions to help onlookers negotiate the ongoing Covid 19 challenge, now and in the long-term. To repeat – the blogmaster is hopeful.

One thing is for certain, it is going to be a bleak Christmas.

    Putting harmless tourists fully vaccinated with fresh PCR-tests in concentration camps for several days after landing is madness.

    The present Corona Protocol will kill the whole winter season. We definitely do NOT have the testing capacity. Fully vaccinated travellers will go elsewhere. Even many Barbadian emigrants consider to spend Christmas abroad since they do not want to be stuck for 3 to 5 days in a hotel for thousands of USD when they already own a villa on the rock.

    Many fully vaccinated tourists complain that they face severe penalties for breaking the Taliban Corona Protocol, but our justice system does not prosecute the numerous serious criminals who did not wear masks at the anti-vaccination demonstration four weeks ago in order to spread the virus as widely as possible.

    Our government must finally decide whether it will continue to kiss the ass of the BAMP president and the anti-vaccinationists or side with the reasonable citizens and tourists who are happy to be vaccinated.

    Friends of mine used this service this weekend and got back their test results in about 9 hours, but stayed overnight in their quarantine hotel anyhow since the room and breakfast was already paid for. No point leaving the hotel at midnight to drive to the family home.

    Many concerned citizens are asking why our government is not doing anything about the anti-vaccinationists who spread the deadly virus across the island from the capital four weeks ago.

    Whoever was at the demonstration without a mask should be charged with manslaughter after the recent deaths. How many more people have to die because the anti-vaccination activists have free reign on the island??? We urgently need the reintroduction of the death penalty!

    Those criminals at the riot four weeks ago did NOT wear any masks. That is a clear breach of many Corona Emergency Laws. Do not try to blind us. It is obvious that they did not wear masks to spread the virus. That is a clear case of manslaughter.

    Is there any BLACK privilege in Barbados to break the law whereas WHITE tourists leaving their hotel too early are punished? Obviously, there are to kind of Barbados, one for the local criminals and one for the innocent tourists.

    “ALL travellers into Barbados, inclusive of those deemed fully vaccinated, are asked to review, and indicate their acceptance of the following:

    ALL travellers must travel with a valid negative Standard COVID-19 PCR test result.”

    Do you see the use of technology in the above protocol. The above is a 1950’s (pen and paper solution) to the problem. Suggesting the following modifications

    (1) All travelers must submit (online to the GoB) proof of complete vaccination before boarding the plane
    (2) All travelers must complete a pcr test within 72 hours of visiting Barbados
    (3) All travelers must submit proof of a negative pcr test (online to the GoB) and before boarding the plane
    (4) The GoB will approve the application for admission to Barbados. This approval must be presented before boarding the plane.

    And let us have some online GoB offices ‘opened’ for 24 hours. We must be able to process all applications within hours of submission.

    The home testing kit assumes people have control over the virus and by staying in they will get rid of it.

    But we know of course that Lockdowns do not work.

    People don’t have control over the spread of the virus. it is proved again and again in country after country.

    It’s good to know that Canada is introducing mandatory vaccination for all airline passengers from October onwards. They have obviously learned their lesson after far too many migrants brought HIV, hepatitis and crime to Canada. It looks like the list of countries where our oppositionists, Rastafarians, Muslim Brotherhooders and other crazies can travel is getting shorter and shorter. LOL.

    Taipei, Sept. 6 (CNA) Taiwan on Monday reported 16 new COVID-19 cases — nine transmitted domestically and seven contracted overseas — and zero deaths from the disease, according to the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC).

    All nine domestic cases were in New Taipei, the CECC said.

    The new cases bring the total in Taiwan to 16,035, of which 14,378 are domestic infections reported since May 15, when the country first recorded more than 100 COVID-19 cases in a single day.

    No new deaths from the disease were recorded on Monday, the CECC said.

    To date, 837 people have died of COVID-19 in Taiwan, including 825 since May 15.

    In Taiwan, the upsurge in cases from May to July was due to the Alpha Variant.

    The Delta Variant does not seem to be making any impression.

    Why isn’t the Delta variant creating havoc in Taiwan when the experts say it is the reason for the upsurge all over the world?

    Are they wrong again?

    Is the Delta Variant really as contagious as it is claimed o be?

    So either their parents are bringing it home or it is entering the home on its own.

    It’s in the water.

    It is present in high enough concentrations that it even hits children in the home and also presents as extremely contagious.

    This is the most logical explanation.

    I can even tell you what will probably happen.

    It will suddenly almost totally disappear only to reappear when levels are high enough again in the water.

    We are lucky, there are not too many candidates for contaminated water resources.

    expected numbers of infections are well light if water is contaminated in any source

    Go read Volume 5 of a six volume Water Resources Study from 1978 and you will see what I mean.

    It is available for free at the Public Library opposite Independence Square.

    … well not for free because yours and my taxes paid for it.

    Let’s take one of the contaminants found in the ground water around the 16 public water supply sources at the time of the study in Barbados.

    Most wells were higher than recommended if random samples were pulled but if those samples were averaged over a year all of the wells would have been within specification.

    If you were to drink water from your tap at some random time, there would be a high probability that the nitrate levels would be acceptable.

    However, if you were unlucky enough to sample your pipe water at a time when the nitrate levels were out of specification, well then you would have a probability of ingesting more nitrates than you should be ingesting.

    In New York last Year, Cuomo had in excess of 32,000 deaths between March and July.

    Florida had about 7,000 during the same period.

    Lots of Floridians are retirees from New York.

    My opinion on the number of children sick with Covid so far for September is that 80 sick children is 80 too many. As a child I was sick with measles and I felt very badly, feverish, the light hurt my eyes, weak, no appetite, sorry that I gave the measles to a sibling etc. So I feel sorry for these 80 children. I wish them well. And measles has a kill rate of only 1 or 2 per thousand. Covid19 has a kill rate 10 times that one or two per hundred. I pray that we do not lose any more of our children to Covid19
