As Barbados is about to embark on the latest nine day wonder namely the shooting death of the young policemen and the cries from all and sundry for tougher laws, hangings, getting back to god etc.  we are trapped in the circular conversation which will bring no solutions and just the usual bluster from pundits (political and otherwise).

There is only one solution (quite a simple one) for the myriad ills that plague this society however their must be great intestinal fortitude by the political directorate if we are to be successful. We are a people who have been taught to hate ourselves, the outcome of the miseducation that continually churns out societally dysfunctional persons for nation building but functional for this system to maintain and refine itself. The solution of which we speak is EDUCATION. We have gone far and wide adding various ‘reforms’ to the educational system but to no avail as we are doomed to failure continually forcing Eurocentric and now Asiatic systems, beliefs and models on African people. We have truly lost our minds – as a collective and as individuals -please ponder on that. We haven’t tried it because those who have some modicum of control over our children’s education must show more courage and actually believe that the end result will be a well-rounded citizen. This journey will have to begin at nursery school extending to tertiary education and lifelong learning – I do not mean the celebration of ‘black history month’, African Day and other nonsensical tokenism given by those who only confuse us. We must chart our journey now. The Europeans make 100 year plans we however struggle to make a 5 year one but this is to be expected as this is what the system produces and replicates.

As an example, one of my children having entered third form in secondary school presented his history book ‘The People Who Came’ to me and shook his head – skimming through I was shocked, this was a book first published in 1970 and replete with mis-information. A total Eurocentric view, Europe reigned supreme, Africa and other nonwhite peoples of the world are characterized as backward. Africans enter the picture as slaves in the ‘new world’. If we continually programme our children with self-hate, what do we expect to happen. What would happen if you teach children the truth of their existence that they were the first persons to walk this earth, the ones who created the sciences, writing systems, who built the first cities whose manta everywhere we went was ‘man know thyself’ – a testament to the life dedicated to learning.

Please have the vision to go forth and recapture our glory

That has been the modus for 400 years, it’s unlikely to change as long as AFRICAN LEADERS and others REMAIN CARELESS and allow any and everyone to have access to the continent, their culture and anything that can be stolen.

educating the young is the only way to stem this carelessness and stop the thefts..

It’s only RACIST, BLACK HUMAN RIGHTS VIOLATING BARBADOS…refuses to recognize the rights of the child….look at the date on this document..many people on the blog aint even that old and ya can bet Barbados is signatory to this declaration and as they refuse to acknowkedge you know they deliberately VIOLATE ALL BLACK RIGHTS. Fauth Harris admitted that children in Barbados are still seen as having no rights in the 21st century.

..too exhausted right now, another time i will post more. Yall better do something about this nasty black hating government.

“Declaration of the Rights of the Child
Proclaimed by General Assembly resolution 1386{XIV) of 20 November 1959
Whereas the peoples of the United Nations have, in the Charter, reaffirmed their faith in
fundamental human rights and in the dignity and worth of the human person, and have
determined to promote social progress and better standards of life in larger freedom,
Whereas the United Nations has, in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, proclaimed
that everyone is entitled to all the rights and freedoms set forth therein, without distinction of
any kind, such as race, colour, sex, language, religion, political or other opinion, national or
social origin, property, birth or other status,
Whereas the child, by reason of his physical and mental immaturity, needs special safeguards
and care, including appropriate legal protection, before as well as after birth,
Whereas the need for such special safeguards has been stated in the Geneva Declaration of
the Rights of the Child of 1924, and recognized in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights
and in the statutes of specialized agencies and international organizations concerned with the
    welfare of children,
Whereas mankind owes to the child the best it has to give,
    Now therefore,
    The General Assembly
Proclaims this Declaration of the Rights of the Child to the end that he may have a happy
childhood and enjoy for his own good and for the good of society the rights and freedoms
herein set forth, and calls upon parents, upon men and women as individuals, and upon
voluntary organizations, local authorities and national Governments to recognize these rights
and strive for their observance by legislative and other measures progressively taken in
    accordance with the following principles:
    Principle 1
The child shall enjoy all the rights set forth in this Declaration. Every child, without any
exception whatsoever, shall be entitled to these rights, without distinction or discrimination on
account of race, colour, sex, language, religion, political or other opinion, national or social
origin, property, birth or other status, whether of himself or of his family.
    Principle 2
The child shall enjoy special protection, and shall be given opportunities and facilities, by law and by other means, to enable him to develop physically, mentally, morally, spiritually and
socially in a healthy and normal manner and in conditions of freedom and dignity………”

  11. Robotics coming to curriculum
THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION will be introducing a robotics and coding programme in schools at the start of the new academic year in September.
Minister of Education Santia Bradshaw said it was part of Government’s thrust to reform the education system into one that provided children with the foundation to better function in the digital era, as the jobs of the future would be technologically-based.
“If our students are to be competent and assist Barbados in regaining a sustainable economic development path, it is imperative that the education system prepare them to not only manipulate and utilise the technology, but more importantly, participate in its development,” she said during a recent press briefing at the ministry’s Elsie Payne Complex, Constitution Road, St Michael.
Bradshaw added that this programme would also assist children in other subject areas such as science, mathematics and engineering, assist their problem-solving skills and promote innovation.
She said Government had invested $2.7 million in the programme and about 1 128 robotic kits were procured.
Before the programme was launched, a pilot project was developed with the Erdiston Teachers’ Training College, which saw 140 teachers being trained and 2 602 students participating in robotics training at their respective learning institutions.
“We’re also aligning the upper secondary curriculum with the national objectives, and discussions are presently ongoing with [the Caribbean Examinations Council] and [Technical & Vocational Education and Training] to identify and procure any additional resources at the schools to support the curriculum.
“With additional resources becoming available at the end of the last financial year at the end of March, the Cabinet of Barbados agreed to the procurement of an additional 4 785 kits and a further allocation of $1.6 million.
“This would increase the number of students and teachers who could participate in the programme for the start of the September term, which would allow us to have 16 508 students being able to have access to these kits,” said Bradshaw. (SB/PR)

In the Spirit of our ancestors.

“John Shackelford organized the 1,100-mile ride which traced the journey of the Underground Railroad from Alabama to Washington D.C. to not only inspire his community, but to pay homage to runaway slaves seeking freedom.

According to Bicycling, Shackelford, 26, a Brooklyn native, was inspired to organize a tour with a larger purpose after attending several Black Lives Matter protests in 2020.

“That was my big message,” Shackelford said. “To inspire more people like me to do what I love.”

Shackelford decided to trace the journey by bike, but discovered through research that there were no prescribed routes in those times. He instead thought, “Cool. In the spirit of my ancestors, let me make my own way.”
