A sign of the nature of these times is the imposition of a new etymology. Whether it is ‘woke-ism’, on the one side, or ‘cancel culture’, on the other, the willful misguidance is no less profound. “Whiteness” is generally defined as being a political construction, a fiction.

In this piece we will attempt to tease out, or even capture, an ‘ahistorical’ moment where a faux progressivism pretends to confront long-held establishment lies, wickedness – across the board.

This convergence of interests should properly be the province of academia and particularly those from the Frankfurt School of critical social theory. Unfortunately though, It has long-failed to help us rethink or reform the social critiques of Marxism, as they had promised, even as Marx gave the ‘soft touch’ to racism and slavery; has not led to the rejection of mainstream political views; its tepid criticisms of capitalism have made it no less vicious; there has been no substantive ‘liberation’ of humanoids anywhere; while domination and exploitation continue at an algorithmic pace.

Some, with rightness, may suggest that woke-ism is deeply culturally bound. Others are reticent to jettison certain unrealities. Others are entrenched in the misbelief, or fear, that there will be some meeting of the minds at a point of moderation. Yet others wrongly look to this divine age of technological innovation to deliver mankind. In reality they intend that establishment systems should only be tinkered with on the margins if at all, but never radically transformed, far less prevent the new formations of the old systems of subjugation now reemerging as more virulent manifestations of technological oppression.

It is however clear that the perceived meanings of woke-ism and ‘Whiteness’ can never comfortably coexisted. For the first is predicated on the existence of what is real, presumably, while the other is entirely based on a deep and wide culture of unreality. An unreality not based within the longer evolution of humanoids.

Those who suggested that the removal of Horatio Nelson from the top of Broad Street was an attempt to ‘cancel’ their ‘culture’ are ideologically well-connected to the Proud Boys and other White supremacist forces in the United States of America, and elsewhere. We include Black lackeys in high places, like ‘a Johnny’ Muh Boy as the quintessentially modern-day house niggers! But still, its mere removal only flirts with the symbolic. The same is true about removals from landscapes elsewhere as well.

And for the lack of historical memory, eminently demonstrated by many on the side of Black Lives Matter, prevents a better understanding of their own arguments. This requires, amongst other things, taking a hard look at the ways in which that movement has been appropriated, internally and externally, by a wide range of interests included the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) of the United States of America, no less. It’s a ‘crying shame’ that even the marketing and recruitment of CIA agents, as an historically racist organization, have now fully appropriated wokeness.

There was a time when ‘whiteness’ meant something entirely different. It denoted somebody who was spiritual. It had nothing to do with pigmentation or ‘pinkness’. At that time all the ‘white’ people were Black, there was nobody else around.

But etymology is a linguistic bitch. People who argue that others seek to cancel their culture are ignorantly doubling-down on all the crimes committed in the name of the political construction which is Whiteness as if seeking to eternally be in a march to war against 90% of Earth’s peoples.

When those who represent ‘Whiteness’ talk about the cancellation of culture, or the irrational moderation of just demands, a level of credibility should be brought to the table based on the real and continuing cancelling which White people and their agents have committed for millennia. In the absence of such an accounting there can be no legitimate claims to a genocidal culture still being constructed and maintained on the bones of others.

  1. When we look at the Black leaders whom have left their mark or imprinted on our collective conscience: Frederick Douglass, Marcus Garvey, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr, Malcolm X, and Stokely Carmichael, we see one man who stands apart from them all, and that man was Marcus Garvey because he talked the talked and walked the walked, but all else beside Mandela, who vision was limited …. were rhetoricians and demagogues.

  2. Nelson Mandela

If my memory serves me correctly, Mandela was sentenced to death by hanging, but escaped the hangman rope on a technicality, so you cannot convinced me that God hadn’t had a hand on Mandela’s life.

    xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

YES, THE TECHNICALITY WAS THAT HE SOLD HIS SOUL TO THE WHITE MAN FOR FREEDOM WHILST SINKING BLACK SOUTH AFRICANS DEEPER IN BONDAGE AND ECONOMIC DEPRAVITY.

  3. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr, spoke of the vision, but did little either than to pressured policymakers through his rhetoric and civil unrest methodology, to make rights the wrongs. But Dr. King, was a public intellectual and the chosen mouthpiece for the Civil Rights Movement.

  4. Baje

But Desmond Tutu, the Archbishop of South Africa, protested with the Black South Africans in the Township in the day, and slept in suburbs with the Racist Apartheid White at night.

  5. He ain’t know shit.

Slavery in Africa was having about servants who were treated like humans and rewarded for loyalty
not brutality of Atlantic Slave trade where negroes were defined as inferior subhumans in the slave code

White folks will tell Black people that Mandela and MLK are the type of revolutionaries that should be followed
when MLK was arrested 29 times had FBI spying on him and was shot
Mandela was charged for terrorism spent 27 years in jail and was given up to Police by a tip off from CIA

the first generation of woke people were civil rights fighters and Joan Baez hippies in the movement
the next generation was the anti-apartheid protestors crew fighting against racist rightwing Governments
and the freedom fighters in angolan war and the woman in ANC
Now that you have touched the women, you have struck a rock you have dislodged a boulder you will be crushed

The predicament Black South Africans founded themselves in, is of their own doing and of their own ignorance and stupidity.
Cecil Rhodes, left England at the age of 19, bounded for South Africa on his quest to make it rich, and what did he do to achieved his goal to get rich? He tricked the ignorant, backwards, bewitched and superstitious South Africans to sell their diamond and gold rich lands to him for pennies.

  7. Baje

One noted European Academic wrote that the bewitched and backward Africans put more value in the hog bone and teeth around their necks, than the gold and diamonds in their lands.

  8. 555dubstreet

Who does not know that the justification given for the enslavement of the African slave, centered on the fact that he or she was subhuman or partly human? And this was the justification Slave Traders gave to Christianized Europe to validated their claim to enslaved the African.

  9. Dompey

why you keep coming with white folks propaganda that ain’t your shit

why you keep acting like you can do shit

  10. Who does not know that the justification given for the enslavement of the African slave, centered on the fact that he or she was subhuman or partly human?

it was the lie that was needed to brainwash whites to commit their evil and became embeded in their psyche
the 3/5 law used in counting black people

“I hope before I shed my earthly tabernacle and is laid out for public or private viewing, that my children get to live in a world were White, Black, Yellow, Red and Brown people, are able live in harmony and with the tolerance and understanding to love and appreciate the cultural,…”
    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

But Domps, isn’t that all similarly encoded in MLK’s Dream?

Where were you when he MLK was making his ‘Dream’ speech?
Behind the police horse pens on Station Hill being broken in?

Even Frederick Douglass had similar vision.

But he was not that stupid as to expect its realization through aping the white man’s brand of “Christianity”.

Black people in the Diaspora ought to stop aping the white man’s religious bullshi**t and form their own Movement of Salvation of their sorry souls with Marcus Mosiah Garvey (MMG) their Messiah instead of some fictitious Jewish character called Jesus.

  12. Boy brother sometimes, it is difficult to comprehend or even envision, how another human being can chained up another human like cattle, and sell them on the auctioning block like wild animals?

What stays in my mind about the elderly from that era, is how mentally traumatized they were and it was clear that leaving the earth for them was an escape hatch from all that psychological brutality…that is imprinted on my mind from when i was growing up, you could see the torment in their eyes from the lost identity and immersion in a bullshit artificial hypocritical religion that cemented their agony…,,many went stark, raving mad and barely functional until death released them.

a cycle that has repeated itself globally.

It is understandable why earlier generations thought the way they did.
It is frightening to actually read and observe how those of younger generations think. It makes one shiver.
Underlying much of the fancy scribblings,is a hopeless, defeatist, surrender to Eurocentric thinking
. When read critically the thinking is embarrassingly littered with exactly how Massa wants us to think.
We keep being trapped into what is obviously an attempt at weak intellectual sophistication.’
From reading the responses to this article, one can easily discern the struggles that you and others would have understanding why so many of us are like balloons; let go to be taken wherever and however the wind blows.
It appears we are always more comfortable accepting the crumbs from the table.
It is obvious that we have not truly studied the works of truly progressive Black thinkers . We are still blaming ourselves for atrocities that were inflicted on us.
Some of these responses to this article are painful to read.
Your persistence and consistence in attempting to educate us , is a debt that can never be repaid. I personally, have not encountered such brilliance in our country for several decades. It’s the closest , I have read since the late 60s.
I can only hope that there are people, who may not necessarily comment on BU, who read your contributions.
    Keep up the good work.

frightening indeed, what keeps me going are the volumes of information and once unavailable knowledge that was presented to me as a welcomed gift……the more the trifling display themselves, the more it comes back to me what inner troubles and torments the elderly suffered before they passed on and left not understanding why…….but now some of their descendants take great pleasure displaying themselves as fools….that is what disconnect causes, then they run out of steam and petty thoughts until next time..

i refuse to let the younger generation 40 years and younger who are struggling to find self, be drawn into battles with personal demons unnecessarily….we owe them that much….I saw personally what that did to people in the diaspora and it’s nothing pretty…

sad that we have all the tools available that our recent foreparents did not have and either misuse or ignore them..,,and ramble on and on about nothing…they believe they got all the time in the world, but they don’t…as i said, some will have to be given up, it’s their self-sacrifice, voluntary, they spent years on BU letting everyone know who they are, with pride.

And therein lies our dilemma @David … what or which ‘establishment’ did she challenge ?

Was she not part of the ‘establishment’ as one of the US political royals for all her life until just just a few short weeks ago!

    “It works until it doesn’t”!

@Skinner, are our youth truly more ‘hopelessly defeatist’ than those of earlier more turbulent years???

Based on the activities seen across media (particularly social media) there certainly appears to be quite assertive, radical and well educated youths carrying the fight forward.

That we see so many who ‘surrender to Eurocentric thinking’ as you opined is also a function of the pervasive reach of social media… if u have stats to show that MORE lackeys abound today then in previous times then please cite them …. because the anecdotal references also suggest that Black folks are quite radical and assertive in their Blackness but also more keenly aware of how BEST to harmonize their disdain for the established order and yet inculcate themselves within that order.

Dislike it all you want but not every successful warrior fights on the outside!

is it profitable to disregard everything the European has done or has said to free us from the mental and physical shackles of our enslavement?
I can’t point to non- African men and women, whom have fought along side us to help us rid ourselves of our mental and physical enslavement, and John Brown the Christian brother, whom has passionately fought for our caused, but was caught tried, convicted, and put to death on the count of our betrayal.

I was merely referencing some of the responses to the said article. I stand by what I said: While one can understand the thinking of earlier generations, it is difficult to understand why later or more present generations are caught in what is essentially colonialist thinking.
Indeed if you were to peruse articles on race on BU, you may get a clearer understanding of what I am trying to say.
As for statistics , I have none. I would not bother to ask you if you have any for your positions.
In other words there is still a cause for concern. Otherwise some of the responses would have not been so profoundly backward.

Here we go again with the classic red herring. You burst my ass for four hundred years and then you march with me and that act takes Centre stage.
In the meantime, we come with all these things that “ wrong” with Black people. I will never subscribe to such crap. Not one that wrong with us is any different from any other race. If we were not protective of each other, we would all be in Westbury Cemetery. Families have squabbles.Stop inhaling the white man’s divide and rule strategy.
I am not interesting in such foolishness. Sorry.

  27. William Skinner

Yes we must acknowledge the fact that during our enslavement the voices of the majority White population were in fact silent, but we still cannot disregard that fact the non-Blacks have played an active role in the quest for the total disintegration of the Institution of slavery.
And we must therefore, commended the efforts of men like John Brown and William Wilberforce, whose opposition to slavery weren’t a popular one at the time, but yet these men risk the lives and livelihood to do that they thought was moral right.

For those who know no better, there is nothing called diminishing world resources, just as it was 60 years ago, the potential material resources are still great on the continent, it’s the greedy thieves as usual spreading false information to take what is not theirs and pauperize the continent and those Africans living in the diaspora.

    William…as we knew all along.

“To start with, for the first time in human history the potential material resources of the world are so great that there is no need for there to be rich and poor. It is only the organisation to deploy these potential resources that is lacking. Effective world pressure can force such a redeployment, but world pressure is
not exercised by appeals, however eloquent, or by arguments, however convincing. It is only achieved by deeds. It is necessary to secure a world realignment so that those who are at the moment the helpless victims of a system will be able in the future to exert a counter pressure. Such counter pressures do not
lead to war. On the contrary, it is often their absence which constitutes the threat to peace.” Nkrumah

  32. Wura

I would agree with you that it is within the best interest of each and everyone Black person to take the steps to rid his or her self of the psychological trauma and mental conditioning, that still afflicts those of us who refused to take the time to understand that our own self-destructive behaviour is somehow intricately interwoven with our enslavement.

But how does that understanding of our past, change the fact that for there to be any real change in the racist attitude and condition of those towards people of color; it must first start with the ones who are promoting the racist and extremist views and ideologies?

So my thinking goes back to the philosophy of Nelson Mandela, who believed that the only way to achieved racial harmony is through the Inclusion of all races, to solve the problem of our racial disharmony.

You continue to quote the Ghana first President Kwame Nkrumah, but he was toppled because he believed as most African leaders of his day did, and still today, that they should be President for life.

  36. WURA-War-on-U Avatar

Dompey, you are hopelessly lost, as you yourself said, you are totally disconnected, too westernized, no spiritual connection, so you keep missing the point….this is not about Nkrumah personally, it’s about the MESSAGE…it’s his message and can only be attributed to HIM..

had he been president for life, he would do EVEN MORE THAN HE ACHIEVED IN 6 SHORT YEARS, read his list of achievements on the other link…that other leaders are yet to match……up till today they are calling back for him, but black traitors are the downfall of African people, just as they are anywhere else you find treacherous sellout colonial monkeys in suits.
