During our lives, we will harm many people, both intentionally and unknowingly. We will harm them by doing harmful things, and by failing to do helpful things. That harm is a debt that we must pay. We may never know the number of people whom we have harmed. The spaghetti of consequences of all our actions and non-actions is unknowable to all, except to the One who is all knowing.

OUR DEBT PROBLEM.
If someone harmed a child, then they should give an account, and make amends, to the child’s parents. We are all God’s creation, and we are all guilty of harming His creation. Each of us must give an account of our actions, and non-actions, to our Creator. Therefore, we all have a serious debt problem.
God managed our debt problem by sending his Son, Jesus, to pay everyone’s debts. Therefore, Jesus became the Messiah of all mankind. Since Jesus paid our debts, God appointed Him as the one to whom everyone must give an account, at the end of their lives.
Interestingly, both the Bible and Qur’an acknowledge Jesus as the Messiah, who will judge all people, after their brief time on this Earth has ended.

DEBT FORGIVENESS.
The arrangement to have our debts forgiven is fair, and entirely within our control. We will be forgiven to the same extent that we forgive others. So, if we only forgive someone 60% of their smallest debts to us, then we will only be forgiven the same 60% of the smallest of our debts.
At the end of our lives, those who have no debts will have qualified themselves for fulfilling and exciting employment. Those who decided to keep their debts, would have automatically condemned themselves to a bitter and miserable unemployable existence, with others who have done the same. But there is another judgement.

POLITICAL JUDGEMENT.
Enoch describes an inescapable eternal damnation, for politicians who implemented oppressive policies. That is why politics is the most dangerous activity for any human being, and should only be done by selfless persons who want to serve, and not enrich themselves and their supporters.
It is useful to read Jesus’ words to the oppressive leaders of his community. “You serpents, you brood of vipers, how are you to escape being sentenced to hell?” (Matthew 23:33) So, oppressive politicians should not be feared – but pitied.

KEEPING DEBTS.
Jesus predicted a horrific scenario where most humans will not want to be forgiven. Tragically, it has come to pass. Many refuse to acknowledge that their actions have harmed anyone. Their attitude is described in Proverbs: “This is the way of an adulterous woman: She eats and wipes her mouth and says, ‘I’ve done nothing wrong.’” (Proverbs 30:20).

We think that nothing is wrong with abortion for convenience and sex slavery, both of which are illegal in Barbados. We think that no one is harmed with: pornography, bribery, no-bid public contracts, political discrimination, etc. When preachers of the Gospel remind persons of their debts, and urge them to live debt-free to avoid future unemployment, some get offended.

The most reckless thing that a human being can do, is to reject the offer to be debt-free. The most short-sighted thing that a human can do, is to accumulate and retain debts. The most certifiably lunatic thing a human can do, is to tell Jesus, their Messiah and Judge, to begone.

Would that category of people who recognize your Jesus as the “Messiah” include the Jews from whose Abrahamic tree both Christianity and Islam grew?

How about the billions of Indians and other Orientals?

We don’t think your ‘Messiah’ analogy is fitting.

Neither Jews nor Muslims recognize your high priest anointed with oil as any ‘Messiah’ or ‘King’ Jesus as the ‘only begotten son of your Jewish god Yahweh.

He was simply a “son of man” who became an anointed (Mashiach) high priest according to the Order of Melchizedek.

Neither do they ‘interchangeably substitute’ your Jesus for God himself as you and your ‘fundamentalist’ ilk like to do in the most anti-kosher and un-Islamic manner.

The first of your commandments clearly states: “Thou shalt have NO other gods before me” and, by extension, ‘along with’, or ‘after’.

Where does that leave poor Mary? As both the wife and mother of God?

When you can explain why the seemingly most ‘powerful nation’- and with the most evangelical Christians in the world- the great United States of America does not recognize, officially, either Good Friday or Easter as your God-mandated milestones along the way to heavenly salvation, then we will listen to your advice about dealing with mankind’s debt problem through his only ‘begotten’ son Isa.

While you are at it, why not use your well brainwashed mind to explain to the BU followers why Easter was celebrated this year on the 3rd April whereas it was celebrated on 13th April last year (2020) and earmarked, DV, for 18th April next year (2022).

  2. Hi Miller:

Various religious groups teach various things. You brought up several of those things. Many are simply person’ opinions, which can result in meaningless debates. That is why I presented the essential thing – you can choose to live debt-free or you can choose to keep your debts.

The choice is entirely yours, and you will have qualified or disqualified yourself by your own choice. You certainly cannot claim that the arrangement is not fair.

If you choose the way of forgiveness, fine. If you choose to retain your debts, fine. If you choose to encourage others to live debt-free, well done. If you chose to encourage persons to keep their debts, that is highly irresponsible. If you choose to discourage persons from the way of forgiveness, that is wickedness.

  3. I am of the view that all / any faith is acceptable for their positive aspects in systems of belief. Whatever resonates as truths in your soul works and can be drawn upon for spiritual inspiration.

It is refreshing to see that you have ‘aroused’, but only slightly, your pineal gland to entertain the thought of there being many other pathways-other than the Judeo-Christian rite of passage- to spiritual enlightenment aka a relationship with the Creator of this planet.

It also ‘comforting’ to read that you view your Judeo-Christian book as one of the many collections of ‘people’s opinions’ parading on the long journey to spiritual Valhalla or Nirvana.

But why try to evade the point at issue and fall back into a deep slumber of blissful confusion by painting yourself (back) into an intellectual corner? Why do you have to gnaw away at your soul by contradicting yourself?

How can you speak about freedom of choice available to mankind in dealing with the ‘human’ debt problem of sin- as opposed to one of finance which can be deduced from your argument- when the only way of relieving that ‘debt’ is through accepting ‘Jesus’ as the debt remover?

Where does that leave the Hindus or the ‘uncontaminated tribes of the Amazon and not yet brainwashed by so-called Christian missionaries or religious terrorists crusading under the banner Islamic jihad?

Should they remain innocuously inoculated against your Abrahamic-brand virus but eternally saddled with the curse of “Debt”?

  5. Grenville

You have once inspired this writer with your engineering knowledge.

This judea-christian bullocks represents a level of ignorance unbefitting the required precision of a structural engineer.

Indeed, you have descended into a level of social engineering entirely based on specious claims and outright lies or fables to which the are no proofs whatsoever.

As a house of cards lacking engineering best practices it remains unpersuasive in the least and therefore falls on its face.

  6. Miller:

No Contradictions. It is important that persons are aware that they carry debts, so that they can remove them. Some prefer not to know, or to know but to ignore the debt – to try to ease their conscience.

Abortion for convenience kills. It is a debt that needs to be forgiven.

Sex-slavery harms the enslaved. We have no excuse to judge slave owners of our fore-parents, when we cry for our rights to keep sex-slaves enslaved just to entertain us. That is a debt that needs to be forgiven.

No-bid contracts harms all other competitors. It also harms everyone in the country. It is a debt that needs to be forgiven.

  7. Is the issue about the debt or addicted to a lifestyle that demands engaging debt. What is at the root of consumption behaviour? The is is more complicated that saying this is how we use to do it. Many of the proponents of this way of thinking take on debt.

  8. Grenville

For a titularly Black man like you to find some moral equivalence between sex slavery and chattel slavery demonstrates how vacuous you are and have always been.

  9. Hi David:

We will inevitably attract debt with our behaviours, because we are not perfect.

If we see our actions as wrong, thereby incurring debt, then we may try to change our behaviour and not incur such debts.

If we see nothing wrong with our behaviour, then we may ignore our conscience, and may be deceived to see some virtue in our behaviour. In this manner, we retain our debts, and condemn ourselves.

  10. @Grenville

Not sure your simple reasoning applies. Human consumption behaviour is influenced and shapes by a science of marketing. The output is creating debt at the household and country level to feed the beast.
