For the last 15 months or so, I have faithfully submitted a Bible Study of some kind to be presented on the Barbados Underground platform. 

Most of these are power point presentations that I have previously delivered to audiences in my local church in Central Florid, some are quite new.  

I have also presented excerpts of material that I wrote while studying in online seminary twenty years ago, and a few were copied because of the extrinsic value within them. 

Since none of my work is copyrighted, readers are free to use any of my material judiciously in their efforts to share the Word of God, or in their endeavours to be Philologi. As I have freely been given, so do I freely give. 

This week we will share some thoughts on 2 Timothy 2: 1-7, on the Qualities of a Faithful Christian Worker.  In an ungodly and antagonistic world, believers must be strong servants or ministers who faithfully serve God and others. In this study of 2 Timothy 2: 1-7, we will harp on the disciplines of a strong servant or minister of Christ, that can be discerned from the first 7 verses of this chapter and the instructions that tell us  how we can become one. Paul asserts that  A Strong Minister Relies on God’s Grace v1, Faithfully Teaches God’s Word v2, Demonstrates the Attitude of a Good Soldier  v3-4, Competes Like an Athlete According to God’s Rules v5, Is Like a Hardworking Farmer v6, and is a Faithful Bible Student v7.

    I posted a simple sane sound study of a short Scripture passage, and Satan and his assigns have responded with emotional erroneous and profane and idle babblings at their daddy’s request in an attempt to take the focus off of the gospel and God’s Word.
    HILARIOUS!

    These babblers evince that they are all under sin; 10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: 11 There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. 12 They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.13 Their throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips:14 Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness:(Romans 3:9b-13)

    To whom did Jesus reveal this rather intimately ‘testing’ event?

    There is something about Pauls gungho attitude that makes for physcholgical exploring

    Then one day scrpiture says he had a Damascus moment in which the voice of God ask Paul why is he a persecuter of God

    Read Galatians 1:17 mean and you will find that when some Judaisers confronted him about his authority as an apostle that Paul demonstrated that the Judaizers were wrong about him. JUST AS YOU ARE.
    In the following chapters, he will show they are wrong about the truth of the gospel, as well. They are wrong about him, he insists, for suggesting that
    a) he did not have the authority to teach the Galatians about Jesus and
    b) he was simply retelling someone else’s version of Jesus’ message.

    Paul had already referred to his dramatic conversion: from Jesus-persecutor to Jesus-follower (Acts 9:1–22). He now relates that after that moment on the Damascus road, he did not go to Jerusalem to receive training about the things of Christ from the 12 disciples, “those who were apostles before me.”

    Instead of consulting with a human authority, Paul went off by himself to Arabia and then to Damascus for three years (Galatians 1:18). He seems to be saying that it was during this time, after seeing and being commissioned by Christ, that he came to understand the truth of the gospel as he presented it to the Galatians.

    Since he had not been trained by anyone but Christ Himself, Paul was qualified to fill the role of apostle and his message was trustworthy.

    Paul teaches here that God revealed His Son Jesus to Paul, by His grace, even after Paul spent years as a Pharisee trying to destroy the Christian church. After Christ commissioned Paul to preach the good news to the Gentiles, he went off by himself for a few years and came to know the gospel through Christ directly.

    Is that serpent which was forged into a ‘brazen’ idol in the wilderness by the Egyptian high priest Moses the same serpent that tempted eve and deceived Adam in the Garden of Eden?

    Oh, what a complete makeover the poor serpent (called Apophis in Egyptian mythology) underwent by transforming from a being of darkness or evil (a devil called Satan) into a instrument of salvation to Yahweh’s chosen people and a god to the medical profession.

    A good example of a type is the incident recorded in Numbers when the children of Israel had been bitten by poisonous snakes and were instructed to look at a bronze serpent on a pole. God had promised that those who did so would be healed. The entire experience is a type. It was an actual, historical event that portrayed a New Testament truth. Here is what Jesus said about this incident in John 3:14-16: “And, as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up; That whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have eternal life. For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

    At first it might seem strange that of all things, a serpent should be a type of Christ and His saving work on the cross. But it makes sense when we read what Paul wrote in his second letter to the Corinthians, which reads “Now, then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us; we beg you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God. For He hath made Him, who knew no sin, to be sin for us, that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him” (2 Corinthians. 5:20-21).

    We identify a serpent with sin, and brass or bronze in the Bible speaks of some aspect of God’s judgment. The bronze serpent, therefore, was a fitting portrayal of the Lord Jesus being made sin for us (bearing God’s wrath to pay the price for our iniquity). He made it possible for us to be saved by simple looking to Him in faith. That Old Testament incident was therefore an outstanding type of the redemptive work of Christ.

    Haven’t you on numerous occasions quoted from the Judeo-Christian book of Revelation about the end times when, as a result of the rapture you would be caught up in the air and transported on a alien spacecraft to meet your sweet Jesus after spending your last solar years of life in the Age of Pisces?

    Can’t you understand that the imaginings of John the gay disciple, as concocted by later playwrights, are just astrological readings of things to come when the Earth would be struck by an extra terrestrial object of no mean size to signal the return of the gods mentioned in the Book of Genesis?

    How come the Jews whom you believe are the bees knees of your Yahweh’s chosen people do not recognize the same Book of End Times aka Revelations?

    But what can we expect from a theological butthead who persistently argues that a Jew can also be Christian?

    It can be a case where a Christian could consider himself or herself a Jew but there is absolutely no way a Jew can be considered a Christian as long as he adheres to the tenets of Judaism.

    Being a Christian requires absolute faith in the divine birth of Jesus, his death and resurrection along with recognition of SUNDAY as the Sabbath (at least for most of them).

    These are all tenets, by the way, which Jews reject totally out of hand.

    Their Saviour or messiah lies not in the return of the crucified Jesus but in the return of their King David.

    How do you reconcile that, Rev?

    2 TIMOTHY 2:23 teaches “But foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they do gender strifes.” The idea is that one must refuse foolish and ignorant speculations, and stay clear of irrelevant endless disputes and arguments, because people who don’t know the truth, will tend to seek to cause trouble because they are under the influence of the devil, that’s why they were coming against God all the time.

    This battle is spiritual, and there intent is to distracting interests in the word of God and to limit how much God can use it here. These persons are trapped by the devil.

    This verse is quite similar to verses 14 and 16. Only here the word used is speculation instead of profane babbling. The Greek word used here in verse 23 means a seeking, an enquiry, a questioning, a debate, a matter of controversy. It is a foolish argument. It is speculating about questions that we can’t know the answer to, and is one of the devil’s devices.

    There are many issues believers can waste their time on, and Satan is overjoyed whenever believers get involved in these pointless debates rather than busying themselves building God’s kingdom.

    Many of these issues are foolish speculation and nonsensical question for which there are no answers in the Bible. More over the answer would have no practical application for us. Spending time on these types of questions does not benefit us spiritually in any way. Instead these questions create conflict and disagreement. They create division.

    They waste believers’ time thinking about and studying about these things when we should be out loving others and sharing the gospel.

    Believers must waste their time on questions such as these. Instead, they should ask themselves if a question is worth arguing over before engaging in a debate about such.
    Another good question is, “does finding the answer help me become more like Christ?”

    it wont ever do so because these silly speculative questions seek only to deride and discredit both the message and the messenger.

    Controversy equalises fools and wise men in the same way–and the fools know it. THAT IS WHY FOOLS ENGAGE IN CONTROVERSY ABOUT THINGS OF WHICH THEY KNOW NAUGHT

    Many of us at EVERY ONE of the worship services we attended from childhood recited either the Apostles creed or the Nicene creed depending on the service. Some have come here in the past seeking to deride these creeds in thier ignorance and in their captivity by the sneers of the devil

    They ought to study them well, for their contents are very scriptural .
