  1. A positive PCR test ALONE does not mean that you have Covid 19.

They (WHO) changed the guidance the day of the USA Inauguration day. 

A positive test ONLY means there are traces of  virus RNA in your nasal passages or in the oral cavity. It doesn’t mean that there is a clinical infection.

  1. The reporting of covid related deaths make no sense to many observers.

Real sources are difficult to come by simply because as noted in point 1 having a virus in your body doesn’t mean you are infected with said virus. The best way to think about this would be to use logic and compare different USA states or various countries to each other. For example many have joked that the UK lockdowns were so effective that at the same time Sweden’s numbers were reduced.

“The Department of Health includes anyone who had died within 28 days of receiving a positive test for Covid-19 as a coronavirus-related death.” 

This effectively means you could have stage 4 lung cancer and if you happened to also “test positive” for the virus (not necessarily infected) then you would be classified as a covid death.

    There are countries with single digit Covid deaths. The Bhutanese have just one death.

    A country with maybe 700, 000 people is Bhutan.

    Whereas Barbados has done relatively well especially earlier on it appears that misjudgements might have been made to benefit economy.

    It is not true that chlorination does not kill viruses. It is true to say some viruses are more resistant. Apparently not enough is known about how the virus is even affected only that some of them are.

    But….if the damn thing is spread through our pipes then the outbreaks should be concentrated in communities or workplaces that share the same souce. But we find that there may be an outbreak at a workplace or community and it is contained without any change in the treatment of the water. Instead it is contained by isolating the infected, removing their breath from the atmosphere.

    This virus is present in the nasal passages. Most of the spread would therefore be expected to occur by this route. It is only obvious that if we breathe out and spit out the virus others around us will breathe it in.

    This would not rule out lesser spread by other methods.

    David, how about the opportunity for doctors overseas? As time marches on, the shortage of medical personnel in the USA and UK will attract doctors from these shores and no one can blame them.

    There is ample opportunity for young people who wish to work in that industry, to qualify, go overseas to study a specialty and stay there. This applies to both doctors and nursing professionals.

    That is not a bad thing for the country, as remittances etc should increase, even if some expertise is lost. But it will also create connectivity between those professionals overseas and their Barbadian counterparts, when it comes to treatment of patients etc.

    Not surprised, many doctors here are not seeing patients either, since last March I’ve seen my doctor twice, once in the early stages before lockdowns and second in the Fall to get my flu shot, all else is discussed on the phone. I have two phone appts. next month after I complete blood work etc. I have seen my dentist twice but he was closed for six months, since then he has installed equipment to take away droplets etc. and is masked up, additionally I had to complete a phone questionnaire a few days before and when I arrived at the office the receptionist had to unlock the door; take my temperature and I had to complete another questionnaire to ensure that things haven’t changed.

    The medical community is scared like many of us and they are reacting like most members of the general public, however they will complete phone assessments and bill the provincial health care plan but that is not an option in Bim.

    There is now speculation there is a second UK variant, from up north. Some scientists now believe there will be other variants, the longer we take to distribute the vaccines.

    Most CoVid victims come from London and the South East, including the port towns of Kent, and in the northern conurbations. There is a correlation with large populations, not water treatment.

    Finally, Finally something posted that is not the WHO CDC and Government and China Propaganda we have been fed since March 2020.
    Every point here is valid.
    They failed to mention the infection fatality rate currently is estimated at 0.2%, with a proven/observed low of 0.01% in Iceland and 0.17% on cruise ships

    The simple fact is that politicians in March of 2020 through a disinformation twitter campaign out of China that was promoting lockdown with literally thousands of twitter bots and millions of tweets, hoodwinked the Western Politicians into fearing a common respiratory cold virus and instituting draconian lockdowns.
    Not to mention these leaders didn’t even follow the measured and proven Pandemic Plans that they had in place for the past 15 years. Following this gigantic boondoggle no Western Leader wishes to step back and admit their error. When it comes to the Health Advisors, the Chief Medical Officers and even our local BAMP none of them either at the top levels wishes to admit error.
    It is hard to believe that none of them can come out with the simple statement – “We were wrong, Covid 19 is a respiratory cold virus that can prove to have serious effects on a minor portion of the population and for an extremely small percentile of people can lead to fatal consequences when various co-morbidities are taken into effect” There is a subset of the population, probably 0.2% of people who should be careful and take precautions, everyone else on the Planet at worst will have a bad flu and at best not even know they have any sort of infection.
    Sars-Cov2 is not a hoax, Covid is not a hoax – but the incredible idiotic over-reaction by most Western Governments to this disease was driven by the hoax that it was the “black plague” or that 4% of humanity would die and that all ages groups were equally susceptible to death from infection.
    It is 14 months now, we all know the real facts and real statistics, 99.999% of people have nothing to fear. There is absolutely no reason to or justification to shut down schools, travel, economies to prevent the spread of a cold virus.

    I congratulate the writer for this and Barbados Underground for posting the proper view and real statistics associated with this disease.

    As an aside the Prison situation in Barbados is the perfect example. Health authorities are patting themselves on the back for handling the “outbreak” at the prison. Outbreak of a cold! Lets look at the facts. 363 people associatied with Dodd’s tested positive with PCR for the Sars-Cov2 Virus. It is not a huge leap to make that they were all under the age of 60 and probably 99% under the age of 50. The government stated one – YES ONE – prisoner who has severe asthma required actual care for the Covid illness that the virus lead to. The remainder were asymptomatic or had a sniffle. Within 10 days 98% of them tested negative for the Sars-Cov2 virus. There was not magic here or yeoman’s labour here. This cohort of people as with 99.999% of humanity had zero chance of any ill effects from Sars-Cov2 and this small isolated case study is perfect proof of it.

    Open the country, open tourism fully, don’t put healthy people in Harrison Point Isolation facility and focus health care on the people who actually get serious Covid-19. Lastly accept the reality that a 90 year old, and 80 year old even a 60 year old with a previous stroke or heart attack or 50 pounds overweight or all 3 combined has a chance of dying from Covid but also from the Flu. We have a robust health system to treat these people.
    Their living and dying is not the be all and end all of Barbados, you don’t close schools and the economy for the impossibility of preventing anyone from dying from a single potential infection.

    Here is how I would parse this data.

    458 cases in one day suggests the testing was localised.

    Localised suggest there was some sort of super spreader.

    Localised also means same water supply.

    The 5 deaths are separate unless they happen to have occurred in the same locale.

    If they did, then I would be looking at the water supply for that area and advising residents to boil their water.
