In every culture, there is a belief in a supernational being (Almighty), and the relationship between humans and God requires worship and sacrifice. And, in any recorded human history, humans practiced some form of cultural religion — spirituality, so, culture cannot occur without education, while education is impossible without some form of societal culture.

From the time in antiquity, religion comprised of regular ceremonies centered on a belief in a higher supernatural power (God — the unknown) that created and maintained the order of things in the universe. Over a period, religions focus on the spiritual aspect of God, creation, human, life after death, eternity, and how to escape suffering or to be adjudicated afterlife. That is the reason why every culture made Gods in its image, similarity, and representation in their cultural space.

There is nothing more important in any culture or life than the worship of something. The only question is whether the worship is the right One, done in the right way. However, every religion believes that they are the right One, worship the right way, and their God is best in their cultural space.

Hence, the essence of worship is to establish and maintain a relationship between human beings and their God within their cultural space. Thus, worship can be defined as an extreme form of love, unthinking devotion and adulation for a God. When God is an exaggerated worship of the cultural self. And, God is as the wind, which touches anything and everything. For that reason, religion can be restrictive, repetitious, show regard for something sacred within an organized system of beliefs and practices, leading to a supernatural spiritual experience.

Therefore, the concept of God is an attempt to forge an identity in confrontation with a limited understanding of the unknown universe. That is why Leeming, David Adams attested that the existence of God fulfills a significant human needs. While Gods are symbols of ultimate reality, and their existence provides a sense of significance in an otherwise random universe. So, religion or worshipping is not a European invention introduced to Africa.

Are human traditions and practices hypothesis or scientific, and how can one discover the reality of religion instead of the true religion?

    The Church has always been and will always be a vector for all kinds of abuses.

    It is impossible to separate abuses against humanity from this socalled Church. That would be akin to separating wetness from water, or evil from their Devil, or wickedness from the albino.

    We have suggested to officials in the Vatican that that criminal organization should be proscribed in the same way as Al Queda.

    For The Church has for nearly two millennia been the fountainhead of wickedness. Alnd all christians are Catholic whether they accept this reality or not. Therefore all christians are complicit in the abuses of children by the criminals given sucker by the Vatican.

    There is catholic and there is Roman Catholic.

    I am sorry but I cannot blame all wickedness on “albinos”. Nor can I blame all Christians for child abuse. And I certainly cannot accept that Africans or African religions and their practitioners are free of wickedness.

    “Albinos” are just the ones who are in the seat of power at present and their evil is therefore being felt more by “non-albinos”.

    Humans are like that. Life is like that. It is a constant struggle, a never-ending battle between good and evil, within and without. We must keep our heads down and fight through.

    The mutilation of the genitals of young girls is still being practised among some African tribes.

    This too is child abuse.

    Unlike some people, I do believe the earth is round. So…. too far east ends up being west.

    African peoples have no control over our social systems.

    Nobody has contended that any society is without failings. Certainty, there is no global African cultural dominance.

    Those arguments are merely intended to deflect.

    It is therefore a false equivalence to make the victim blaming arguments asserted.

    I am not blaming the victims. I am simply making the point that these evils were among us before the “albinos” took control and will be with us long after somebody else assumes control, including us, if we ever get control of ourselves.

    I do not deflect, rather I point to reality. This in no way prevents me from fighting this evil system. It simply reminds me that there are and will always be other evils to fight.

    Genital mutilation is an Islamic cultural imposition on Africa as first seen after the invasions of 538AD. There was no recorded history of it before then.

    The arrival of christianity brought other forms of child abuses by Catholics el al.

    Both the products of Arab or Western colonialism.

    No mutilation of female genitals before the Muslims came.

    Wuh jack, now the Muslims have moved on from that position to other forms of control and the Africans still continue. How come the Africans ain’t moving along with the Muslims.

    Introduction…

    Child abuse is a serious and devastating problem not just in Africa, but the world over; however, the number of children on the continent who are abused has always been underestimated. Child abuse is defined by the WHO as “all forms of physical and emotional ill-treatment, sexual abuse, neglect and exploitation that results in actual or potential harm to the child’s health, development or dignity” [1]. Child labour is common in African countries where grinding poverty propels children into work. Persistence of domestic violence is a threat to basic human rights and a threat to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. Corporal punishment can be defined as the intentional infliction of physical pain with the purpose of deterring unwanted behaviour. It remains an all too common phenomenon in African households and schools, where harsh physical punishment is associated with later aggression and other maladaptive behaviour [2]. Commonly practiced in many regions such as south-west Ethiopia, parents have a poor understanding of any legal framework protecting their children from abuse [3]. It is widely accepted that corporal punishment as a means of correcting children in Africa could have negative consequences on future generations. Data on child protection issues are becoming increasingly available in countries like Ghana, Malawi, Kenya and South Africa, but there is still a dearth of reliable information on child trafficking, commercial sexual exploitation, street children and the prevalence of harmful sociocultural practices. This narrative review aims to outline the current management of child abuse (especially sexual abuse) and highlight the current preventive practice that could be beneficial in a resource-limited environment.

    Epidemiology
    Child abuse research in Africa is still in its infancy and there is a paucity of data from most African countries. Yet, globally an estimated 95 million children experience abuse annually, with the highest rates reported in the World Health Organization (WHO) African region [6]. Research is fairly hit or miss. The earliest study of child sexual abuse in Africa was probably by Westcott, et al. who described 18 cases of child sexual abuse at a Cape Town hospital back in 1984 [5]. More recently, in 2015, a South African study reported lifetime rates of 34% for physical abuse, 16% for emotional abuse and 20% for sexual abuse amongst 15–17 year olds [7]. In nearby Swaziland, nearly one-in-five females had experienced physical abuse in their lifetime with nearly one-in-twenty having experienced abuse that was so severe, that it required medical attention [8]. Alarmingly, child abuse only recently received recognition as a social problem in Nigeria, one of Africa’s largest economies [4].

    Risk factors identified for lifetime childhood physical abuse included maternal death prior to age 13, having lived with three or more families during their childhood, and having experienced emotional abuse prior to age 13 [8]. Data gathered by the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) show that Ghana’s statistics with regard to rape and defilement are so high that they rank in certain instances alongside countries that have a recent history of violent conflict like Sierra Leone or the Democratic Republic of Congo [9]. Child marriage is common in West Africa and in some countries in East and Southern Africa, especially Mozambique, Uganda and Ethiopia [10]. There is a significant amount of violence experienced in these early marriages and a study in Zambia from a Demographic and Health Survey showed a 33.3% level of spousal violence [11].

    Under harmful traditional practices, female genital mutilation is another worrying trend on the continent. Girls from a young age undergo varying forms of genital excision leading to long term problems. The UNICEF estimates published in 2005 suggest that three million girls in sub-Saharan African, Egypt and the Sudan suffer from genital mutilation, with the highest prevalence in countries like Somalia, Ethiopia, Djibouti, Egypt and Sudan, as well as parts of East and West Africa [11]. It is practiced almost universally among Kenyan Somalis, the Masai and a few other groups, reaching a prevalence of 32% in Kenya as a whole [12].

    About 200,000 children are trafficked annually across borders in the sub regions of West and Central Africa, from and into countries such as Benin, Ghana, Nigeria, Mali, Burkina Faso and Mauritania [13]. Ghanaian children are particularly trafficked to Cote d’Ivoire, Togo, Nigeria and the Gambia for domestic service and exploitative labour [14]. Fishing on Lake Volta, Ghana by children is commonplace. These children experience a high level of maltreatment such as being forced to dive to remove trapped nets, as well as physical and verbal abuse, and sexual harassment [15].

    Child sexual abuse
    The definition for child sexual abuse is “forcing or enticing a child or young person to take part in sexual activities, including prostitution, whether or not the child is aware of what is happening”. These activities may involve physical contact, including penetrative (e.g. rape, defilement, buggery or oral sex) or non-penetrative acts. They may include non-contact activities, such as involving children in looking at or in the production of, sexual online images, watching sexual activities or encouraging children to behave in sexually inappropriate ways [16]. Studies considering child sexual abuse in the African context vary in terms of estimates depending on the country under study, type of sexual abuse studied, quality of the data collected (mainly retrospective studies) and the definitions used. Unsurprisingly, the majority of cases are not known by official agencies; however, it is believed that African rates of abuse likely surpass figures elsewhere, mainly because of rapid social change and patriarchal nature of most African societies – variables that have been known to foster sexual abuse [17], [18]. Overall the highest prevalence rates for child sexual abuse reported in Africa are from Morocco, Tanzania and South Africa [19]. However, just because data exist does not necessarily mean that these are the main culprit countries. Other work has revealed that 47% of female child labourers in Nigeria had been sexually assaulted [20]. The National Child Protection study carried out by the Government of Ghana and UNICEF, published in 2014, found that transactional sex (having sex for money or other needed items such as shelter, food and clothes) and children watching pornographic images was the most prevalent forms of sexual abuse within the Volta, Upper West, Upper East, Ashanti, Western and Brong Ahafo regions [9]. The transactional sex figures were reported as above average.9 A growing number of studies, particularly from sub-Saharan Africa, would suggest that many girls’ first sexual experience is unwanted and forced [21].

    Medical management of children who are victims of violence and abuse
    Clinicians who regularly deal with children must maintain a high index of suspicion in order to identify abuse promptly. Bruising remains the most common finding in abused children of all ages [22]. Bruising itself is not dangerous but it may prompt recognition of significant abuse and a disordered family. In addition, it affords the opportunity to intervene to protect the child before serious injury occur. Physical abuse rarely exists on its own and it is important to recognise links with other forms of abuse [23]. Accidental bruises to children tend to occur over bony prominences and on the front of the body [24]. Once a child is walking, the most common accidental bruising sites are the shins and knees [23]. In contrast the most common site for abusive bruises is the head and neck [25]. Ghareman, et al. showed that 11% of children with non-accidental head injury presented with bruising to either the scalp or face [26]. In fact, abusive head trauma is the leading cause of death due to child physical abuse in young children worldwide [27]. The Pittsburgh Infant Brain Injury score (PIBIS) uses four clinical variables: abnormal dermatological exam, age more than or equal to three months, head circumference >85th centile and haemoglobin <11.2 g/dl to determine which infants with vomiting are at increased risk for brain injury and may benefit from neuroimaging [28]. In a major study to determine prior opportunities to identify abuse in children with associated head trauma, children that presented with vomiting, prior child protection concerns and bruising were found to be more likely to also have chronic subdural haemorrhage and healing fractures [29]. Diagnosis is not easy. Vomiting, lethargy, fussiness and decreased oral intake can of course be symptoms of brain injury, but it can also result from many other childhood diseases. Caregivers frequently do not provide a trauma history, or if they do provide one, it tends to be inaccurate or incomplete. Resultantly, abusive head trauma may therefore not be considered as part of the initial differential diagnosis [29]. Table 1 provides some common sense signs that should prompt suspicion.

    Cleansing???

    There is, in the Apocalypse, no symbolic representation of the act of the cleansing of the earth, yet various scriptures show that it is at the epoch of the second advent, and of the establishment of the kingdom of God. If so, it follows the destruction of the wicked and the binding of Satan, while the raised and transfigured saints — constituting “the bride” — are still with the Lord in the clouds of heaven (19:7-9), where they were caught up to meet him in the air, 1 Thess.4:17.
    A restoration of the earth, in connection with the first resurrection, is in accordance with the testimony of scripture, and was the opinion of the ancients. We read in Isaiah: “Behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind,” Isa.65:17.

    “As for my opinion,” saith R. Menasse, a Jewish Rabbi, “I think that after six thousand years, the world shall be destroyed, upon one certain day, or in one hour; that the arches of heaven shall make a stand as immovable; that there will be no more generation or corruption; and that all things by the resurrection shall be renovated, and return to a better condition.” He also assures us that “this, without doubt, is the opinion of the most learned Aben Ezra,” who looked for it in the new earth of Isa.65:17.

    “Man shall be restored in that time, namely, in the days of the Messiah, to that state in which he was before the first man sinned.” — R. Moses Nachmanides in Duet. § 45.

That, by this resurrection, he meant a resurrection prior to the millennium, is manifest from what follows…. It is worthy of remark, that the two ancient authors, whose words have just been quoted, speak of the seventh millennium as ‘that day’ — the day in which God will renew the world, and in which he alone shall be exalted.” — Dis. on Mill. by Bishop Russell, Prof. Eccl.     “The Divine institution of a sabbatical, or seventh year’s solemnity among the Jews, has a plain typical reference to the seventh chiliad, or millenary of the world, according to the well known tradition among the Jewish doctors, adopted by many in every age of the Christian Church, that this world will attain to its limit at the end of 6000 years.” — Mede.

    Thomas Burnet (Theory of Earth, Lon.1697) states “that it was the received opinion of the primitive church from the days of the apostles to the council of Nice, that this earth would continue 6000 years, when the resurrection of the just, and conflagration of the earth, would usher in the millennium and reign of Christ on earth.”

    “God’s blessing the Sabbath day, and resting on it from all his works, was a type of that glorious rest that the saints shall have when the six days of this world are fully ended…. He will finish the toil and travail of his saints, with the burden of the beasts and the curse of the ground, and bring all into rest for a thousand years…. None ever saw this world as it was in its first creation but Adam and his wife, neither will any see it until the manifestation of the children of God; i.e., until the redemption or resurrection of the saints.” — John Bunyan’s Works, vol.6, pp.301, 329.

    “I expect with Paul a reparation of all the evils caused by sin, for which he represents the creatures as groaning and travailing.” — John Calvin, in his “Institutes.”

    The reformation of the earth “never was, nor yet shall be, till the righteous King and Judge appear for the restoration of all things.” — John Knox.

    Whose fire was kindled at the prophet’s lamp,
    The time of rest, the promised Sabbath, comes:
    Six thousand years of sorrow have well nigh

    Over a sinful world; and what remains
    Of this tempestuous state of human things,
    Is merely as the working of a sea
    Before a calm, that rocks itself to rest;
    For HE, whose car the winds are, and the clouds

    When sin hath moved him, and his wrath is hot,
    Shall visit earth in mercy; shall descend,
    Propitious, in his chariot paved with love;
    And what his storms have blasted and defaced
    For man’s revolt, shall with a smile repair.”

    The above are only a few of many extracts which might be made, showing the faith of the church in past ages; but which are of no weight, only as they are in accordance with the harmony of scriptural testimony.

    When man sinned, this earth was cursed for his sake. The Lord said to him, “Cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life; thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth unto thee, and thou shalt eat the herb of the field; in the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return,” Gen.3:17-19.

    Such was the curse to which the whole creation was subjected because man sinned. “For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope,” Rom.8:20. And this hope is for a removal of the curse thus inflicted, and a restoration of all things to their original condition.

    As the earth was subjected to the curse at the time when man was made subject to death, the removal of the former would naturally be expected at the epoch of the fulfillment of the promise to the just: “I will ransom them from the power of the grave; I will redeem them from death: O death I will be thy plagues; O grave I will be thy destruction,” Hos.13:14. And thus Paul testifies: “For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God, … Because the creature itself, also, shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God. For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now. And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the first fruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body,” Rom.8:19, 21-23.

    The removal of the curse removes also its consequences. Thus it is promised: “Instead of the thorn shall come up the fir tree, and instead of the briar shall come up the myrtle tree,” Isa.55:13. “The inhabitant shall not say I am sick: the people that dwell therein shall be forgiven their iniquity,” Isa.33:24. “He will swallow up death in victory; and the Lord God will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the rebuke of his people will he take away from off all the earth; for the Lord hath spoken it,” Isa.25:8. “For behold, I create new heavens and a new earth,” Isa.65:17. “And there shall be no more curse,” Rev.22:3. “For the Lord shall comfort Zion: he will comfort all her waste places; and he will make her wilderness like Eden, and her desert like the garden of the Lord; joy and gladness shall be found therein, thanksgiving, and the voice of melody,” Isa.51:3.

    The removal of the curse is called “the regeneration” (Matt.19:28), “the times of refreshing,” and of “restitution;” which Peter places at the advent of Christ: “whom the heavens must receive until the times of restitution(10) of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began,” Acts 3:21. He also places it at “the perdition of ungodly men,” which must synchronize with the epoch when the beast “goeth into perdition” (17:11), and “the remnant” are “slain with the sword,” (19:21); “when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven, with his mighty angels, in flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ,” 2 Thess.1:7, 8. Says Peter: “The heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word [‘whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished’ v.6] are kept in store, reserved unto fire, against the day of judgment, and perdition of ungodly men…. But the day of the Lord will come, as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also; and the works that are therein shall be burned up…. Nevertheless, we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness,” i.e., “righteous persons” — Horsely, 2 Pet.3:7-13. This harmonizes with the day that “cometh that shall burn as an oven,” when “all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly” shall be burned up, and become “ashes under the soles” of those on whom “shall the Sun of righteousness arise,” (Mal.4:1-3); which must be the time intervening between the resurrection of the righteous and that of the wicked. This also harmonizes with the testimony of our Saviour, that when, “in the end of this world,” He “shall send forth his angels and gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity, and shall cast them into a furnace of fire; … then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father,” Matt.13:40-43.

    The earth being cleansed, and all things made new, it will have been prepared for the “dwelling” of “righteous persons” (2 Pet.3:13), who, — having “put on incorruption” (1 Cor.15:53), and been “caught up … in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air” (1 Thess.4:17), where, constituting “the bride,” “the Lamb’s wife,” they were “called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb” (19:7-9), — will descend from heaven to take possession. Thus John writes, that one of the angels said to him: “Come hither, I will show thee the bride, the Lamb’s wife. And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and he showed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God,” 21:9, 10.

    The earth and seas are passed away,
    And the old rolling skies!

    From the third heaven where God resides,
    That holy, happy place,
    The New Jerusalem comes down

    Slavery laws still embedded in constitutions and on statute books need to be REMOVED from every country and island across the earth FORTHWITH.

    the act of modern day slavery starts with and comes in very invasive and different forms of violence including sexual abuse of children, women etc and escalates from there.

    As wunna know I am not much into misogynistic Middle Easter religions.

    Not into female genital mutilation [FGM] either. I feel that my pokey is mine and is perfect as is. It does not need any fixing. Any man who does not like it as is can move right along.

    Pacha may be right, it seems as though FGM actually predates Islam, and was practiced by nomadic Arabs long before Islam was born. I guess the fellas were away in the desert for long periods and felt that if a woman’s [young girls really] clitoris, and labia minor and labia major were all cut out and that if the opening to her vagina was partially sewn up that that would prevent her from having sex with the man’s competitors. It does not work because even though intact genitals ensure better sex, the best sex actually begins and ends in the brain, that sweet feeling we call orgasm is actually brain thing.

    It wasn’t called child abuse in those days. It was called procreating for the survival of the species. It is no longer necessary. It is no longer normal. Children no longer see it as normal.

    But the homosexual acts perpetrated by the Roman Catholic priests were clearly for pleasure and not procreation. Way past the time it was necessary and even more plainly, not productive.

    I suggest that we just try to learn more about the culture of our ancestors without expecting to find perfection. We must examine everything in its context and learn the lessons that present themselves. Clear heads and less negative emotion would make the task more productive.

    Reclaiming the missing part of ourselves would make us whole but still flawed human beings. Ridding ourselves of the European brainwashing would make us better but not perfect.

    Embarking on the journey focussed on ourselves and our ancestors, rather than the “albinos” would free us to enjoy the adventure without the terrible burden of vitriol weighing us down. I am certain that we would gain the necessary power during such a joyous journey to reclaim our rightful place in the world as equal human beings.

    But we must be prepared to embrace all of ourselves as human beings, accepting that we are flawed.

    You could be quite right there.

    Even your book of Jewish mythology which you use to try to control the minds of black people is definitely full of “child abuse”.

    How else do you explain those allegories in which the Jewish version of Zeus orders the slaughtering of boys and the raping of pubescent girls?

    Even Zeus on Mount Olympus (your Yahweh on Mount Horeb/Sinai) was encouraging poor Abraham to commit child murder by instructing him to sacrifice his ‘miracle’ son Isaac.
