  • To many Nehemiah 3 is very dull and boring chapter, but once we believe that ALL scripture is given by inspiration of God and that it is profitable for our spiritual and other forms of edification, then it behoves us to dig up the nuggets therein and think and apply them to our lives.
  • It can be deduced from this chapter the promise that if, and when God’s people would work together harmoniously that they will accomplish much in the work of the Lord.
  • This is what we hope to do in our church. Nehemiah used the principles of small group or cell group ministry in his plan to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem, and so can we.

    Mark 9:34-37; But they kept quiet because on the way they had argued about who was the greatest.     Mark 10:13-16; People were bringing little children to Jesus for him to place his hands on them, but the disciples rebuked them. When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.” And he took the children in his arms, placed his hands on them and blessed them.

    Acts 10:38 How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, and how he went around doing good and healing all who were under the power of the devil, because God was with him.

    Hebrews 12:2; fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of God.

    Luke 22: 42 “Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done.”

    Hebrews 5: 8 Son though he was, he learned obedience from what he suffered.

    We thought you were adroit at interpreting fables, fairy tales and even children bedtime stories; whether Jewish or European.

    Whenever you come here, you display your ignorance of the Bible- the Word of God.

    John 2: 20 and 27,teaches that sincere born again Bible believers have the indwelling Holy Spirit as their indwelling Bible teacher, so that the Christian does not need any teaching apart from what is found in the Word of God as to the truth of ” God. The Gnostics professed to have additional truth, but John is saying here that there is no additional truth to what is found in the Word of God.

    Ephesians 4:11, & I Corinthians 12 clearly states that .God has made specific provision for teachers in the Church. This means that with the Word of God in our hands and the Spirit of God in our hearts, we have all that we need for instruction in the truth of God.

    Given the omnipresence of your desert god Yahweh, can we conclude that same “Word of God” can be found in the mythological tales and cultural fables of other peoples like the Aztecs and Incas and even those of the Sumerians, Egyptians and Greeks?

    Or is your ‘spiritual’ vista limited to the arid plains of the Middle East where mirages and miracles were par for the course?

    That the ” same “Word of God” can be found in the mythological tales and cultural fables of other peoples like the Aztecs and Incas and even those of the Sumerians, Egyptians and Greeks” might reasonably be accounted for in the record of the dispersion of the folk with the confusion of languages at Babel described in Genesis 11.

    The Ethiopian eunuch, was reading the prophet Esias.

    He was reading Hebrew I presume.

    Means he was taught how to read the language.

    Means he probably was Jewish.

    He was a eunuch which means he was probably a slave.

    With all respect, John,what does the baptism of the Ethiopian eunuch by immersion have to do with the repair of the walls of Jerusalem after the Babylonian exile by Nehemiah as recorded in Nehemiah 3.

    We are taught in the book of Acts that Philip the evangelist,had four unmarried daughters who had the gift of prophecy.
    This would suggest that he did not need a concubine.

    The reason for eunuchs in many ancient kingdoms is well known.

    I wont waste my time with the misinterpretation of Jesus’ statement in Matthew 19:10–12.
    The Bible is quite clear on who may be legitimately married in God’s sight.

    You mean to say that Philip did not walk in the Grand Master Abraham’s shoes with his many ‘black’ concubines (including the black servant girl Hagar) along with his wife Sarah who was also his ‘half’ sister?

    BTW, neither did Solomon need a concubine (aka outside woman) since he also had 700 lawfully wedded concubines in his harem and all blessed in the sight of Yahweh.

    The clergy-in its myriad forms- can opt out of acting as agents of the State when it comes to performing matrimonial ceremonies.

    Why should eunuchs be denied the ‘joy’ of sex?

    Wasn’t the Biblical character Jesus himself sympathetic to the ‘special’ status of these humans?

    Wasn’t the TV film the “Odd Couple” a glimpse into the lives of a same-sex couple sans sexe?
