The unemployment situation in St George North is dreadful.  Disappointing voters with false promises is not an option in this by-election.  Candidates must offer workable plans, to effectively address the mass unemployment problems in St George North.

There are six candidates seeking to work for the people of St George North, for the next 30 months.   It is important that none of us follow the bad examples of those who have gone before us.

Candidates who plan to use the desperate unemployed people of St George North as pawns, just to secure a seat in the House of Assembly for their party, are doing the unconscionable.  They are ensuring that the people continue to suffer, during these exceptionally difficult times.  The present suffering is compounded by an unnecessary IMF austerity program, and a global COVID-19 pandemic.

Candidates who make promises that they know they cannot keep, are deceiving voters’ families.  Candidates who know that they have no capacity to implement their party’s plans, push that deceit beyond tolerable levels.

Career politicians have repeatedly broken their promises to previous generations of voters.  Those voters had the patience to tolerate and forgive those, who repeatedly deceived them with empty promises.
The current generation of young voters are different – they will not forgive that type of deceit.  Candidates without any workable economic plans for the families of St George North, are playing with fire.

  1. waru,

you should have asked that before you went off on your rant and talked nonsense without fully understanding or having no care as to what it meant because you wanted to get a certain point across.

so it doesnt matter now, does it?

  2. Man, neither the DLP or the BLP have done anything to reduce crime.

To reduce crime means getting to its root causes.

    They know what they are.

  3. Just read Rudi Webster’s offering right through. The problem with Garfield Sobers was his English. He has corrected that over the years. His analytical ability was always impeccable. And instinctively so.

Cricket is physics, strategy, attitude and athleticism.

It cannot be played by idiots.

  4. Greene i keep hearing this nonsense from you dems about inviting 5 drug lords to parliament.Tell us weren , these drug lords associated with the DLP?Your other nonsense about Mr Thompso and crime wasa mere catch phrase he was using to try to win tbe 99 election as was his style of talking pretty without substance like his promised expose in queens park which we are still waiting for.All he desired was to be PM without any clue what thst entailed. This is why he ran away from Mr Athur and a 3rd sttaight defeat in 2003 which would have been the final nail in his coffin via leadership in my view. All style and no substance.Tell us was it not AG King who stated they were no gangs in Barbados just a few lawless guys doing foolishness.Even back then in the 80, s the dems refuded to take action early so dpare us the long talk Greene.

Please quote exactly where did I “ defend” Mr. Reifer. I merely said that in my opinion @ David is trying to imply that Mr. Reifer is or will be a poor debater. If you kill somebody and I said that somebody thought or thinks you kill them , does that mean I am defending you ? Lorenzo, where were you taught that an opinion is a defense ? Is this what the taxpayers have paid for by giving us free education? I said very early in this discussion that I would hope that the good people of SGN vote a third party candidate or independent.
Don’t you see that you are now being being hailed as nothing more than a defender of the BLP and Mottley and that in your eyes, who ever don’t agree with you are: lightweights, can’t run a bread shop, pea brain, not the brightest bulb etc.
Don’t you see how silly you look getting up every day telling other people who to “mind” and who to “ don’t mind”?
You started off with a few and you have now told almost everybody on BU who they support, who they don’t support and who is anti- Mottley and who “ only want the government to fail”.
You have even gone so far to tell the Blogmaster who to ban.
Lorenzo, get a hold of yourself man , don’t become a nuisance.
    Peace.

  6. “it doesnt matter now, does it?”

nah…you made an ass of yourself again, just like ya did the other day with the vendor issue that U brought up to deflect, now ya brought up another issue that has nothing to do with any comment anyone made….and realized too late that i would wrap it tightly around ya neck untiil ya tongue touches ya toes…, since am well trained on that topic…

  7. The only reason I will be watching the debates is to hear Grenville Phillips as leader of a party even though I cannot see it. I hear faith is the belief in things unseen.

But seriously, I want to hear which GP 2 turns up for the debate. The smart one or…

  8. Donna,

what has my school mate Grenville done you? lol

  9. Skinner unlike you i state clearly where i stand.Let me do so for you again I SUPPORT MS MOTTLEY AND THE BLPWHICH IS MY RIGHT.YOU ON THE OTHER HAND PRETEND TO BE NEUTRL WHILE SHOWING AN OBVIOUS BIAS FOR THE DEMS WHICH IS OBVIOUS TO ME AND WHICH IS ALSO YOUR RIGHT. I saw you make some glib comment about your niece being happy about her garbage being colleted and driving in the new electric buses.Trust me you do not live about here so these are small issues to you but that was not the case prior 2018 when you did not know when your garbage would have been collected somtimes not for 4 weeks or when you would get a bus. Therefore to get these things solved under ths government IS A BIG DEAL CAPICHE. Things here certainly had improved prior to covid which have major countries struggling far less Barbados. However no one said everything was perfect but i am confident things will look up again with or without the overseas doom and gloomers. Therefore i come on this blog like everyone else and state my view if you or anyone else do not like it tough but yo7 will not derail me or stop me from calling out your agenda. The only neutral blogger on here is Artax and possibly Waru as she cares nothing about politicians all the rest are biased one way or the other capiche.

  10. @ Lorenzo October 21, 2020 8:18 AM

Come on Lorenzo man, you have now broken the needle on the meter measuring the height of ‘yardfowlism’.

Can’t you think for yourself and see this is a ‘perfect’ case of the red pot calling the yellow kettle black?

Can’t you see that what MAM did on the Weymouth field was a carbon copy of what you claim Thompson did in the Queen’s park?

Same old bag of tricks to fool playing field “idiots” like you!

Sometimes it’s good to look into the mirror and see both sides of the political fence on which sits a jackass which has been taken for a ride by the Mal(m)oney clown.

  11. I recall when Barbadians were voicing their concerns about the upsurge in gun and gang related violence, then Attorney General Maurice King boldly and publicly declared, ‘there were no gangs in Barbados.’ And, it was during this period Keith Simmons was Minister of Public Safety, with responsibility for RBPF. So, if we want to expand the argument, then, it’s reasonable to assume, during the DLP’s tenure from May 28, 1986 to September 6, 1994, they didn’t do anything to address the crime situation.

Unless it’s being ‘ludicrously suggested’ there was a lull in crime between 1986 and 1994, and it subsequently escalated the day after the 1994 general elections, to the point of becoming a major concern for Thompson and the DEMS in 1999.

If not, then, it would be much more reasonable and rational to conclude “now we are reaping the world wind” as a result of SUCCESSIVE, INCOMPETENT BLP and DLP administrations.

Additionally, I also recall, during the 2008 general election campaign, the DEMS went the length and breadth of Barbados, talking about BLP corruption and introducing ITAL within the first 100 days after being elected. They dedicated three (3) pages of their 2008 election manifesto to ‘good governance.’
I also recall a few days after winning the 2008 general elections, an agitated looking PM Thompson and then AG Freundel Stuart, appeared in the media, waving papers and talking about corruption, theft and government funds in foreign bank accounts, which he promised to investigate and return the stolen funds to the Treasury.

Unfortunately, Thompson died in October 2010. But, what prevent his successor, Fruendel Stuart from continuing the investigation (if it had ever commenced)? After all, he had EIGHT (8) YEARS to do so.

A few days after the May 24, 2018 general elections, seeing an agitated looking PM Mottley appearing in the media with AG Dale Marshall, waving papers and talking about corruption, reminded me of the Thompson/Stuart scenario.

What I can ‘say’ is, there are striking similarities between Thompson and Mottley, as it relates to their childhood dream of becoming PM, the difficulties they encountered realising that dream; their campaign strategies of focusing on corruption, good governance and introducing integrity legislation. They also promised to investigate the alleged theft of government funds…….. with both coming to power……. “only to do nothing about it.”

I’m happy to know “PRETENDING TO BE NEUTRAL” has given me the ability to ‘see,’ from BOTH EYES, there aren’t any fundamental or significant political, philosophical and ideological differences between the BLP and DLP.

  12. ART

The common there is hartley henry

  13. Mosst her will agree that there is no “big” difference between the Bs and Ds not just a “PRETENDING TO BE NEUTRAL” . even a yardfowl like me

  16. “Waru as she cares nothing about politicians all the rest are biased one way or the other capiche.”

only yardfowls care about politicians ok, everyone else would gladly and voluntarily buy them a one way ticket to the hottest hell….yardfowls can walk….when they start caring for the people who elected them and pay them a salary, then there will be a difference…

Miller ……Spike/sheman Lorenza is really overdoing it…..these defies reality and transcends into a freaking twilight zone dimension…

  17. Artax,

sometimes you make me laugh. and you did this time.

but you forgot to dissect the inviting drug dealers to parliament one. you can always gloss over that one by saying the DLP were friends with the same drug dealers. there that is a suggestion that would negate that argument, wouldnt it?

how about Maloney? during the election he was vilified by the BLP and now he is a saint if not a saviour. lets see, maybe that was MAM’s way of bringing him into the fold. cuss him then with his tail between legs he will submit to the tremendous will of the Madam.

and the Consultant Dottin? well we could always speculate that he advised them to add an 2nd ACOP who would direct a police service short of staff to patrol hot spots and submit files on time all the while working for low wages that couldnt attract worthwhile candidates even in a period of layoffs

and the promise to prosecute former DLP MPs- Hartley Henry when he was advising Thompson the same play book was used

how about MAM never speaking about the murders and gun crime? well she cant do anything about it. it is a social problem going back to King when he said there were no gangs in Bim. if King and the DLP had done something about it we would not be here today. that takes care of that one

we can go on and on.

but the bottom line is, the BLP is in power now, gun crime and murders are rising and there is no plan at least none that we know of, coming from the BLP advised Hartley Henry party. oh but the common denominator is Hartley Henry. maybe that is why.

Remain neutral my ex campaign manager. you are doing a fair job of it.

  18. Didn’t the idea of a debate begin with Mottley? When did BARJAM come into it as “organiser”? Perhaps Stuart left a copy of a quote from Vergil’s The Aeneid at DLP HQ “ I fear the Greeks even those bearing gifts” and they decided to decline the invitation.

The debate is a Trojan horse

  19. @ Greene

Are you familiar with the Adams gang in North London?

  24. Greene,

Grenville has done me nothing of significance. I am just trying to figure out how a person could be so smart and so stupid at the same time. It fascinates me. Grenville is an interesting study.

P.S. I have agreed with Hal Austin two days straight. That should alert you to the fact that I am a grown up, not a little girl and I don’t mix personality with debates of substance.

  28. @Sargeant

Barbados is not a Catholic country.

  29. Imagine a grown man afraid of a lady in a debate and persons on here looking for all kinda excuses for him.Of course that is his right but having observed him on my television it seems he has to read off a prepared script for every thing he says.zNothing seems to come straight ftom the heart. Therefore although i respect him as crivketer and coach he is not a politician at least not now.

  30. @David,

it would be instructive if you could just bullet-point the changes in Bim that you would like to see.

  31. @ David October 21, 2020 12:25 PM
“Barbados is not a Catholic country.”
    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

    You are right!

Neither is it a ‘Christian’ country since abortions are legally permitted despite the demographic ‘factoid’ that 70 % of babies are born outside of ‘holy’ wedlock in Barbados.

  32. @ Greene

Coincidentally, you make me laugh as well, and hysterically too.

You often remind of the ‘old school, die hard’ party supporters that are regarded as regular callers on the ‘call-in-programmes.’

My intention was to indicate to all and sundry that there aren’t any differences between the BLP and DLP. Your 10:23 AM contribution was your way of deliberately attempting to take my contribution way, way out of context.

RE: “but you forgot to dissect the inviting drug dealers to parliament one. you can always gloss over that one by saying the DLP were friends with the same drug dealers. there that is a suggestion that would negate that argument, wouldnt it?”

I’ve mentioned in this forum of NOT AGREE with Mottley for inviting alleged ‘drug lords’ to the opening of Parliament. Perhaps if I KEPT mentioning it as often as you do, would be enough to CONVINCE you I didn’t agree. Also, I DID NOT mentioned anything about the DLP being in bed with those same guys would negate the argument. That’s your way of trying to lead the suspect in that direction….. an old ‘police trick.’
But, judging from your constant referral to the drug men and Parliament, is it reasonable to assume you’re suggesting ‘drug lords’ in Parliament is responsible for the upsurge in crime? If so, then, perhaps you may want to present statistics or any other substantiating evidence as proof.

RE: “how about Maloney? during the election he was vilified by the BLP and now he is a saint if not a saviour. lets see, maybe that was MAM’s way of bringing him into the fold. cuss him then with his tail between legs he will submit to the tremendous will of the Madam.”

    I agree.

RE: ‘and the Consultant Dottin? well we could always speculate that he advised them to add an 2nd ACOP who would direct a police service short of staff to patrol hot spots and submit files on time all the while working for low wages that couldnt attract worthwhile candidates even in a period of layoffs.”

You could speculate on whatever you choose to. I’ve already expressed my disagreement with the appointment of Dottin as a consultant, especially when there is a Criminal Justice and Research Planning Unit (CJRPU), of which its Director is a former sargeant of police.
However, as it relates to the 2nd Deputy CoP, although I DID NOT AGREE with the process, I believe Williams should have been appointed in the position before Erwin Boyce…. and even as CoP, before Tyrone Griffith. Recall, under the previous administration, former AG Brathwaite CHANGED the qualifying requirements for DepCoP. Boyce was sent to the UK to pursue the specific course to make him eligible for the post. He was subsequently appointed to the position, shortly after returning to the island.
It is interesting to note, Williams is the most qualified police officer in the RBPF and had already possessed the specific qualification Boyce was sent to do. Before the usual suspects come out to talk about people being obsessed with qualifications, if an organisation changes its qualifying prerequisites for a specific post, and a vacancy arises, then, in ALL FAIRNESS, the individual who ALREADY has the qualifications should be given the job.
I’ve also mentioned this on BU several times, without rebuttal or comment from any other contributor.

RE: “how about MAM never speaking about the murders and gun crime? well she cant do anything about it. it is a social problem going back to King when he said there were no gangs in Bim. if King and the DLP had done something about it we would not be here today. that takes care of that one.”

Greene, this is where your DISHONESTY comes to the fore. You implied if the BLP had taken Thompson’s mantra of ‘crime and violence’ seriously in 1999 and “had done something about it we would not be here today.”
MY POINT, which you purposely or deliberately ignored, was “…….it would be much MORE REASONABLE and RATIONAL to CONCLUDE “now we are reaping the world wind” (of crime) as a result of SUCCESSIVE, INCOMPETENT BLP and DLP administrations.

RE: “and the promise to prosecute former DLP MPs- Hartley Henry when he was advising Thompson the same play book was used.”

“but the bottom line is, the BLP is in power now, gun crime and murders are rising and there is no plan at least none that we know of, coming from the BLP advised Hartley Henry party. oh but the common denominator is Hartley Henry. maybe that is why.”

In his October 21, 2020 9:55 AM contribution, ‘john2’ wrote: “The common there is hartley henry.” I responded with “Hahahahaha…… I forget all about Hartley ‘The King Maker.’…” and “Spot on.”

Based on my comments about the SIMILARITIES of Thompson and Mottley BEFORE and AFTER they became PM, I interpreted jonh2’s comment to mean Henry made Thompson ‘king’ and Mottley, ‘queen.’
But, knowing you high I.Q guys, you’ll form your interpretation of that comment to ‘tell’ me what I meant and rebut accordingly, as is evidenced by your two above comments.
On one hand, without asking for clarification, some of you guys interpret other people’s comments to mean what you want it to mean. But on the other, anyone who does similarly, is advised to ask for clarification before assuming what was written.

The problem with you is, you perceive anyone presenting another perspective to counter your opinions as ‘pretending to be neutral,’ …….. but people agreeing with them, without challenge or question……. are ‘neutral.’

As for being neutral, thank you very much for informing me “(I’m) doing a fair job of it.”

“Barbados is not a Catholic country”
    un huh.
But Bim is a Christian country? With more places of worship per sq.mile than most places on earth. And you hear some tell you their “corporation, donates equally to the B’s and the D’s”, many of those same entities donate equally to the Catholic and Anglican assemblies. The economic influence of the Catholics in Bim cannot be discounted. And that from an agnostic.

  34. @Artax

you dont have to thank me. you deserve to be recognised for your neutrality such as it is.

now i must confess that i was fusing what you submitted with what John2 and Lorenzo said. i should have alerted you to that. my apologies.

i appreciate your response. many posters would have not gone to those lengths to reply.

U read that piece from artax to greene about interpeting what one said to mean it How u want to?

“The economic influence of the Catholics in Bim cannot be discounted. And that from an agnostic.”
    ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Neither can you discount the old Jewish financial influences nor the growing Hindu and Islamic contributions to buy political connections.

For there is clearly a golden thread of economic monotheism called ‘Money’ running right through that religious fabric of hypocrisy.

  37. @David
Barbados is not a Catholic country.
    +++++++++++++++
Ah David but he does have some moral suasion, doesn’t he? He doesn’t have an Army (the Swiss Guards don’t qualify) but his influence around the world still counts for something never mind Stalin who when the question of the Pope’s influence on peace was alleged to have said “The Pope how many divisions does he have?”

  38. Oh laaawd I am being called an elitist by the same people backing Floyd and Verla. Piss in muh RH pocket do. Floyd is not debating because he can’t; nothing to do with canvassing, any idiot knows a debate gives you far a greater ‘canvass’ in a shorter space of time than any walk about. The people are not stupid. 🤣🤣

    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Pound for debating pound, that clearly makes Grenville P 11 the best candidate for the job of MP.

Grenville would make mince meat of your girl Moore with his incisively no-nonsense debating skills.

If only he would keep out of people’s bedroom business he would make the preferred candidate to represent SGN.

  40. Firstly, my girl Moore? Secondly, based on Moore’s performance in the Senate versus the pissery GPII writes and speaks, I doubt very much GPII would eclipse Moore in any debate. Wuh I would nyam GPII and I ain’t too bright at all. But at least GPII is ready and willing whilst Floyd busy canvassing people at 8:05pm–the same RH time the people watching the debate on CBC. But hear this, he has an ad in today’s BT promoting Zoom meetings every Monday and Wednesday night at 8pm until the election. He don’t canvass on Monday and Wednesday nights? The people ain’t foolish!🤣🤣

  41. @ Enuff October 21, 2020 7:05 PM

It seems you, “Enuff”, don’t like GP11 because he has denuded your woman MAM on the ‘Republic’ thingie.

Why not a referendum on the Republic matter which is of total national interest instead of some petty same-sex union malarkey?

BTW, is the Nelson statue going to be removed before or after the by-election or kept in the bag of tricks to be released like a bakku man some time next year?

Here is a wager for you Enuff!
Which event do you think would be taking place first in your falling–down Bridgetown?

The rejection of the Nelson erection or the erection of the Hyatt rejection?
