@Vincent. Wheel and come again. The US$ was crowned the world reserve currency at the Bretton Woods meeting. Even the French finance minister at the meeting intoned, at the time, how an exborbitant privilege bestowed upon the USA.

@Vincent . John Keynes had proposed an alternative currency to the US$ called the bancor to be controlled by the IMF. However, his idea was not supported by the USA (for obvious reason) and others. By the time of the collapse of Bretton woods agreement in 1972 the world was already addicted to the green backs. Nixon then send Kissinger to Saudi Arabia to cut a deal with kingdom. The deal was, Saudi Arabia would price oil in US$ and in exchange the USA would provide the kingdom with arms and USA military protection.

What you have keyboarded are a mixture of opinions and facts. I do not see where they require me to wheel and come again about the USA dollar being a reserve currency.
Perhaps you need to review what a reserve currency is and how a national currency becomes a reserve currency.

You come with a bias.I am only interested in a scientific approach to this issue.

There is a price to be paid for having a reserve currency. Essentially you become a bank to the rest of the world, therefore it becomes almost impossible to achieve a trade surplus. Trump’s trade tariffs are useless ploy. And with the largest debt held, the only reason why the financial community still have confident in the US$, is because there’s no other alternative for now.

  9. The Chinese and many of the world developed countries are vested in US instruments. This is the geopolitical Vincent is not considering.

@Vincent. I am at a loss. For a man of your intellectual standing I am disappointed. Bias! for what!.

@Vincent . Throughout history countries with large economies and military power naturally evolved to monetary supremacy. After WWII the USA naturally cemented its position in this scenario.
