Monday Sermon – Encourage Others To Growth

Last week, we learnt that Jesus instructed those who wanted to follow Him, that they should obey His commandments.  These commandments or instructions train the follower for future responsibilities.  As we train, we grow. Those who choose not to pursue this training will not lose their salvation.  However, they do themselves a grave disservice.  If…

Last week, we learnt that Jesus instructed those who wanted to follow Him, that they should obey His commandments.  These commandments or instructions train the follower for future responsibilities.  As we train, we grow.

Those who choose not to pursue this training will not lose their salvation.  However, they do themselves a grave disservice.  If they happen to be influential, then they can cause others to remain spiritually infantile.

If people remain spiritually infantile, then they will likely never learn to overcome temptations.  There are consequences for irresponsibly influencing others to remain vulnerable to temptations.  Hear Jesus.


“But whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to sin, it would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were drowned in the depth of the sea.”  (Matthew 18:6)

We must be very careful not to dissuade others from growing.  As we train, we will inevitably stumble.  However, through practice, we get progressively better.

    @Ironside… Thanks for the honest answer.

    Damn… Looks like the power spike also took out my video card, and my new MB can only support two monitors at a time.

    I will need to procure another video card tomorrow. I truly can’t work effectively with only two screens.

    Chris:

    This is a space where we are to encourage others in their preparatory training to maturity. Jesus instructed His followers exactly what this training was (Matthew 5 to 7).

    Since it is a public space, there are those who will benefit, and grow. However, it also attracts those who are convicted, because they spent their lives justifying their decision not to start this important training.

    Since I am encouraging growth, which Jesus instructed, and which they rejected, I have become their target. Rather than just scroll to another article that they fancy, they park here and provide an object lesson of what someone who has rejected their training looks like.

    So, you will find encouraging words and honest searches for truth here. But you will also find what Jesus called weeping and gnashing of teeth.

    1- he HAS NOT PRODUCED ANY EVIDENCE THAT HE HAS ANY SOLUTIONS FOR BARBADOS
    2- he does nothing to enhance his reputation as being competent.
    3- His manner of delivery is ineffective.
    4- He is not a naturally gifted communicator
    5- The problem with Grenville is that nobody can teach him anything.
    6- He takes everything personally and gets defensive.
    7- He digs his heels in even if he is standing in a pile of crap.
    8- He is a mere political wannabe who is nothing but a prime peddler of propaganda!

    WE ARE TRYING TO HELP YOU NOT HARM YOU BUT YOU CANT AND WONT LEARN

    Do you really have to repeat everything everybody else (Donna, Miller, Ironside) said on this blog like a parrot?

    How about some original, specific, detailed reasoned criticisms OF YOUR OWN that get past: “bovine excrement” and “SOLUTIONS BARBADOS HAS NO SOLUTIONS FOR BARBADOS”? We have heard these a dozen times already in the comments on this post alone!

    Surely by now Grenville has concluded that only a parrot or an idiot would keep repeating himself that way? Hence he can simply ignore you?

    Tell you what, doc: how about trying a little harder to blow that psychosis for me? Remember?

    No Grenville, as usual I end up bringing THE UNVARNISHED TRUTH! That is what I have been known for since school days. A big mouth but a fair mouth that people seek out when they want an honest and therefore valuable opinion. Nobody ever accused me of bringing poison. Not ever!

    But you label honest criticism as “poison”. “the term “arrested development” comes to mind when I read your posts.

    You will do even more poorly in the next election because you will have learnt nothing in the five years that intervene..
