  1. Since when has the government been responsible for the criminal mentality of some islanders? It is not. I can only repeat myself: sun, rum, sand and shooting belong to the Caribbean like snow, ice, oil and electric cars to Norway. If you don’t like it on the island, you can emigrate.

I know thousands of residents who feel safe and like living here. Obviously all opposition members who survived the last election have gathered here against the most honourable AG.

  2. The opposition forces here are making everything bad: the country, the people, the climate, the economy, the finances, our beloved government and everything else.

How about praising the police for the fact that almost all murders are cleared up and many people end up in prison?

  3. The job of law enforcement is to solve crime
However the question staring the populace in the face
Begins with accountabilty and begs the question how did barbados become littered with high power weapons

Since the day both governments…BECAME THE CRIMINALS….and unleashed their goddamn criminal elements who do their bidding on the people and the island…that is why government is responsible…ya parliament is INFESTED WITH CRIMINALS claiming to be leaders…

@Mariposa. IBIS tracking technology shows that the majority of the illegal guns that find their way on the streets of regional countries originated in the USA. Traffficking in small arms is big business.

The USA don’t give a damn about illegal guns flowing from their shore and creating havoc in the streets of Central america and the Caribbean. All they care about about is the drugs from the region flowing into the USA… the so-called war on drugs. Combine this predicament with corruption and incompetent at the ports plus a porous coastline border and that is how the guns and ammunitions get on the Island.

Our proximity to the USA and their overzealous love affair with guns is the price we are paying. Notice that the Pacific Island nations are not afflicted by this curse.

@David. I would love to see the homicide statistics since independence. Have you ever come across this information.?

Tell ac when her government was in office the Port Authority operated without scanners for years.

@David. That the Port Authority operated for years without scanners is scandalous to put it mildly, and a huge indictment on the part of the former government. That kind of mismanagement is almost criminal if you ask me.

  10. @fortyacresandamule

You might have heard the residents of Regent Hill in the Pine may sue the government through its agent of the Crown NHC for negligence of the maintenance of the well which caused one life. One has to wonder if the lack of working scanners at the Port Authority equates to the same negligence given the threat to society high powered guns are showing to cost. Where is the outrage!

You should really freeze four weeks in winter in Canada or consume the bad food in England. Then at the latest you will appreciate the Caribbean. Barbados is no ordinary island, but the platinum class with fantastic beaches, palm trees, nice locals and a great holiday atmosphere. Where others spend two weeks a year on holiday, we are allowed to pay our taxes. It is a privilege to live in Barbados. You should thank our leader personally for that.

  12. WURA-WAR-on-U Avatar

Oh i have frozen in North America, have always heard of the bad food in UK so i don’t know why i would even attempt to go there to eat bad food, when i can cook my own food ANYWHERE…

Barbados IS NOT THE PROBLEM…the CORRUPT black governments ARE THE PROBLEM…

IT IS NO PRIVILEGE BEING ROBBED BY 2 BACKWARD GOVERNMENTS….who sell out their own people for offshore accounts and mansions and apartment buildings and mercedes and shite trinkets that ya can’t carry anywhere…..ask Donville…am sure he would give it all up just not to be where he is, but you negros have aways been DUMB and will NEVER LEARN…

Motley’s award winning lackey continues to shift goal posts to blame the last government for ills under the current administration.

PM Mottley enunciated her Ministers and her are responsible for what happens under their watch and must be held accountable. This noble policy was laid out in the heady days after election victory just when the guns were beginning to bark.

Mottley could not have foreseen almost a half century of homicides in her first year in office. We don’t need stats to know that is a frightening record that has the country stunned, horrified and scared shitless.

The most killings in a year previously was 35 in 2006. The criminologist brought in to work who quickly left after being robbed at gunpoint said Barbados murder rate was flat for decades. That pattern changed dramatically for the worse from May 2018.

This isn’t political bluff the stats are posted here.

Conflating the diabolical loss of human live in the past year with scanning machines at the port is disingenuous.

Scanning machines are crucial and mandatory but doesn’t explain why the historically low murder toll barely crossed into the thirties only twice prior to 2019.

We admit crime and violence is a deep rooted complex issue that shouldn’t be politicized because any one of us can fall victim.

The landlord and prime yard fowl of the blog is bent on wrapping the maximum leader in a cocoon of innocence. At the same time violently writing a government swept out of office nearly a year and a half is culpable for the anti- social wave ruining our formerly peaceful nation.

Mottley is quoted saying the shooters, thugs and bad boys are running out of reasons to kill and maim given the policies and programs her cabinet put in place for them to change direction.

This pronouncement does not square with reality as the murderous rampage gathers steam with gunmen executing people in broad daylight calmly walking away gun in hand in front of horror struck eyewitnesses.

Government has to go radical to wrestle the murder and gun beast to the ground the policies in place have failed spectacularly. If we continue on our Beirut look a like path much longer even the IMF( Its Motley’s Fault) will pack up and leave taking their upgrades with them.

  15. The people eyes are opened David keeps his closed out of embarrassment after ten years of espousing that Mottley would have make a better PM for barbados
but when all look around and see the daily shedding of blood most knows that Mottley hell bent on becoming PM was all wrapped in charades and silhouettes and David took the bait

@David. I am in agreement with the folks at Regent Hill. They should sue the government. That kind of carelessness should never be tolerated.

    @Caribbeansignal. I see, thanks.

  18. All good citizens must now stand together and fight the opposition that is responsible for this appalling drug war.

The IMF is not the fruit of the new government, but of more than 50 years of ignorance, arrogance and failed education – modelled after Barrow and his party.

Barbados will not become a developed country until we overthrow his idol statue and remove his idol from all banknotes. The people must be freed from Barrow’s plantation, which he euphemistically called the welfare state.

The blue welfare state has only brought Barbados high debts, crime and destruction. It is time for all DLP bureaucrats on Barbados Underground to personally apologize for Barrow’s misdeeds to the people who have suffered for more than 50 years.

  19. WURA-WAR-on-U Avatar

All the shite you talking…both Barrow and Adams were part of the problem, house negros who did not know how NOT TO BE HOUSE NEGROS….

the only people to be rid of is Mia and her CRIMINAL ENTERPRISE of family and friends…to save the majority population …she gotta go…no one labeled for HUMAN TRAFFICKING SHOULD BE PM……no one who SOLD OUT HER OWN PEOPLE REPEATEDLY…because she is a serial law breaker, should be around a black population fraudulently claiming to be leader…

    BLP gotta GO..

    DLP IS ALREADY GONE..

BLP IS AN INTERNATIONAL EMBARRASSMENT…just like DLP.

  20. I guess the evil spirit of Chris de Stinkler has gotten into you.

Tomorrow morning you should scatter ashes on your head, chain yourself to the fence of the parliament and ask the ministers at court for forgiveness. And finally, you should bow to the statue of Grand Admiral Nelson 🙂

  23. Read where Mia made a”promise” to the family to make things right for them
Wonder if govt would be payning for all the funeral arrangements for the family

  24. You all probably need extra strong glasses: the murder rate has definitely fallen and is now much lower than in January or March. I am optimistic that we will soon have zero incidents per month once the drug gangs have destroyed each other.

The figures encourage me and at the same time they reveal how well the government takes care of us.

I thank our security forces for their good work.

  25. Dont u realise that in six months Barbados murder rate has surpassed the total amount of murders in 2018

  27. The dead are caused by DLP’s plague breath. I would even call Barrow personally to account, because he founded this criminal syndicate called DLP. The current government is as innocent as a virgin. If there are any in Barbados.

So yall finally RAPED all the virgins in Barbados and ya having doubts if they are any left….all of you need ERADICATING…brutally.
