I saw a lady from the hikes the other day and asked after her mother who I had met years ago.
I met the lady on the hikes through her sister who had told me her mother was past the 100 the last time I saw her a few years ago.
Sadly, their mother passed recently …. at 104.
I went to a funeral of the mother of another lady I met on the hikes a few weeks ago.
She was 101 when she passed.
I never met her but from what I heard she was strong up to the end.
About the same time as she passed I was invited to a function the 100th birthday of the lady who worked with us for years and who was the best friend of my mother.
Unfortunately she passed a couple of weeks before the celebration but her family continued as if she were there and I was able to witness first hand again the incredible strength and fortitude of those from that magic generation.

You are correct in believing that the social programmes introduced by Errol Barrow had a hand in developing an entitlement mentality rather than an appreciation and determination to give back. If indeed the rich men where humbling themselves before God, the world would not be in the mess it is currently in. A few billionaires could solve a whole lot of problems with His help.
And yes I am humble. I know my God given capabilities but I am also humble enough to know from whence they came. If you read the story, you would see that the magistrate had tough talk but delivered a gentle pat on the back.
I believe that in the O;Rourke case the the tough talking but lenient magistrate was a woman. In the case above, the tough talking and lenient magistrate is also a woman.
Perhaps, it is not about race or tourism but is a matter of class. It is clear that some op the educated class have little or no empathy for their abuse sisters.
