‘Speaking truth to power’ is a phrase that been adopted by the most partisan of us.  They use it to convince the public that they are non-partisan observers who can remain silent no longer.  They claim to be principled individuals who are compelled to speak against the governing administration regardless of the personal consequences.

It appears like a noble quest, but history has shown that it is a common method of deceiving desperate-for-change voters to turn against the party in power.  If their party is successful, then they are always found gorging on the fatted calf prepared exclusively for the most extreme partisan supporters, who would do anything that their party asks of them.

Those who have essentially sold their souls to their party tend to exhibit two traits to prove their devotion.  If they do not do these things, then they tend to lose their places at the table.  First, they must be critical of the other established political party for as long as they occupy their seat.

Second, they are never to criticise their party, regardless of how badly their party performs, unless they are authorised to do so.  Criticism is sometimes allowed if it fits part of the overall public relations strategy on a specific issue.

The last administration attracted severe criticism like a magnet.  While they are not expected to publicly share their post-mortem of the last general election, they seemed to be trying their best to lose it by being as toxic as possible to voters – there does not seem to be any other rational explanation of their baffling behaviour.

Solutions Barbados was specifically formed to restore Barbados’ ruined economy, without austerity, by doing what neither the BLP nor DLP have done.  That is, meaningfully addressing corruption and the mismanagement of public services.  Simply talking about problems does not solve them.

The BLP’s response to Solutions Barbados was to first personally attack my family on their public platform and on their official web-site – dishonouring an excellent tradition that families should never be targeted.  When that failed to work, they declared that Solutions Barbados was funded by the DLP – a lie from satan himself, or someone similar.

By falsely linking Solutions Barbados to the toxic DLP, the BLP deceitfully positioned themselves to benefit from the dissatisfied voters who voted overwhelmingly against the DLP.

The problem for Barbados, is that the BLP has admitted to receiving a ruined economy from the DLP that they were not prepared to manage.  So they quickly gave-up and asked the IMF to manage it for them, through their puppet government, the disorderly BERT – whom no one voted for.  Barbados does not deserve this.

What happened to Barbados?  What happened to all of those: financial analysts, accountants, economists, unions, teachers, public workers, merchants, professional associations, journalists, talk show moderators, columnists, merchants, and editorialists who claimed to have no choice but to speak truth to power?  Where are any of those 20,000 who marched, and where is David Comissiong, who fearlessly and consistently stared down the DLP?  Where is everyone?

They are all telling us that BERT is our saviour and we must bow before it.  They tell us that there were no other solutions – another lie of course.  They tell us that if we do not submit to BERT, then the dollar will devalue.  Were these not the same people who predicted that the dollar will devalue every year under the last administration – and were they not proven wrong?

It seems that we are all alone.  Nevertheless, we shall offer ourselves once more, and Barbados will then get the government that we truly deserve.  Seeing that Barbadian voters seem to be gluttons for punishment, there is a real possibility that after the next general election, our economy will either be back in the hands of the hapless DLP or the confused BERT – same difference.

If that happens, then there will be little chance of escaping the End Game.  Since the writing appears to be already on the proverbial wall, I suggest that you share, print and save each of the next few End Game articles as soon as they are published.  You deserve to know the type of Barbados that the BLP and DLP have prepared for our children over the past two decades.

WHEN IN 1990 I SUGGESTED TO A JACKASS CALLED RONALD KNIGHT (ALSO KNOWN AS GRAVY) MY INFERIOR SUPERIOR, THAT THE POST MEN, WHO IN THOSE DAYS VISITED MOST HOMES DAILY, SHOULD BE TRAINED TO LOOK IN ON THE ELDERLY AND REPORT TO THE NEAREST CLINIC, I WAS LAUGHED TO SCORN!

BUT HE TOOK MY IDEA HIGHER UP THE CHAIN TO BRANFORD TAITT- THE THEN MINISTER OF HEALTH. NOTHING WAS DONE

IT IS WRITTEN …….WHERE THERE IS NO VISION, THE PEOPLE PERISH

  2. Once upon a time in barbados there were places called community neighbourhoods where all interact and behave like family
Now barbados has now become a band of rogues each person looking out for self

  3. They got rid of the alms houses where this woman would have been taken in and cared for. Those alms houses had very good old fashioned nurses who mostly were from the same district.

“Now barbados has now become a band of rogues each person looking out for self”

funny how after over 60 years of the selfish, greedy, self absorbed LEADERS who have always been rogues in empty suits, the people have become just like them..

  5. How de f ck is an elderly lady living in a state of confusion and hopelessness seeks govt help and those in control offers nothing
Then we have a govt breakng peoples back with taxes playing nicely to the IMF whike the eldetly live like stray dogs
Come now we ought to do better
Only last year there were pictures of an elderly lady left in the guardianship of George Payne living in filth all posted on face book and social media for the world to see
Where was the outrage by this govt
    Nothing but dead silence
Those pictures need to be posted again.

  6. I read in today’s “Weekend Nation” that Barbados Port Inc. advertised a “Request For Proposal,” “inviting proposals from firms with proven experience implementation of ISO 9001: 2015 Quality Management System.”

This should make Grenville II happy…….. after all, it was one of his proposals.

  7. ******** implementing the ISO 9001………..

  8. He will be happier if central government implemented.

  9. Notice the indifference to the story by the blp yard fowls of an elderly lady stranded on the rock living in filth and squaller
Notice how the blp yard birds keeping mout closed
Wunda how govt plans on handling issues such as the elderly abandonment
This govt had all the answers before being elected
But now in goverance is dumb deaf and blind
    Give me a fkkng break

I just watched the video you posted, only to realize the lady therein is Hazel, who lives in Princess Royal, Pinelands……. directly opposite York Terrace. She has written signs placed on her unit asking CBC to come and interview her and highlight her story.

This lady has been complaining for years, and it’s a pity the occupants of the attached units do not assist her in any way, because they deem her to be insane. She also has a sister who lives in Princess Royal as well.

The resident DLP yard-fowl is trying to politicize a serious issue. In all fairness, both DLP and BLP candidates/representatives for St. Michael South East MUST SHARE the BLAME…….

………. including, Hammie Lah who served as representative for that constituency under both administrations and, ironically, he was the Minister of Social Transformation, Advisor on Poverty Eradication and the Millennium Development Goals and consultant on poverty alleviation under the former DLP administration.

Hazel REMAINED in this condition during the tenure of the DLP (2008-2018), when the DEMS were spending money in the Pine, “left, right and center,” trying to solicit votes for Patrick Tannis and subsequently, Rodney Grant…… who, as a community activist in the Pine, has to be aware of the lady’s plight.

Former DLP candidate for that constituency, Undene Whittaker, was the Advisor on Poverty Eradication and the Millennium Development Goals also under the former administration.

I can understand the incumbent representative, Santia Bradshaw’s hand may have been tied during the period February 22, 2013 to May 24, 2018…….. but her “party is now in power,” and as the duly elected represented for the constituency, she should have extended assistance to Hazel by now.

  11. Let the blame games begin
We are now at a( present )and the problem still exists after a 8month long period of new govt

  12. GP,
That postman idea was a good one. Who laughed you to scorn? The trick is to make them think that they came up with the idea and let them take the credit.

  13. Please be reminded the blame games began with you.

It is amazing you always seem unable to offer an independent or personal perspective on any discussion in this forum.

You main mission is attempting to politicize every issue into a BLP versus DLP scenario.

    You’re a perfect example of a political yard-fowl.

  14. So did you read your comments earlier before posting
You were the posting pointong past blames while ignoring the present situation and who must take care of the problem at it’s present stage

  15. It’s clear you’re not the brightest bulb in the room.

The problem with you is you read, yet you DO NOT understand WHAT you read.

Is it because you lack basic comprehension skills………. or in your eagerness to spew your usual rhetorical political diatribe and “habitual desperation” to score cheap political points, you purposely overlook what was written?

    I SPECIFICALLY MENTIONED:

“I can understand the incumbent representative, Santina Bradshaw’s hand may have been tied during the period February 22, 2013 to May 24, 2018…………

………….but her “PARTY is NOW in POWER,” and as the DULY ELECTED REPRESENTATIVE for the constituency, she should have EXTENDED ASSISTANCE to Hazel BY NOW”

Now, please indicate to me where in my above comments I IGNORED “the present situation and who must take care of the problem at its present stage?”

But she fi2d not In the eight months
Had not for the report who knows
In any case as you have mentioned this problem is not unknown to the present govt and should have been adressed without embarrassment

  18. Did either of you read the story i posted that gives another perspective?

  19. “: “The situation is one that there is a need for healing between the mother and the son. The relationship is fractured and I could see more hate, than love”.

    Her home.
    Son grown.
    She want him out,’
Just remaining there against her wishes Is some form of elder abuse.
Police need to put him out and let him find his own place.
    Get him out.

  20. Correct. He should leave. But….. if the relationship was dysfunctional from childhood and her favourite is the son that is in jail this son is probably a dysfunctional man himself in some way. I can hear the hurt in his words. I know how he feels. I could bet you a bundle that that is the case. That may very well have hindered him in his development. He probably thinks she owes him for that.

It could be that she is getting what she deserves. Or it could be that she herself was abused, and the other sister was the favourite of their parents. These things often go in cycles..

  21. Barbados is a dysfunctional state
Right hand knows not what the left is doing
    Nobody gives a dam
The lady has been ignored by friends neghbours and govt
Hearing her story is heart wrenching
Only a few weeks ago the Caricom ambassador was begging barbadians to assist Haitians
Now here in barbados a barbadian who has fallen to hard times and elderly abuse for years
Even after years of asking and seeking help was not given any time of day from govt.. friends or anyone
One would think that after seeing and hearing her story just like a loud call was issued to assist the Haitians a similar call would have made to assist the poor old lady who comments were plain and informative
But No just a bunch of cuhdears and finger pointing by govt officials and long talk on social media

We are seeing a manifestation of decades of neglect of the majority black population by both worthless governments…by all the useless leadership on the island, particularly the neglect and abuse of the elderly and the young….a savagery has taken hold, the leaders are unfeeling and savage, they have been for decades, the trickle down effect.

Mia’s government is just as worthless….the savages around her are starting to appear to be the worst yet….and she leads the pack.
