    1) Study Links Cancer to Living Within a Mile of Oil Wells

A new study finds that young people with a rare type of cancer more often live near oil and gas sites than those with other cancers. The study, published today in the journal PLOS One, found that those diagnosed with acute lymphocytic leukemia are 4.3 times more likely to live in the densest area of active oil and gas wells ……

    2) Research shows oil workers at increased risk of skin cancer

    August 15, 2017Agency Report

New research has shown that oil workers, who have had direct contact with crude oil and benzene have a much greater risk of developing skin cancer, public broadcaster NRK reported on Tuesday.

Researchers at the Cancer Registry of Norway have investigated the incidence of skin cancer among 25,000 oil workers employed in the North Sea between 1965 and 1998.

They found that the risk of skin cancer increases with the duration of skin contact with benzene and crude at the work…….

    3) Cancer risks elevated in areas near oil and gas wells, per new study

    NATASHA GEILING

A new study from researchers at the Colorado School of Public Health suggests that living near oil and gas operations could result in exposure to dangerously high levels of carcinogens like benzene, which has been linked to certain kinds of cancers, like leukemia……

    4) The Harms of Fracking’: New Report Details Increased Risks of Asthma, Birth Defects and Cancer

The most authoritative study of its kind reveals how fracking is contaminating the air and water – and imperiling the health of millions of Americans

A review of chemicals released into air and water by fracking has identified 55 that may cause cancer, including 20 that have been shown to increase the risk of leukemia and lymphoma. The Yale Public Health analysis warns that millions of people living within a mile of fracking wells may have been exposed to these chemicals……

Researchers from Oregon State University (OSU) and the University of Cincinnati found that hydraulic fracturing, commonly known as fracking, releases polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), which are linked to cancers and respiratory diseases……..

Diesel exhaust fumes ‘definitely’ cause cancer – should we be worried?

Cancer Research UK, June 14, 2012, Henry Scowcroft .

Exhaust fumes have been conclusively linked to lung cancer.

Today the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) – part of the World Health Organisation – announcedthat it had reclassified diesel exhaust as a ‘definite carcinogen’ – putting it in its highest category (Category 1)…

A study of leukemia risk in relation to gasoline Spill in Pennsylvania, USA, suggested a dose-response re- lationship between atmospheric benzene levels <1p.p.m. and Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML )[38]. Moreover, recent studies have detected genotoxic effects and altered gene expression linked to leukemia among workers exposed to low levels of benzene (i.e. …
