The Editor:

I read the below article in Barbados Today.

I had to laugh at the logic behind Adonijah’s reasoning. After all, he referred to Dr.Baird’s position as one engendered from ignorance. In fact, the appellation can be applied to his position as well.

Attached is an article from the Daily MailDoes marijuana make people violent? Washington state’s murder and assault rate surged 40% after drug was legalized – and experts insist that’s not a coincidence – which he would do well to peruse. I am amazed that persons without adequate scientific training can be so dogmatic in the positions taken when dealing with topics, the pros and cons of which require in depth scientific analysis.

Here is the Barbados Today article:

I agree with your findings. We need to guard against further deterioration.

  2. To the really ignorant,

Depends on your view of “EDUCATION”, doesn’t it? In some cases we were “miseducated”, I contend.

  3. Vincent,

I am certain my inquiring mind preceded my entry into formal education.

  4. Those in favour would use all kinds of examples to legitimize the use of Marijuana
However what they cannot deny is the growing evidence of its consumption and its negative impact on society
There are facts which bear out that marijuana even used for medicinal use for cancer does not heal or stop the progression of cancer
The problem with society that its tendecy to allow the tail to wag the dog

  5. Seems that some people just can’t help themselves. Anyone who disagrees with them is ignorant. Note who threw the first stone.

  10. the bible of my enslavers (Christians or Muslims) could never ever be a spiritual book for me. however that should not preclude descendants of African slaves in believing in a higher being or whatever they want to believe.

  11. James Greene

I am here wondering what would have been your position regarding the Bible … had there not been the enslavement of the African people?

  12. a bible that aided in my ancestors’ enslavement and bondage is not a book for me. can never be. that is quite apart from believing in a just God or Creator if one so wishes to believe.

I have heard and ingested similar Gospel from Thoth, Buddha and Zoroaster who were real (living) Sons of God (Ahura Mazda).

Maybe some day into the future (global warming permitting) your descendants might use mankind’s modern Bible- aka The Internet of the Tree of knowledge of G{o}od and [D]evil- to promote the Gospel according to Charles Darwin.

But as your academic idol J M Keynes dismally assured us: “In the long run, we are all dead”, (one way or the other).

  15. What we have mastered is that having been : raped , robbed, rooted up , stripped of language etc; we have still risen and have mastered adversity ,that this morning some of us can express ourselves in this forum.
Although it may matter little to the more erudite amongst us; we even mastered the game of cricket once the preserve of the same ones who tried to destroy our very being.
So in many ways we have mastered many things .
All we have to now do is realize how great we are and as Marcus Garvey instructed: Rise.
The next step is up to us and that will mean mastering our own resources for the benefit of our peoples.
This is no lofty thesis just plain common sense!

However, they should use it in much the same way that they use prescription drugs i.e. with all the pros and cons that come with the use of such medicines.”

I have a question for you: have you heard of the Holy Spirit? And are cognizant of the fact that if the Holy Spirit does not live in your mortal body that it is virtually impossible to come to a true understanding of who God really is … no matter how many years you sit in a Church pew?

Is this the same “Holy Spirit” which like a space ship paid a visit to Ezekiel like what happened to Rael?

Or is it the immeasurable incomparable Master called Time?

So what happens to the Holy Spirit when one loses the mortal coil?

Does it go into another mortal body of East Indian manufacture by way of the process of reincarnation until your spirit reaches perfection fit for an eternal place in heaven?

You Lexi, might just be that man called Judas in that passion play whom Yahweh deliberately created to betray his only “Begotten” son worn like a jacket by poor Joseph.

  30. Miller

Let us assume that there is no moral dictator who is responsible for the creation of our universe and human life … then my question to you is this: how did the universe came existence without God, and what was there before the Big Bang as well as the chemical explosion which is purported to be responsible for the creation of our universe? And were the Laws of Nature prior to the Big Bang?

  31. Miller

The fact of the matter is science nor religion can tell us conclusively how did the universe came into being ….

Moreover, our basic human knowledge and common-sense ought to tell us that for everything that is created there has to be a creator …so therefore, there is no such thing as an uncaused cause to our human existence…
Because from this perspective our human knowledge has reached an explantory threshold as far as who created, God, the Big Bang, the chemical reaction which caused the Big Bang, the universe and human life etc …

  32. Robert D. Lucas,PH.D began this blog my citing the hilarity he enjoined at the logic behind Peter Alleyne’s reasoning that Lucille Baird’s position on the legalization was engendered from ignorance.

He then mused “ that persons without adequate scientific training can be so dogmatic in the positions taken when dealing with topics, the pros and cons of which require in depth scientific analysis.” To aid or induce a more reasoned approach to the subject he provided a link to an article that addresses the issues fairly comprehensively, if not completely.

I must confess that I have also found the ensuing discussion so called, by the usual BU rum shop brayers, barkers and brimblers equally hilarious, illogical and engendered from ignorance.

No one has addressed the salient points raised by Peter Alleyne, nor does it seem that anyone has read the article he cited, or understood the significance of its contents, because it has not been discussed at all!.

However, the blogs entrenched demon and Bible illiterates spouted off about things they clearly do not understand.

Millertheanunnaki @ January 19, 2019 9:09 AM begins the “Bible lessons” by pointing out that
-“And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, [and] the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed [is] in itself, upon the earth: and it was so…”~ Genesis 1:11

Clearly this text is not relevant here, as this scripture is merely one of the two biological classifications presented in Genesis 1. The botanical classification states that plants are either grasses, herbs or trees that bare fruit. The zoological classification is that animals are either aquatic, arboreal or terrestrial.

Next he cites Numbers 21:9 “And Moses made a serpent of brass, and put it upon a pole, and it came to pass, that if a serpent had bitten any man, when he beheld the serpent of brass, he lived.”

Being seemingly totally ignorant of the significance of this incident as a type of the Lord Jesus himself, as revealed when Jesus referenced this passage in John 3:15 and explained its meaning to Nicodemus.

In the incident recorded in Numbers when the children of Israel had been bitten by poisonous snakes and were instructed to look at a bronze serpent on a pole. God had promised that those who did so would be healed.

The entire experience is a type. It was an actual, historical event that portrayed a New Testament truth. Here is what Jesus said about this incident in John 3:14-16: “And, as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up; That whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have eternal life. For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

At first it might seem strange that of all things, a serpent should be a type of Christ and His saving work on the cross. But it makes sense when we read what Paul wrote in 2 Corinthians. 5:21, , which reads”. For He hath made Him, who knew no sin, to be sin for us, that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him” (2 Corinthians. 5:20-21).

We identify a serpent with sin, and brass or bronze in the Bible speaks of some aspect of God’s judgment. The bronze serpent, therefore, was a fitting portrayal of the Lord Jesus being made sin for us (bearing God’s wrath to pay the price for our iniquity). He made it possible for us to be saved by simple looking to Him in faith. That Old Testament incident was therefore an outstanding type of the redemptive work of Christ.

You are quite aware that the last quoted paragraph was not written for you nor your generation. You may note that it forms part of the 330 supplementary regulations that were designed for the Jewish nation of that millennia.
I believe those are part of the human rules which Isaiah , later Jesus and modern day Jewish scholars spoke about.

FIRST QUESTION. Please tell us where Isaiah or Jesus referred to the regulations cited by Miller occurs in the Bible.

SECOND QUESTION. Since when he made his contribution to the body of what is now known as the New testament, the only Scriptures that Paul had was the Greek translation of the Old testament, what is meant by the word “ALL” in 2 Timothy 3:16-17?
16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.
Does ALL mean ALL…….OR SOME……..OR WHAT BU BIBLE ILLITERATES THINK IS RELEVANT.

What does Paul mean in Romans 15:4 when he says “For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope?

What does Paul mean when he writes in 1 Corinthians 10:6,11

Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted.
Now all these things happened unto them for examples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.

I just asking in my capacity as a lowlife nothingarian under moderation.

We also have the equally ludicrous suggestion
“Why not see marijuana as that tree of knowledge of good and evil?”

So why does the fraternity of Hippocrates (and others involved in the healing of the human body business) of which you call yourself an erudite member use the two intertwined serpents as their logo of faith in their magic and dependability?

Don’t you find it passing strange that the two lovingly intertwined serpents represent a spitting image of the double helix of the DNA the god-secret code of life on evolutionary earth?

And all along you Bible-thumping guys could never unlock such knowledge of good and evil ‘hidden’ right before your very eyes.

BTW, are you implying (or even stating unequivocally) that the Christian image of your sweet white Jesus dying on the cross is really a serpent paying for the sins of dark-skin humans?

Imhotep must be slithering in his constellation of Ophiuchus and asking why have his people of the black Moses become so blindingly myopic as to be not able to see the difference between a healing serpent of wisdom from a dirty morally poisonous snake in the grass.

Dr. GP, doctor in Divinity -and expert in all things contained in the Jewish book of plagiarized myths, legends, tall tales and sometimes downright lies- why don’t you stop beating up and bull(y)ing Bible illiterates like the lightweight lowly miller?

Shouldn’t you be using your Samson-like strength in biblical knowledge to question and contradict what was written by another GP, your political mirror image, called Grenville Philips No. 2?
This what he wrote on his most recent blog aptly titled “Judgement Day”:

“Nevertheless that Lord of Spirits will so press them that they shall hastily go forth from His presence, and their faces shall be filled with shame, and the darkness grow deeper on their faces. And He will deliver them to the angels for punishment, to execute vengeance on them because they have oppressed His children and His elect.” (Enoch 62: 9-11)

Now where in your Jesus Christ bible authorized by that great bulling king of England called James can you point us so we -the bible illiterates and BU blimmers in the rum shop imbibing excessive amounts of ‘spirits’ made from religious ignorance- can find such “Scripture” inspired by Yahweh and his only begotten son of man called Jesus?

NUMBERS SPEAKS OF A BRAZEN SERPENT……NOT JUST A SERPENT
A SERPENT WAS MADE OF COPPER OR BRASS AND PUT INTO A FIRE

IT THEN ACTED AS A PROPHYLACTIC CURE TO ALL WHO HAD FAITH TO LOOK THEREON

IN HIS NOCTURNAL CONFERENCE WITH NICODEMUS JESUS USED THE PICTURE OF THE RAISED UP BRAZEN SERPENT AS A PICTURE OR TYPE OF HIMSELF WHEN HE SAID AS OR IN THE SAME WAY WHEN PERSONS DYING FROM SNAKE BITE IN THE WILDERNESS LOOKED IN FAITH TO THE PROVIDED BRAZEN SERPENT THEY RECOVERED FROM THE VENOM OF THE SNAKE- A PICTURE OF SIN- IN LIKE MANNER PERSONS WHO LOOK TO HIM ON THE BASIS OF HIS WORK ON THE CROSS WOULD RECEIVE A PERMANENT CURE FROM THE EFFECTS OF SIN.

IN JOHN 3 :15 JESUS LOOKED BACKWARD TO THE THE ACCOUNT IN NUMBERS, AND FORWARD TO WHAT HE KNEW WOULD BE TAUGHT IN 2 CORINTHIANS.

MJ like all substances can be abused(abnormal use). There are soo many legal and illegal substances that we human mis use and abuse. I think all here will admit alcohol is a very well known substance that is misused and abused. In response as a society we have “re-habitation; AA the whole gambit of after the fact services and programmes. We as a society also know that MJ can be misused and abused.

If we are going to consider making MJ a legal substance i am sure many here will accept that its rate of misuse and abuse may increase. So as a society are we going to put in place the infrastructure of “rehab” and other after that fact services, etc for the possible increase of persons? Or will we wait until the increase occurs then try to fix it or do sumting about it.

I guess putting your head in the sand is the way we are looking to move; not much different than the previous way we dealt with known knowns and objective reality.

it is recognised or slowly being proven that as a society; we have developing a bad track record when it comes to NCD. From my understanding (Maybe GP can assist me here) NCD are for the most part largely preventable or if not preventable; their onslaught may be delayed to later in a persons life.. So NCD maybe seen as self-inflicted mortal wounds?

Many of us may have seen or witnessed the effect of the NCDs on a person(s) they know. Some may have witnessed the effects of alcohol abuse or misuse on the individual or their immediate family or friends. Some of use have also witnessed the effects of illegals drugs on those same actors etc. So Now let use fully unleash the MJ.

I hope we are more than prepared to buffet and wrestle the effects in ten years after legalisation that the move will have on the same actors; the under resourced and over burdened public health sectors; the productive sectors(hotel. manufacturing etc), the police and prisons, the education (schools,). Finally the possible negative impacts after the negative and positives are weighted of fully unleashing the MJ and possibly other candidates(other substances/drugs) that may be nominated for unleashing..

    Just saying or asking.
