Mia Mottley Prosecutes Government on CORRUPTION in Her Reply to 2015 Budget

Those  Democratic Labour Party (DLP) members in parliament advocated the need for Barbados to enact Integrity and Freedom of Information legislation prior to being elected in 2008. There was an expectation Barbadians would have seen movement on this issue within 100 days of the DLP government […] taking office. It is an indictment on civil society we have not been able to pressure government to treat this issue as a priority.  In fact, the DLP was re-elected in 2013 and transparency legislation did not feature as a key platform issue.

It is ironic Mia Mottley’s contribution in the 2015 Budget Debate  has positioned the issue of graft and corruption in government squarely in the public’s domain. If we are to evaluate the fervour which some members of parliament on Mottley’s side supported her on the issue there is a lot to be said about the political class closing ranks.

Here is the Leader of the Opposition Mia Mottley’s reply to the 2015 Budget (first hour clipped).

  1. Six one half dozen of the other
    Doesnt make a difference
It is money GONE out the door to suffice a few sitting on the top ledge
While the bottom ledge has to pull the wagon
Only an early morning blp yardfowl would nit pick the difference at a time when barbados economic basket is short of revenue
The fact still remains and underscores a govt willing to give in rather than follow the wall and do what is right in the best interest of the country
But what de hell the money given doesnt have to come out of Cabinet ministers pocket
In the meanwhile all the ministers and advisors get their pay check on time while retrenched workers and local investors are told to wait

You come on BU talking shite about calling names.

Does it make a difference where the MAJOR criminals, police, JUDICIARY and Politicians all work on the same team.

LORD EVIL WAS A MAJOR FINANCIAL CONTRIBUTOR TO BLP ELECTION CAMPAIGN AND GOT MAJOR VOTES FOR THE BLP IN ST LUCY.

HE WAS ALSO ONE OF THE 5 MAJOR DRUG LORDS INVITED TO PARLIAMENT WHEN BLP TOOK OVER IN 2018.

    St Lucy ban on accused

Andre Lord Evil Jackman is a free man once again, two months after he was remanded on four serious charges, one of them gun-related.

However, Barbados TODAY understands that as one of the conditions attached to his bail he won’t be allowed to reside in St Lucy.

That was one of the conditions to which the 39-year-old of Stroud Bay, Crab Hill, St Lucy, will have to adhere after he was granted bail in the sum of $150,000 by Justice Randall Worrell when he appeared in the Supreme Court on December 14, 2018.

Jackman, also popularly known as Punchies, was represented by attorney-at-law Angela Mitchell Gittens and was released last week after his bail was finally posted.

He had been remanded to HMP Dodds on October 5, 2018, by Magistrate Wanda Blair after appearing in the Holetown Magistrates’ Court on four charges.

Jackman is charged with using a firearm without a valid licence; two counts of endangering life; inciting Shane Babb to engage in conduct that endangered life, as well as inciting Tyrone Moore to engage in conduct that endangered life on September 30, 2018.

Last April, Jackman had a murder charge against him dismissed.

He had been charged along with Zaviere Renaldo Walkes of Archer’s Road, Crab Hill and Rory St Clair Thomas of Grape Hall and Shane Akeem Omar Babb of Fryer’s Well, with the April 26, 2014 murder of Charly Dume.

However, Principal Crown Counsel Alliston Seale acting on the instructions of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) said there was insufficient evidence to go forward with the case against the men.

Lord Evil aka ‘Punchies’ canvassed for Peter Phillips the BLP rep for St Lucy on 2018 elections day.

What a web we weave when we practice to deceive.

  5. All the Haitians that were welcomed to visit Barbados by Commissiong should be rounded up transported and place at the doorsteps of Commisiong home
With all the social and economic problems this country( having) only a jack.a.ss would open its borders willy nilly to invite foreign invaders
Commissiong you are truly one Class A grade jac. ass

  6. This criminal wave will nit get better
The biggest fear thst barbados will come against is having a justice system and a police force which is ill equipped to fight gang warfare
Gangs are territorial and fearless in their efforts for revenge
This criminal wave will not stop but will continue with a mentality that revenge is the best form of justice

  7. So past govt tried implementing an immigration policy for tougher measures by finger printing
The likes of Commisiong and others hollered and screamed illegal
    Courts agreed
But no one had / has ever suggested or brought to table by past opposition(blp) a better alternative
Things continue to be the same under present govt who has demonstrated a form of clueless on immigration issues by furthering opening our borders to foreign invaders looking for work

  8. One would think that with the onslaught 9if criminal activity in a three day period
The media would react like flies on rice seeking answers has to what policies govt has planned to tackle the crime and if any plans for protecting our borders
The crime situation requires immediate attention as one can clearly see that a flow of guns are making way into barbados undetected

    @ Mariposa

Many Police are also involved in the gun and drug trafficking as it is easy money.

    Barbados is a failed island.

  10. BUW if what you say is the case
Then barbados is heading down a very dangerous path similar to Jamaica where its social enviroment is in total decsy

  11. Barbados is at a time of crisis where voices called to lead are silenced out of fear
Even BU seems to have turned a blind eye after three days of a catastrophic crime wave

  12. Well finally a minister came forward with no.plan on hand to tackle crime except long drawn rhetoric political speak on the effects of crime on barbados economy.
A govt with plenty adviors this is the best govt could do (today) to calm the fears of the public

  13. Yusuf Collector, he’s a government worker and artist who has been stealing money for months , classic example .

  14. “BUW if what you say is the case
Then barbados is heading down a very dangerous path similar to Jamaica where its social enviroment is in total decsy”

    @ Mariposa

You believe Barbados was heading down a very dangerous path since May 25, 2018?

The actions of Donville Inniss, Michael Carrington, Hal Gollop, Richard Byer and the short me crutch lawyer say otherwise.

  15. “Many Police are also involved in the gun and drug trafficking as it is easy money.”

This means every island, country, continent, state etc are failed as well.

    @ Robert Goren

    I agree with BUW.

The BU blog is about the island of Barbados which is in the jaws of the IMF because of widespread corruption including Judiciary, Police, Customs, Immigrations, Politicians etc.

No wonder the island is broke because everyone is stealing and pointing fingers.

Borrowing from IMF, CDB and other Institutions is kicking the can down the road, and plain arrogance and stupidity that the island is punching above its weight.

Unless one is referring to DEAD WEIGHT.

  17. @ Mariposa,

Finally what we all suspected is being made public – the split in the Mottley-led BLP candidate. If Hinkson has any self-respect he will immediately resign from the Cabinet, while remaining a member of the BLP and parliament. Failure to do this will leave himself wide opened to the kind of humiliation that Dr DeLisle Worrell suffered under the brutal ministerial oversight of Chris Sinckler.
I have said on BU on numerous occasions that whatever objections I had to Dr Worrell’s economic orthodoxy, he should never have allowed Sinckler to humiliate him in the way he did.
So too many of the young professionals in Mottley’s Cabinet. No matter how much they may enjoy the status and influence of being a minister, there comes a point when enough is enough and Mottley must be told no thanks..

  18. Revenge is a SOB . Mottley is shiftless she is no friend of anyone
Hinckson during the heated discussion of making Mottley Leader of the blp pulled out all the punches and did not stop in revealing how he felt about Mia in disparaging terms
This escalation of crime was a great opportunity for Mia to break his political legs .
