In this time of austerity, it is important to be reminded of Jesus’ encouragement to hope for the best, but prepare for the worst.  Jesus taught this through his story about a planned wedding.  Ten virgins were supposed to walk with their oil-lamps burning during the ceremony.

Five of the virgins assumed that the bridal plans would run as scheduled, and only carried enough oil in their lamps that would last for the duration of their assignment.  The other five hoped that everything would run as scheduled, but took additional oil just in case the plans failed.

We are living under the Government’s BERT plan.  It was promoted as 18 months of severe austerity, and we have one year left.  We were told to bear the suffering for the remaining 12 months and then all will be well.  Given the general agreement that the BERT plan has been implemented with a high level of incompetence, we would be wise to plan for the worst regardless of our expectations.

After the initial set of layoffs during BERT’s first phase, Solutions Barbados offered free public workshops in starting and growing a successful business with no start-up money.  We will hold additional free training workshops after the next set of mass layoffs during BERT’s second phase.  As repeatedly explained during the training, you need to help your future self.

In 5 years, you can be trained to become anything you wish, and 5 years goes by very quickly.  Therefore, you are well-advised to start your training now.  This Christmas is an opportunity for spending on others.  Please do not squander this opportunity.

Purchase gifts to help others to start or grow their business.  If someone is a mason, then purchase a laser level to help increase productivity.  Give gifts like additional memory for digital equipment, higher capacity tools, printer cartridges or fuel gift cards.  Love your neighbours in this manner this Christmas.

Please resist the temptation to be foolish this Christmas.   Jesus gave a ratio of 5 wise to 5 foolish.  Given the pattern of shopping observed this Christmas, that ratio may hold true for us in Barbados.  Why would anyone purchase a limited-use toy or ornament or drapes in a time of severe austerity?  Why not purchase some tools for yourself and make a better toy, or a sewing machine and make better drapes?

How will an expensive necklace, bracelet, watch or pendant help someone to become more productive?  We all need to wise up.  Of course, all husbands are exempt from this criticism – their productivity depends on them spending foolishly.  On behalf of the 17 candidates of Solutions Barbados, Merry Christmas.

RE Phillips’ quote: “In this time of austerity, it is important to be reminded of Jesus’ encouragement to hope for the best, but prepare for the worst. BUT YOUR APHASIA GET YOU TO READ INTO HIS WORDS THIS
And what did the author want to ILLUSTRATE when he used this parable as his teaching moment…well if you haven’t figured it out yet…. that : those who plan poorly will suffer LOSS in longterm despite best hopes. What a thing!

HE DID NOT SAY Those who plan poorly will suffer LOSS in longterm despite best hopes.

AND JESUS DID NOT ANYWHERE SAY OR IMPLY THAT THE FOUR BROTHERS ON OLIVET’S SLOPES SHOULD “hope for the best, but prepare for the worst”. NOR DID HE SAY OR IMPLY THAT Those who plan poorly will suffer LOSS in longterm despite best hopes.
JESUS TAUGHT TO WAIT AND WATCH FOR HIS COMING AND HE GAVE ILLUSTRATIONS ON THIS IN MATTHEW 25

TO PONTIFICATE ON ANY OF THE PARTS YOU MUST GRASP AND UNDERSTAND THE WHOLE

READ THE PASSAGE IN MATTHEW AGAIN AND YOU WILL SEE THAT TO SAY THAT
Jesus taught this through his story about a planned wedding. IS RUBBISH

THIS CAN NOT BE DEDUCED INDUCED OR EXEGETED FROM THE TEXT
AND THE WEDDING HAD BEEN LONGED PLANNED AND WAS ACTUALLY ALMOST OVER—-THE WHOLE YEAR FROM BETROTHAL TO IMPLEMENTATION WAS ALMOST OVER!

BUT YOU WOULD NOT HAVE LEARNED THIS AT JAMES STREET METHODIST CHURCH

NOR WOULD JOHN OR CHARLES WESLEY TEACH SUCH RUBBISH

AND YOU CANT TEACH ME ENGLISH OR HOW TO UNDERSTAND THE SPOKEN OR WRITTEN WORD OR THE WORD OF GOD

ONLY ON BU HAVE I ENCOUNTERED SUCH STUPIDITY ABOUT THE WORD OF GOD ANYWHERE I HAVE BEEN IN 50 YEARS

  3. Supporters offer to donate organs to Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg
December 24, 2018 by Jerry McCormick

News of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg having yet another battle with cancer is causing panic among liberals.

Things have gotten so crazy, in fact, that liberals are offering up their own body parts to ensure she stays on the bench.

Recently, Justice Ginsburg made a statement that her health was just about 100 percent.

That was not exactly true, though.Ginsburg has been recovering from a nasty fall for more than a month.

The 85-year-old justice broke three ribs after a fall in her office last month.During her treatment for the rib injury, doctors discovered Ginsburg once again had cancer. They had found two cancerous growths in her lungs. Last week, doctors operated to remove the growths and proclaimed her cancer-free once again.

Considering that Ginsburg had never mentioned the cancerous growths prior to the operation, people were very shocked to hear that she had gone under the knife.Reaction on the left was pure panic.

Hundreds, if not thousands, of her supporters even offered to give up their body parts to ensure Trump did not get to name her successor. There was also some reaction from the right, which did not go over very well with liberals.

Former Fox News host Bill O’Reilly was one of the first to break the news, sending out a tweet reporting that Justice Ginsburg was very sick and that liberals were (predictably) losing their minds over her possibly leaving the bench.O’Reilly was immediately called every name in the book by liberals, who took his tweet as a morbid attempt at humor.

It just goes to show the double standard in today’s political world.Liberals threaten and attack conservatives every day, and it causes zero outrage. But when O’Reilly reports the news and offers an observation about the liberal reaction, he is made out to be the grim reaper.Unfortunately, this is the world we live in today.

GUESS WHAT? I THINK THAT SHE IS GOING TO LIVE FOR EVER!

  12. FEDERAL JUDGE SLAMS MUELLER’S LAWYER FOR DOWNPLAYING HIS OVERSTEP OF AUTHORITY
    Steven Ahle DECEMBER 24, 2018

Mueller’s attorneys went to federal court to explain how they have not overstepped their authority with their witch hunt, but the judge wasn’t buying it and told them that their case against Manafort was overreaching since it occurred 10 years before the Trump campaign and hr accused them of unlawful tactics in order to go after the president.

Federal Judge T.S. Ellis order Mueller to produce the original source document unredacted so that he can decide if there is an overreach and if it was by Mueller or by Rosenstein. Either way, it could close the investigation.

Mueller’s attorney Dreeben tried to explain why the 10-year-old case against Manafort was relevant but the judge shot him down and reminded him that the charges against Manafort have nothing to do with Russian collusion.

Mueller has two weeks in order to produce the source document or he will lose the case. This should prove to be interesting

    From CNN

“You don’t really care about Mr. Manafort’s bank fraud,” Ellis said to prosecutor Michael Dreeben, at times losing his temper. Ellis said prosecutors were interested in Manafort because of his potential to provide material that would lead to Trump’s “prosecution or impeachment,” Ellis said.

“That’s what you’re really interested in,” said Ellis, who was appointed by President Ronald Reagan.

Ellis repeated his suspicion several times in the hour-long court hearing. He said he’ll make a decision at a later date about whether Manafort’s case can go forward.

“We don’t want anyone in this country with unfettered power. It’s unlikely you’re going to persuade me the special prosecutor has power to do anything he or she wants,” Ellis told Dreeben. “The American people feel pretty strongly that no one has unfettered power.”

When Dreeben answered Ellis’ question about how the investigation and its charges date back to before the Trump campaign formed, the judge shot back, “None of that information has to do with information related to Russian government coordination and the campaign of Donald Trump.”

@John are you testing this Chirstmas day? What FACTS did u assemble?

Let me state the Blogmaster question AGAIN…“Can you answer the question?”

WHICH WAS…why haven’t the Republicans REPLACED the ACA with the better and easy to do plan PROMISED by POTUS…

Stating that the courts have affirmed it’s ‘death’ is awesome …but we know that.

So as he noted THINK carefully and ANSWER the query 😂.

    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

    Can’t you read simple English?

    The question asked was

“Why has a Republican controlled House and Senate in the last term unable to repeal and replace?”

My answer was simply the Republican controlled congress and senate have passed legislation which in addition to triggering growth in the economy has rendered Obamacare, aka Roberts care aka the ACA unconstitutional.

This happened on December 14, a few days ago.

What is it about unconstitutional don’t you understand?

It took me all of 4 minutes to answer the question … it required minimal thought!!

…. and here is another point which required minimal thought!!

In the absence of a constitutional replacement for Obamacare, aka Roberts care aka the ACA it will be for the Democrat controlled Congress to find a replacement … and if possible, get it past the Republican controlled Senate ….

…..AND then President Donald Trump, POTUS!!

The ball is now in the Democrats’ court!!

.. but they in their infinite wisdom have shut down the Government and nuffin can’t do.

Trump must be cracking up laughing at their predicament!!!

    Ehhh…

After the POTUS said it was easy to have a health plan in place and after the Blogmaster asked about repeal and REPLACE by Republicans you again assert that they have repealed but it’s now Democrats that have to replace.

And then u also assert that despite the clear boast by Trump that he will shut down the govt that it’s the fault of the Dems.

This is perfectly logical in the madding world you inhabit…amazing….up is down and down is up!

I am bested by your supreme scholarly exposition senor.

  16. After the POTUS said it was easy to have a health plan in place and after the Blogmaster asked about repeal and REPLACE by Republicans you again assert that they have repealed but it’s now Democrats that have to replace.

    ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

What the Democrats need to do is to adopt the Republican plan that passed the House but was defeated in the senate by John McCain.

Getting it past the House should be easy as the Republicans will support it and in any case the Democrats hold the majority.

Once past the House the senate will be a cake walk as will Trump.

It will be a truly bipartisan bill!!

It is actually very easy, as POTUS said it would be!!

Of course, the Democrats would have to give Trump his wall so the Government shutdown caused by them will end!!

  17. @John

Did any other Republican Senators vote against the ACA besides McClain?

  18. GOP had 52 seats of which one, Mike Pence had the casting vote.

A minimum of 50 members needed to vote for it of which Pence had to be one.

That means there had to be atleast one other senator who went against it.

McCain held the blame because of the personal grudge he held against Trump going so far as to ban him from his funeral!!

The other senator or senators is or are lost in the mess.

You can do the math too … or google it.

  19. I can’t imagine banning even my worst enemy from my funeral, as if I could do anything about it when I am 6 feet down!!

I had an uncle who had a private funeral …. executors never announced it!!

    Weird peoples do exist.

  20. Seems so idiotic!!

  21. McCain obviously wanted the big funeral so executors could not keep it quiet and announce it as a private ceremony.

Bush had a big funeral as befitting his position … and then a private family do.

McCain seems so petty, even in death.

  22. @John,

Bush had a state funeral, McCain did not. Trump is a savage, semi-educated Scot-German racist thug. McCain was a decent man.

  23. John

My wish is that you endeavour a little more harder to be forthright in your aggrandizement of the Republican agenda, because your predilection for the right of the political spectrum is egregious, despicable and utterly atrocious …

  24. Hal its semi educated scots that invented anything worth inventing in this world, we have had this discussion before. McCain was a man just a man trying to take a swipe at trump in death for the battering he took on the campaign trail. We all know the game if trump would have picked him as his running mate he would have been asked to be a pall bearer.

  25. @Lawson,

I do not think McCain was an angel, but Trump is out of this world. Even the KKK think he is too extreme. Hitler would have run away from him.

If you read your history you would understand Hitler and the KKK were products of the left.

The race laws of the Nazis were based on the laws of the Democrat, Jim Crow South.

There is no way Hitler or the KKK would associate with Trump.

Obama and Hilary for sure, after all the KKK was the military arm of the Democrats!!

@Hal, when you say that even the KKK think the current Pres is extreme to what exactly are you referring?

And to @John, it takes a special type of reasoning to accuse a man of being “petty” because he felt so aggrieved about campaign rhetoric that he requested an individual – who happened to be the US President – not to attend his funeral.

Your reasoning is obzocky and patently biased.

** I concur with the statement that John McCain was no angel…he was a forceful political competitor who also used bombastic rhetoric and sharp elbows many times…he had a turbulent temper it is reported … and of course he’s the same guy who they say ‘dumped’ his long suffering wife when he returned from POW incarceration to marry a beauty queen type heiress and set the stage for his political ambitions….BUT despite that and more the man always conducted himself decourously as a POLITICIAN …in that arena he was indeed decent.

So let’s not troll his personal peccadillos …it’s his public military and political life that’s relevant.

**POTUS was wayyyy out of bounds to decry McCain’s military capture… that, is what was PETTY, petulant, disgustingly ignorant and unbecoming of a political competitor.

For you or anyone to do your normal ‘up is down, down is up’ folly to defend any person stupid enough to decry a man who suffered years of torture, deprivation and unimaginable mental stress in a squalid enemy camp prison with asine puerile nonsense is greivous, disgusting hypocrisy….

** In my view, if John McCain had NOT finalized his funeral by asking the POTUS (nicely) not to attend after he had so thrashed basically his (McCain) entire life with that remark that ‘real heros aren’t captured’ then that would have been unacceptable.

That bold request was in keeping with the way the man LIVED his life…forthright and clear of intent…when you are tortured close to death in camps from hell you damn well deserve the right to dismiss PETTY, bone spurred challenged politicians who were sitting somewhere in a country club camp being so heroically comfortable.

    Steeeupse!

  31. John, just listen to the idiocy of your boy Trump: ” I know more about Isis than the military generals.”
I am quite sure he does; the KGB informs him…!

You just have to take everything this man says with a grain of salt because he has proven himself to be the laughing stock of the world, and for good reason … because he does not possess the intellectual resources that would enable him to say something constructive.

@Lawson, and what about it exactly?

He was embroiled in an unseemly political money dirty business mess…a massive one if not the most massive of his career…ok…it was stated he was no angel and quite the sharp -elbowed political competitor, not so!

What does that have to do with his life as a young man and his arrogant (son of an admiral and risk taking fighter pilot – so they said ) bravado fighting for his country and then being tortured by an enemy and then having a JA pooh-pooh that period of his life so ridiculously (similar periods which have BROKEN many a man, mind you).

    Please clarify for me…SMH!
