The GP/Solutions’ brand is not attractive to the Barbadian electorate as currently constituted. I agree with Enuff that this newspaper is nothing more than a newsletter or a news pamphlet……containing the same tired solutions that were overwhelmingly rejected by the electorate.
The issue of his alternative economic solutions immediately comes to mind.
Phillips II is insistent these policies were available over the past three years……to the public, BES, ICAB and other special interest groups for “rigorous scrutiny.”
However, over the duration of this period he can present only ONE “fellow” of ICAB as having said these policies are workable……..
…………but GP2 has either been UNABLE, UNWILLING or “blatantly” REFUSED to present the “fellow’s” analysis for rigorous scrutiny also.
And it is upon this basis GP2 wants to convince the electorate his policies are the best alternative? This is not only ridiculous, but ludicrous as well.
What GP2 should have done was to appoint a “shadow cabinet” to “shadow” each ministry….where each “shadow minister” would comment on issues, policies etc arising from their “ministry”……….
…………and where necessary….. present DETAILED alternative solutions.

Remember, members of Grenville’s team were not satisfied with his leadership style and resigned from the party as a result.
The remaining members may be a bit more timid and may not want to “upset the status quo.”
This is the worst decision for any green horn to start up a print version of a newspaper in this era. First of all, you have to either do your own printing or source one of the established printers or newspapers to do your printing. Regardless what you plan…..that cost money. Are you going to use 11 x 17 folded to 8 1/2 x 11. What is your advertising cost? How many papers you are expecting to print? How many papers at $1.00 will you be able to sell? Have you make provisions for payment of even one staff? Have you considered the percentage you will have to pay to vendors? Have you realised that the two established newspapers are having serious dips in circulation and now getting in to online printing.
Advertising lineage gives you the ability to pay your creditor. What will be your cost for a whole page advertisement since no advertiser will purchase any ad in your newspaper/newsletter the same way as a magazine ad I agree with “45govt” that you will not get pass two editions before coming to an abrupt financial halt. Take David’s advice, go the online route. Your solution is the Solution for disaster.

If you go the Face Book route you are somewhat tried to a platform that you have absolutely no control over. Tomorrow if the powers that be(local or otherwise) either well intentioned or other wise see it fit to “censor or disrupt BU” what can David do but bow his head and admit defeat. BU has no real control of the distribution of its media/content/opinions.

Barbados can barely support two printed dailies. I buy both because one has excellent columnists ,editorial pages and international news; the other is more up to date with local news,even though a bit sensational.

For the Blogmaster and astute thinkers like @BernardC I wonder what are the reactions to the news out of Turkey with a run on their currency as citizens lose confidence in the economic actions…and then more so the absolutely economic warfare further attack on the Turkish economy by the POTUS with additional tariffs on one of Turkey’s key exports.
This is a serious matter on the country to country level and definitely far more serious that the Canada vrs Saudi Arabia fracas.
It’s surely an indicator of the economic power that can be waged from Washington or indeed Riyadh …the latter will be a hiccup for Canada but the other could have major repercussions for the Kurds, NATO-Turkey-Russia relations, Europe and by dangerous extension, mid term the world.
Oneupmanship and impulsive behavior is a dangerous thing at the geopolitical level. Very dangerous!

I took your suggestion and carefully grew a Facebook following from under 100 to currently 951 carefully screened persons, most of whom are living in Barbados. The screening was to restrict ‘Bots’.
If those posting here would read the Fake News article, then they would understand why having our own print version (which can be run profitably) is necessary. The ads more than pay for the printing costs, and limiting our distribution to service stations is very efficient for us.
As previously noted, the media gravely underestimated our resolve. Now the classified pie will be cut even smaller. That is good for us since we started out with no slices. However, it is bad for them because they chose the path of the yardfowl.
Hal Austin would no doubt harp back upon those golden days when Barbados had an array of ‘journalists’ at the Observer,the Beacon,the Torch,the Advocate,the Daily News,Truth and the Democrat.The golden days of information when schoolboys as part of their curriculum read and discussed in class the editorial content of some of these newspapers,the best of which in my opinion,was Jimmy Cozier’s.
Thanks Grenville, no one here can accuse of not being able to read the numbers. Now is the time to push hard, there is a vacuum and the blogmaster has some doubt whether the DLP will be able to make credible noise any time soon. Formulate policies that will resonate easily with a couple of segments in the demographic to make your base then build and build. Others on the team need to step up.

The problem that IT specialists have is that it is very hard to tell you guys stupidness and you swallow it lock stock and barrel.

Grenville, the Advocate, Nation and electronic media have stayed away from the substance of the Cable & Wireless matter – perhaps The Solution could fully look into Cable & Wireless’ actions to take full control of the Barbados operation.
Please note that many Facebook accounts appear to be fake. Identifying the fake ones is very easy. We are not vetting persons to see whether they agree with us. Instead, the accounts are vetted to see if they are real person accounts. How can Piece have misread that?
We have not been maintaining the site properly. That is a fair and accurate observation. We will assign someone to that task.
Apparently everybody has a blind spot depending on the matter at hand. In Barbados, the solution depends on the situation. All in all it’s just another …
