Merit Based Immigration & Citizenship by Investment

Institute merit based immigration whether you are poor or rich. A man might be poor but, may have a Skill (Carpentry). But also have Citizenship by Investment say over EG: $3 Million US$. (I have seen Ads from America that investments of US$500,000. will get you a green card that could lead to citizenship). Other Caribbean countries have gone this route Grenada, St Kitts & Nevis, Dominica, Antigua & Barbuda, and St Lucia offer Citizenship by Investment but they have competed at the low end and the investment for citizenship is low, we can take another tack by going higher.

This will spur investments in Barbados by high worth individuals and once they are here they will like what they see (what is there not to love, we see this by returning individuals all the time except they do not bring the big bucks.)

Barbados’ Structural Adjustments might be workable but too painful and I would like to make a Suggestion that Barbadian Citizenship should be granted by Investment of a Deposit not less than 3 million US Dollars (choose a number) in the Local Banking System to be used for Investment, Spending, Starting Businesses and setting up Holding Companies.  Just Attracting 100 of these High-Worth Individuals who may desire to have an additional Citizenship of another Country (Barbados) will net the foreign exchange position by 300 Million US Dollars. And that is only for a hundred people. If we can encourage these Wealthy Individuals to seek greater Participation in the Local Economy through the formation of partnerships with local Entrepreneurs bringing with them their skills in Finance, Big Management Know How that will raise the local Companies reach globally. Imagine if you opened up the Citizenship to a 1000 of these Rich Individuals that would give you an in-flow of 3 Billion US Dollars that could more than pay off the Barbados Debt with no IMF in Sight.

Because of Overstock.com investment in Bitt, Bitt’s technology has the Potential of very soon reaching the financial sector regionally & globally. Barbados has a lot of Information Technology Talent, these people just need funding, reach and guidance which is what these high worth individuals can Contribute.

The Rabble Rouser who will say you can’t sell Citizenship want to only give it away for Free as is presently done. For example the Problem with giving so many Guyanese people Citizenship is that money is sent back to Guyana and it can only go as foreign exchange. Just the same way that Bajan Yankees send money to Barbados, Guyanese sends money to Guyana. Which would you prefer, Save Barbados with the In-flow of 3 Billion US Dollars or ship foreign exchange out of the Country? Where there is a Will there is a Way.

We are not talking about investors like the Sandals Group who extracted Duty Free and Tax Concessions from Government and then turned around and import everything down to a Napkin Duty Free. We need them to invest more and bring their expertise and BIG finance, partnering will local entrepreneurs for further growth in the island and globally. Do not mind the people who say you can’t sell citizenship but want you to give it away for free, how foolish, imprudent, irresponsible, unwise, and reckless. It is better to choose who comes here and what they are bringing with them; Character, Money, Talents, Knowhow & avenues of Finance.

The PM should call to meet with some rich influential people in Barbados as they all love Barbados and might be amenable to helping, using a one on one to request their assistance in each one finding 10 persons and invite those 10 people to invest in Barbados gain their citizenship and since most of their wealth and business is outside of Barbados create a new offshore category for these types of individuals with regard to income taxes and other incentives.

See list of persons in the video of the riches people in Barbados.

Joseph Saddler, Rihanna, Kyffin Simpson, Murial Dean, Sir Charles Williams, Michael Barry Tabor, Derrick Smith, Dermont Desmond, JP McManus, Eugene Melnyk. These rich people can be asked for advice the same way you meet with the Social Partners, their ideas would be worth a great deal as in their realm of business dealings is unlike what we may have in the Social Partners.

We may have to consider offering some type of incentive other than citizenship alone such as off shore companies operating in Barbados that only generate US$ and employing Barbadians pay their employees in US$ and they the employees pay a lower rate of income tax (Offshore Companies rate) or no tax on their income (as in the large international accounting firms) also they may deposit their remuneration into their own US$ account. You will still get taxes from them; Vat and all purchases locally that have elements of tax in them EG: electricity. Find out what has driven Kiffen Simpson companies out of Barbados to other localities and fix that and use that as a type of model and add to it to revamp Barbados tax structure of how we do business. Stop the loss of the offshore sector using benefits, Let them pay their top executives in US dollars, they hire high paying employees a boon for all our UWI grads  and rent houses from locals and maybe use the Citizenship by investment to drive the conversation to bring an influx of new business and new investments.

We already give anybody temporary “citizenship” when we let them stay on holiday except now let’s expand this to citizenship by investments with benefits. A poor man does not hire people only people with money do. A poor man cannot start a big business only a man of means can. Attracting high worth individuals should be a priority use the citizenship by investments with benefits; task someone who knows how to recruit high worth individuals and as an example have this person talk to Gabriel Abed of BITT he meets people from around the world pushing his company, Billionaires, people of worth like Branson of Virgin Atlantic Fame. This personal and selective push will net the best result.

The worst thing to do would be to bring or invite low skill or no skill people like Haitian whose culture is foreign to Barbados as seen in the looting during the hurricane in Florida and constant riots in their home country as have been done by our PM at the heads of CARICOM meeting I am sure with the encouragement of Commie Sing Song.

Please tell me why this Very Important Decision that would Impact the Lives of Bajan’s I.E Opening our Borders to Haitians who would be fleeing poverty, (over 700,000 in the USA and another 800,000 to the Dominican Republic and other hundreds of thousands to the Americas who have already fled) should not the People of Barbados been Informed first before the announcement was made @ CARICOM by the PM…

We the people have given the PM a full house we do not expect to be the dumping ground for Haiti or for her to do the bidding of Commie Sing Song who was not elected. Commie Sing Song is misguided; the heart cannot rule it has no direction the head must rule. But what is life without the heart. The two must work together but remember the head must rule as you will be without a rudder. This careless decision can only throw Barbados into Turmoil the Likes that have never been seen before…They have put others “First” before their Own Country…Sounds All Too Familiar!!

Imaging what the impact a few hundred Haitians rioting for better living conditions in Barbados will have on our Tourism industry? Barbados is known for its calm and stable country do we want to turn it into the “safety” of Trinidad or Jamaica?

We can all make a difference in making Barbados Great, starting with the importance of Individual Responsibility and using our God Given Talents and Abilities to Improve Our Lot!

Economic Entrepreneurs are a Boon to Society; Political Entrepreneurs are Another Animal Entirely!

I shared the Idea Previously about the SEED BOMBS to Help with the Reforestation of Haiti. What other Ideas do you have to Contribute to Help the Haitians Help Themselves? May Freedom Crier Suggest that BU welcomes other Articles that will Improve and Benefit Barbados under the Banner of “The Building of our Nation”.

lets begin with exactly what KS businesses have left and to where? He isn’t public, has business in many, many locations, and in many different niches.
On the public side, we have GEL closing/merging/selling operations in Barbados, while pursuing new investments in Canada, USA, Guyana, Latin America and Ecuador/T&T.

  2. That is what happens when they jump on the blogs pretending to be well informed and are just continuing the same destructive behaviors that got the island in it’s current mess to begin with, while showing everyone how ignorant they are..

…if the Mia government wants another 5 year term OR EVEN TO BE SEEN AS A SUCCESSFUL ONE TERM GOVERNMENT, they would be better off just opening the necessary doors for the majority population that have been maliciously closed to them by both governments for 52 years to facilitate the former planter class of greedy minorities…and let the PEOPLE, THE MAJORITY POPULATION handle their own progress, wealth generation and development..

Stop taking bad advice from greedy, dumb people.

  3. Oh yeah…and open the Caribbean borders over the next 5 years to even greater freedom of movement for wealth creation, progress and development in the local majority populations..

  4. Much of the CBI in the Caribbean is because of our proximity and relationship to the USA.

  5. Did Mia put Dale Marshall in a position to press corruption charges
Doesnt she know that corruption alledge allegations against George Payne and Dale Marshall are being spread like wild fire on social media against them
    What is Mia thinking?

  6. What the jokers proposing this clear criminal generating enterprise and scam are pretending not to know is that the more the free movement of the majority population on the island(s) is curtailed, because of bad decision making by their black governments, the more the people can be exploited and oppressed while being corralled and stagnated to one small island(s)..generation after generation.

….freedom of movement throughout the Caribbean is the only way to go to fight oppression, stagnation and exploitation by the few….stop jailing black populations and relegating them to one small island.

“I would also like to add that the Haitians may in general be poor; however they are industrious. Their off-spring will be determined, hungry and will bring some diversity to the local population.”

    Well said!
The Bajan reproductive gene pool is in dire need of a ‘refreshing’ upgrade. After 300 years of in-breeding and genetic photocopying there must be a strong case for some input of foreign blood to diversify the gene pool in order to keep the black Bajan species biologically viable.

Just look at what is happening to the Bajan whites or to the local closed Brethren community and see the effects of putting the same dipstick in the same genetic old oil.

At least the local Muslim and Hindu communities are trying to avoid this genetic cul-de-sac by importing fresh breeding stock.

The introduction of the Haitian blood might just bring about a surge of creativity and a rebirth of survival skills needed to face off the pending economic challenges about to descend on Bajans.

At least the country might be in a genuine position to produce ‘real’ souvenirs of Barbados actually designed and made in Barbados and not imported from China or somewhere in South East Asia.

More so the introduction of ‘different’ biological material might just improve the low-ranking physical phenotype of the obese ungainly ugly looking slow breeding Bajan women (and men).

The old days of bad-skin white men impregnating black women to get ‘light-skin, good-looking’ picaninnies with curly hair who are socially preferred are now long past the pole.

If you do what you have always done you will get what you have always got.

You are talking about a Fridge and I am talking about a Freezer they kind of do similar things and they look alike but they are completely different…

Allow me to tell you the difference so you may take away what you want from it…CBI Citizenship by Investment, most of that money goes to the Government in exchange for Citizenship.

Citizenship by Investment with Benefits is completely different…It kind of sounds alike but is like the Fridge and the Freezer they do different things.

Citizenship by Investment with Benefits, none of the money goes to the Government. The Money is the persons own Property. When he spends the money by buying a house/property/starting a Business/ Partnership or any Combination where the money is used in Barbados plus the benefits of having his Company that he has started Taxed at the off shore rate with other types of benefits that we may have mentioned or may be added.

The Government of Barbados will benefit by the inflow of FOREX. The Person bringing this Sum of 3 million US (compared to 100.000 to 200.000 thousand in some other Caribbean Destinations) will have the Benefits associated with the Citizenship of the Type of Benefits Plus More when the Government does their Due Diligence in creating the Right Environment.

The Investor will not feel robbed because he has not given away his money to anyone or have to buy Favours.

The Government from the time the money is spent will have the use or the FOREX and it did not cost them anything, all they have done is to Attract an Individual of High Worth who could Propel Barbados Forward.

ONE THOUSAND OF THESE INVESTORS WIPE WIPE OUT BARBADOS FOREIGN EXCHANGE DEBT WITH FOREX TO SPARE AND NO MORE TREAT OF AUSTERITY!!

What is there not to like…Do You Prefer Severe Austerity?

Any Question that you may have I will try to Answer them and any Suggestions will be Welcomed.

Well said…too much inbreeding on the island..too many cousin relationships, the gene pool is watered down..and is diluting the African gene pool…and will continue to cause physical and mental diseases running through each generation…….what better gene pool than the still mentally viable, strongest and more powerful Haitian/African stock…to introduce to the dwindling human stock on the island.

I could not for years tell the difference between any of the Closed Brethren..still can’t, they all look alike and are creepy looking carbon copies of each other….that is not physically or mentally healthy in any gene pool…but that is their thing..

I met a cousin from the Yoruba tribe in Nigeria recently, not one drop of european or any other blood except African in her bloodline, such a different scenario to what obtains in the west…a genuinely strong sister from the continent…

….the watered down bloodlines in the Caribbean are presenting all types of social problems…for which the leaders are bereft of solutions.

  10. So an investor pays the required amount to be enrolled in the citizens by Investment program
His background is check everything comes up clean expect that what was not reveal until it is too late that this investor has ties to a terriorist organization by different name
Then what.i am of the view that these small islands are not technologically equipped to do a diligent and just cause against prevention from such occurences
Even the great West with all its sophiticated technology have a difficult time screening each and after application to avoid terriorist activity
These small islands have shown many times over that they do not have the capacity or capability to run a govt efficiently reason why there debt levels have gone through the roof
It is. telling evidence that these small islands should not bite off more than they can chew
Adding another short time quick fix to their economic plight might capsized the boat entirely

  11. Speaking of corruption whatever happened to the lady who was confined to a mental institution because she had spill the beans on Ralph Gonsalves son
All this type of actions reinforces that govts in the Carribbean does not give two hoots about accountability or due dilligence
Can imagine an investor with dirty laundry and a fist full of dollars
    And the winner is ?

With the Implementation of Commie Sing Song as CARICOM Ambassador to CARICOM and as Advisor to the PM on CARICOM Matters and Chop Sticks in Charge of Communications it Seems that Connecting the RED Dots are Not that Farfetched!!

The Globalist will use the Islamist by way of Pursuing the Open Boarders to Conquer Nations. They share the same Ideology ‘to take away the Free Agency of man’. That is their Ideology of Communism/Marxism/Socialism and Radical Islamism.

Do you think that the country with the highest % of ISIS per capita coming from Trinidad is more Likely?

    you are sounding like GPII.
First they bring $3 million onshore and lets say they buy a house. That 3 million goes to the former owner of the house, unless the decision is build one from scratch. The GoB gets its cut in property transfer fees, and the RE agents, if listed, get a piece.
Hence, it is unclear to me, how this $3M goes to alleviate any Fx issue, or Debt.
Isn’t the deal when you bring money in, you reserve the right to take it out?
Barbados to my knowledge doesn’t have Capital Gains tax.
The concept of Benefits seems loosey-goosey at this point?

The offshore BUSINESS creates many good paying jobs. Surely the objective must be to create employment. I think you have to focus on the niche markets within the ‘offshore umbrella’ and work them. What does Nassau and Monaco offer professional sports people that Barbados doesn’t? I know we are weak in the area of Trusts, not sure exactly why.

  21. So wuh happen to my last comment which exposes one Caribbean nation lackof force in exercising due dilligence in its back ground checks for the rich and famous amongst which they are people of nefarious character some of whom are wanted for illegal activity in other countries but because of their fist full of dollars and the countries in need for quick economic revenue these bandits can slip through the cracks undetected

    “you are sounding like GPII.”

If you mean Dr. Georgie Porgie I am Honored, he is a Very Wise, Knowledgeable, Scriptural and Spiritual Individual!

The Investor brings in US$ , he buys a house from a Bajan or Bajan’s build it for him, the money is changed in the Bank to Bajan Dollar and the US foreign Exchange ends up in the Central Bank to be used by the Government as foreign exchange. The problem in Barbados is the Debt repayment in foreign currency that we do not have.

The Purpose of the IMF is to make foreign exchange so expensive for the locals through the imposition of high taxes/devaluation/etc. so that the Government is in a position to pay the the debt with whatever FOREX because the Bajan’s would not be able to afford to buy Goods and Services that originate outside of Barbados.

The IMF do not care or are not in the Business of helping locals, they are only in the Business of making sure the debt is repaid and they will help, but they want to make sure the debt is paid to the foreign lenders.

Then we will be Free to Mess Up Again. IMF is not a Good Guy or a Bad Guy they are just the Debt Collectors and you cannot pay the Debt without Forex.

The easiest method of getting the foreign exchange to the Central Bank is the person buying a property. The Slower ones is by him setting up a business. The money is dispensed slower but the foreign currency ends up the same place.

The Preferred Route is somebody coming to Barbados liking what they see starting an off shore company and hopefully bringing their holding companies to Barbados as off shore companies, hiring local professionals while the Investor living in Barbados, will hire people in Barbados from Gardner’s right up to Financial Controllers.

The Challenge is to find the Right Mix of Benefits that will entice him to come.

Freedom Crier threw out 3 Million as a number to invest…Are we aware that some of those Properties on the west coast sell for Multiples of the 3 Million US…

Superstar Rihanna has splashed out $22million on a beachside home on the Caribbean island of Barbados. Riahanna’s purchased the 10,000-square-foot pad just down the beach from the ¬famous, five-star Sandy Lane Hotel. There are only eight, 10,000 sq ft apartments within the opulent complex that is just a walk on to the beach, each featuring five en-suite bedrooms that boast their own private terraces and dressing rooms.

Just goes to show 3Million US $ is a Modest Sum for Some!!

Key then becomes from whom the purchase is made? Foreigners already own, many of the properties other foreigners desire?
And while money is not the issue for many, their advisors cannot recommend Barbados. Just too risky, until things settle down.

“I do not ever hear you commenting on information system architecture, my point being that you stick to the subject matter that you a comfortable with and comfortable in.”

Have you even Read the Article Mr. Peace? From your comments it seems that you have not but has placed your Prejudice before doing so. Our Nation can be Better before becoming Great don’t you think?

Shouldn’t we all speak on things we know about Mr. Peace?…I for one am not All knowing like some pretend to be and off times are enlightened by those like yourself. I for one do not suffer verbal diarrhea spending my time in the obstructionist WWC latrine.

As for the Information System Architecture, that you accused me of not commenting on in the Article had you read it stated as follows…
“Because of Overstock.com investment in Bitt, Bitt’s technology has the Potential of very soon reaching the financial sector regionally & globally. Barbados has a lot of Information Technology Talent, these people just need funding, reach and guidance which is what these high worth individuals can Contribute.”

You accuse me of staying in my comfort zone while I recognise your weakness is not understanding the ramifications of Socialism which is a topic you avoid like the plague and as for Free Market Capitalism if you do not grasp the understanding of Socialism that is counter to Freedom and only glimpse Cronyism where Governments are in Bed with Big Businesses and Call that Capitalism that is really what makes everybody poor Except the Elitist.

You say Mr. Peace “The things that I know WILL BUILD BARBADOS BELONG for the most part TO THE KNOWLEDGE ECONOMY
Many of my proposals don’t even exists or if they do exist, don’t fall into the domain of accustomed knowledge pools and usually meets with downright idiocy, palpable incredulity but mostly FEAR.

MINE is the belief that the mono economy that you are promoting is based on consumerism

What you are constantly advocating produces nothing yet consumes 80% of the little resources our country generates every year.
You and others with the capitalist chant, support a system that is inherently self destructive”

The Mono economy that you accuse me of supporting is like supporting a one Plank of Economy like Tourism…I have never stated thus. I have spoken about Entrepreneurship and it is very unlikely that all the Entrepreneurs would come up with the same Ideas. In the Article it promotes Knowledge based economies by promoting information Technology.

If this is what you mean by Consumerism every Society in the world would want to make life easier and more productive for its people by allowing its people the “Consumerism Luxuries” like washing machines, running water in their home, indoor plumbing, and clothes to wear other than the Mau Tunic etc.

How could an idea related to making money that could Repay the foreign Debt of Barbados be “self-destructive” and “make Barbados Poor Again” according to you Mr. Peace?

Really Sir I expect much more of you but I can clearly see you are way out of your Comfort Zone.

Never too old to learn except when you think you know everything…

Do you agree with Trump and Geert wilder that due to mass immigration parts of England and indeed Europe is unrecognisable.

What do you think will happen to little old Barbados if we do the same?

  39. Lawyers will argue in the High Court of Australia next month that Indigenous people should be exempt from the government’s mandatory deportation powers.
Immigration laws changed in 2014 allowing visas to be revoked if a person has been convicted of a crime carrying a jail sentence of a year or longer.
Data shows the number of visa cancellations in Australia has increased steadily since then.
A significant proportion of people currently detained at onshore detention centres face the prospect of being sent to New Zealand, the Pacific Islands or Papua New Guinea, including those who have lived in Australia for most of their life.
In some cases the government has attempted to deport people with Indigenous heritage, notably Daniel Love and Brendan Thoms.
Both men have one Aboriginal parent, were born overseas and lived in Australia since they were young children. They were both told shortly before their scheduled release from jail they would instead be going to immigration detention.
Love, a Kamilaroi man born in Papua New Guinea, had his visa reinstated after seven weeks in detention and has sued for $200,000. Thoms, a Gunggari man born in New Zealand, remains in detention.
In a submission filed with the High Court last week, lawyers for the men argued that they could not be considered “aliens” under the Australian Constitution.
“We need that clarification by the highest court in the land to say that someone who is Aboriginal, who is decedent from the first people of Australia before the European settlement, can’t be an alien,” Maurice Blackburn senior associate Claire Gibbs told NITV.(Quote)
