I am wondering if what we are now seeing is a result of Trump gaining new confidence that he can control, without taking any advice, all the forces that appear to be rallying against him at this time. Part of this equation is that he now thinks he can handle Putin despite anything that Putin might have holding over him. Thus he has calculated that Golden showers, true or not, cannot affect his presidency at this stage and also that Putin has no real cards to play that could affect him, eg., by providing evidence of collusion which he thinks Putin cannot do.
He will not treat Putin and Russia with singular respect again.

I suspect that Trump’s mental stability is at a most dangerous stage right now. He thinks he has absolute power and no one to pull him back from whatever he wants to do

The News agencies are tripping over one another with new revelations, all seemingly likely to push Trump over the edge. e.g. Michael Cohen now seems likely to plead the Fifth Amendment re. the Stormy Daniel’s suit; Trump and Mueller’s lawyers appear to have abandoned the effort to get Trump to be interviewed by Mueller’s team; Mueller appears set to produce a separate report detailing the results of and concluding the Obstruction of Justice phase of his investigations within a month or so; Fox appears to have started an all out coordinated war against Mueller personally; Comey’s book is due for release next week but it has been leaked fairly widely. Excerpts seem to be fairly damning as Comey appears to have set out to thoroughly destroy Trump. Lots of hubris there. etc. etc.
The noose is tightening.
A constitutional crisis appears to be on the horizon and approaching fast if Mueller operates in the typical Special prosecutor fashion of compelling the President to attend an interview by subpoena if he so desires, but the smart money is on Mueller, sidestepping a constitutional crisis (Who could he send to drag Trump out of the Whitehouse ) by merely omitting the interview and not giving Trump the option to refuse attending an interview and then proceed to complete his report without it.
The reports on Collusion and other matters are apparently in an advanced stage of preparation.
Meanwhile there are still some indications that an attack on Syria is still on the cards.

This is the clearest evidence so far of Trump’s collusion with the Russians re. its 2016 elections actions. Who knows what else is amongst the documents and electronic files seized from Cohen’s home / offices last week? Also now in the public domain is that Cohen was the main fixer in the case of the recently outed Senator who Cohen approached to fix his adultery problems. Over 1 million dollars was used in a failed attempt to fix that problem. The Senator has recently resigned
Cohen, and therefore Trump, are in deep doo-doo. Is this “wag the dog” activity therefore one of the reasons why Trump, allied with Bolton, was trying to increase the degree of force to be used in the syrian strike but with some pushback from the Generals? Trump indicated that the action last night was just one stage of continuing action that would only cease when Syria stopped gassing its citizens. The Military did not seem to concur with this as they indicated that it was a one-off action. Who’s lying here?
The Syrians and Russians seem to have been claiming that several of the incoming missiles were destroyed by Syrian batteries. It would be interesting to get a clearer picture on this later today or whenever. Whatever, the situation is still fraught with danger.

I can state that because there was careful back and forth (as reported) between Russia and the NATO allies. Very obvious too that Russia did not bring any of its own impressive array of tech to the party even after saying they would defend Assad strongly. Surely a strong defense should have demanded missile return fire on that warship in the Red Sea which was reported to have been part of the strikes…
Maybe it was a Defcon 3 non-nuclear state likely when the order was given to strike but it seems not ONE Russian jet was scrambled to sortie with any of the B1s, Tornados or Rafaels nor to the Red Sea…so clearly the defcon level never beeped one ping…who knows, maybe the raid actually started and ended with Defcon at 5…its base readiness level.
Thankfully this is still all smoke and mirrors as clearly exemplified by the Russian ambassador beating his chest that it’s unacceptable to embarrass his supreme leader and there will be consequences and that same supreme leader calling for an emergency meeting of the United Nations’ Security Council.
Let’s all hope this two step waltz dance continues! Much better and safer theatre than the alternatives.
