  3. All is important for the DLP is to sit with their … in their silver Mercedes and enjoy the free ride – typical behaviour of post-colonial Wabenzis.

    In Bim you pay for the worst products 150 % more than in developed countries – and the DLP calls that “progress”. I call it serfdom. You pay like in Norway and Switzerland and get shit in return.

    Wow, Jerry Stuart, it takes no 10 years of free tertiary education to figure out how the true status of Bim is. Look at our “competitors”: Southern Italy. Ever been in Napoli? They burn their rubbish on the street. Surely, we get that next as Jerry´s progress. Ever been in Greece? Suicide rate is rocking, credit crunch, austerity, Troika dictatorship etc pp.

    However, some of the worst wrong decisions go back several decades. Look at the very low productivity in Bim and the big salary increases before 2008. If salaries were in line with productivity, no public servant should earn more than 2,500 BBD per month. Look at the ministerial and judicial hydrocephalus. Look at the very big government buildings for this island.

  4. While I have no authority to say the following, I wish to apologize on behalf of the democratic labour party for its failure to get to the number one position in this instance. They are leaders of one of the happiest and most successful countries in the world and have worked diligently over the past seven years to see to it that Barbados is a world leader. After leading the Caribbean for so many years and being the country that other looked to for leadership it is extremely disappoint to the democratic labour party to have failed in securing this number one position. Be assured that this failure will not deter the party of choice from pursuing the enviable targets of sanitation, health, education, finance, housing, ease of doing business etc.

  5. Today, the People’s Democratic Congress (PDC) continues with its national flyer campaign against Mia Mottley ever becoming any prime minister of any government of this country.

    As it stands, Mottley, intellectually and politically speaking – is the worst Opposition Leader in the post-independent political history of Barbados.

    She has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING of substance to offer the people of Barbados.

    For, those persons who have not as yet been aware of this campaign, which has been itself going on for several weeks now – this campaign has at its center the political education of the average recipient of the flyer, by the propounding – for their benefit – of five reasons (and there are others) why Mottley must NEVER EVER be allowed by the broad masses and middle classes of people of Barbados to become any prime minister of any government of Barbados.

    The five reasons are:

    (1) She FAILED massively to stop many of the fiascoes and scandals (GEMS, Greenland, NHC Warrens Offices, the Silver Sands Beach Bath Facility, etc), and the endemic corruption and squandermania that was involved, when part of the Cabinet of the government of Barbados from 1994 – 2008;

    (2) She has FAILED to be part of any great causes for the sustained upliftment and betterment of the people of this country, especially women, vendors, minibus operators, the landless, disabled, etc;

    (3) She has FAILED miserably to produce a vision, a cosmology, blueprint for the further growth and development of Barbados, in spite of her having been a supposed but weak intellectual light in the BLP;

    (4) She has FAILED continuously to use her political office to fight against countless imperialist designs and forces in our midst, despite the many threats and encroachments that have been made by such forces on our society;

    (5) She has FAILED ostensibly to understand the unchallengeable God-given right of men that have been called upon by God to lead ALL societies including Barbados.

    The flyer concludes by stating that given “these and other dire failings by Miss Mottley, it is very clear that Mottley remains ABSOLUTELY intellectually and politically unqualified to become prime minister of any government of this country”.

    So far this national flyer campaign has been a resounding success, with thousands of people that we have come in contact with indicating that they ABSOLUTELY, WHOLLY reject the notion of Mia Mottley becoming any prime minister of the government of Barbados, and promising NOT to vote for any BLP candidates – including herself – in the next election.

  6. Seems as though the DLP recruited PDC for their election campaign.

    Dying economies accumulate taxes like dying men accumulate remedies.

    I hope Stinkliar increases VAT again tomorrow, it seems we will need rioting in the streets to institute real change.

  8. While he’s at it Frustrated Businessman, he needs to increase the tariff on water because the supply is so reliable. Sanitation needs a boost in revenue so too road tax as our roads are being maintained it pristine condition. Bus fares should be increased because it is unreasonable of the traveling public to expect that this oppressed and unappreciated government can continue to provide all of these new buses and sparkling terminals for an ungrateful public. Oh yes, a reintroduction of school fees because results have seen a meteoric improvement in results. Need I mention Health? Nah, we are fortunate that under this government, health care has improved dramatically and it is time that the public start paying for ALL THE FREENESS that our benevolent government gives to us and underserving set of mendicants.

  9. Instead of criticising those who speaks truth about Mottley u should take to heart the criticism and in turn try to understand the political landmines that Mia created for herself past and present
    So far her effort to rebrand and reimage herself was not taken seriously because she has used the kind of political hattricks to attack and divide a country at its weakest instead of having the presence of mind to indulge and promote herself as a exceptional leader.
    Just think of the many internal housefighting in the past seven years within her party many of which she was unable to take the control and still have not been rectified

  10. @FearPlay

    Higher Taxes? Is it irony or some grass?

    Some people on this island pay already 1,000 dollars road tax per year or even more – whereas ministers, judges, bureaucrats and their families get a free ride. I call that a society of serfdom and economic suppression.

    I join the Frustrated one – as long as Barbadians stay at home instead of marching nothing will ever change.

  11. @ FearPlay

    Fear not lad, water rates are going up 40% effective 4pm local time tomorrow. Also getting a 2% across the board tax and increased tax on banking assets. Sanitation will not be given a financial lifeline as that is to be privatised immediately after budget to Bjerkhamn and Malonely so it must be kept financially constrained to both justify its sale while ensuring the lowest price possible is paid.

    Some people on this island pay already 1,000 dollars road tax per year or even more –

    Road Tax? You mean taxes collected to ensure our roads are kept in usable condition? We haven’t had Road Tax in 8 years.

    What we have had is the systematic, institutionalised robbery of Bajan citizens in order to prop up a failing socialist state at any cost to keep unproductive people employed by said state in an a welfare system where performance and achievement are snuffed out for the comfort of the collective.

    Property tax? We don’t have that either. Anyone who paid property tax in the last eight years got any benefit for their property? Road-side maintenance has been privatised to the Maloney group.

    Too many tax spenders in this country, not enough taxable earners.

    We are a joke of a place. Stinkliar Nero trying to balance the shop books while the building burns.

  13. Sarcasm aside now – what will it take for us, the citizens of this country, to say “Enough is enough”! To think of how docile we have become in letting a pack of morons dictate how much of our earning we can keep is the ultimate in kowtowing to the school yard bully. Two more years of this? Every one of them should be scorned and ridiculed whenever seen in public. If they attend an even where you are present there should be a walkout in total. Minister sponsoring an event – don’ go. Minister in line at the supermarket – join another line. Minister attending a military or police parade – don’t attend. If you are at church and one of them should attend the same service – get up and leave (the Almighty will understand). A simple act like turning your backs to any one of these lepers whenever they present themselves in public will send the message that they are scorned. (They will be dealt with after elections and are no longer protected by the authorities).

    We have to do something to move this train wreck along before the emergency valve blows and then, heaven help us.

    Much easier than that. Tell your employer tomorrow you want to change your status to ‘self-employed contractor’. And take charge of your financial affairs. No more NIS, PAYE etc. to come out of your earnings, just cash at the end of the week/month. Then YOU decide what to do with your money, what taxes and social contributions to pay etc.

    Gov’t depends on good corporate citizens’ taxes to support their corrupt system and good corporate citizens’ biggest contribution after import taxes is the money they take on behalf of gov’t from their employees. The system would collapse in a month.

  15. @Frustrated …

    Indeed, we do not get any benefits for taxation. Isn´t “benefit for taxation” even more important than “no taxation without representation”?

    Cash: You need foreign sources to survive in Bim.
    Health: You need foreign insurance and access to foreign health care to survive here.
    Roads: You need a heavy SUV or a truck to drive around Bim without havoc.
    Schools: You need to send your children to private schools to avoid the known problems.
    Security: You need an alarm and bars to secure yourself.
    University: You need your children to send abroad to northern and central Europe where tertiary education is free.

    So, where is the need for a state taxing people?

    This country was on a fairly good way until that guy from London came into office.

    Barbados is a BOMB that was dropped from 30,000 just waiting for full impact , lies and crooks will never add up to nothing good, To many ministers and lawyers naked in a snake pit looking to type up the next lie to sell to the people, The World already knows the truth,The people are stuck in party mode, in the street parties and the Parties clubs of the DBLP.

    Usain Bolt is forcing money into Jamaica, Rihanna could do the same for Barbados but there are certainly differences between the two countries and certainly those two celebrities, Usain Bolt and Rihanna
