Former MP Dean Del Mastro in handcuffs
Former MP Dean Del Mastro in handcuffs

Here we go again!

Even before the Cahill Energy Scam has been forgotten, enters Del Mastro centre stage.

Deltro Group (Del Mastros) is reported to be responsible for constructing a 20 megawatt solar farm on 70 acres of land somewhere in Waterford for which he has received concessions from the Barbados government.

What does Del Mastro’s Solar Farm have in common with Cahill Energy?

Little or nothing is known about the principals of the Canadian Energy company AND what is known is unflattering. The unwillingness of this government to share information with Barbadians who elected them to serve will go along way to secure the legacy of the Stuart administration, one of the most secretive in our post Independence history in Barbados.

BU found it to be embarrassing business to read and listen of exchanges between Dean Del Mastro, reported to be CFO of Deltro Group and local entrepreneur Bizzy Williams. Why is this news if our government led by Denis Lowe and Donville Inniss have not adequately shared the nature of the relationship with these Del Mastro people? Would this type of transaction unfold the way it has so far in Barbados in a developed country?

How insulting to the people of Barbados in the build up to 50 years of Independence. Say Pride and Industry anyone?

A couple simple questions for our government:-

  1. What is the track record of Deltro Group in the solar power business?
  2. What concessions have been offered to Deltro Group by government?
  3. Was due diligence done by the government on the Del Mastros who appear to fit the definition of Politically Exposed People (PEP)?

BU family member Due Diligence unearthed the following blog to support positioning Deltro Group front and centre for investigation by the BU family.

  1. is there is someone named eralc nawoc on the board ,bajans sometimes can be easily fooled

  2. Lowe’s name seem to pop up every time a Canadian sets out to hoodwink this DLP government.Wonder of wonders, they fall for scams every time led by the great and super intelligent Freundel Stuart, the 8-4 Prime Minister of Barbados. Can anyone say if Stuart makes it a point to read the Washington Post, the Toronto Globe and Mail, the Times, the Telegraph, the Guardian of the U.K.Does he follow market trends? What a PM!!It is obvious that Inniss,Lowe,Worrell realize they are dealing with a nincompoop and lead him by the ear every time. They tell him a black goat is the same as a white monkey and he believes it because these are esteemed persons,in his view,of course.

  3. Anybody from over and away can fool these morons……..as well as the local fly by night tycoon!

“Out of either politeness or ignorance, the online newspaper, Barbados Today, made no reference to Del Maestro’s criminal conviction. You can read their story here by going to page 2 and 3 of the publication.”

That’s why newspapers in Barbados are not credible. … it’s public record that Del Mastro is a felon, yet the nation and Barbados Today both refuse to include what everyone in North America and Europe knows about the conviction.

Sensible people will see this as aiding and abetting felons because they look white….we all know Peter Harris of barbadostoday will be hard pressed to finger anyone as a criminal….with everyone inside and outside of Barbadis knowing of his activities and it’s just a matter of time before fireign newspapers ket their citizens know about him, but still, it’s known worldwide that Del Mastro has been convicted. ..twice.

I will reiterate, no Caribbean felon can go to any country and open business while demanding government concessions…Innis knows this yet he encourages it in Barbados…without explanation to the citizens who pay his salary.

It’s disgusting what black government ministers allow on the island…for bribe money. Why else would the government allow a few criminals to do as they like on the island.

    Lawson…..lol

I met some Canadians who said they were headed to Barbados to start a solar project, this was around March, they had this Bajan dude in tow and I could swear he looked like that dude used to play drums for Spice…apparently they running down to Barbados in droves.

Since Clare Cowan said all the government ministers in Barbados are corrupt…the word spread like wildfire and every 2 bit crook is making their way to Barbados looking for concessions……whether they have money or not ……like if bajans owe them something. Apparently the only criteria needed is to LOOK white and SAY ya have money.

No bajan can go to Canada or US and do any of that crap.

Then ya have the halfassed bajan whites feeling threatened that real whites will go into Barbados and steal the 30 year old bribery arrangement they got with the DBLP government ministers to steal from the taxpayers to the tune of hundreds of millions of dollars….robbing the treadury with contrived scams.

Can’t any of them see where this is going,…they should all be locked up.

Gabriel…you have to look to the younger generation to save you if that is what you think you need, the older generation of politicians are compromised, slave-like and useless to their own people…the dudes you just called are all dead…there is no escaping it.

  10. Dean Del Mastro was on bail, after spending one night in a Canadian jail, when he flew to Barbados and made a sweetheart deal with this Government. This Government, or any other Barbados Government, should not be making deals with ex-cons! That is a slap in the faces of the taxpayers of this country! It’s just like the one it made with David Ames of Harlequin Resorts. He was wanted by the British authorities for fraud re. houses he was supposed to have built in Thailand. They never materialised either.

  11. This deal is not about Denis Lowe, Darcy Boyce or Donville Inniss, it is about the reputation and brand of Barbados. At some point we have to hold these jackasses accountable for frittering all the gains the forefathers worked hard to accrue.

  12. The dirtiness about all of this is the 70 acres of land in Waterford was acquired by this Government and the owner has not been paid for his property (just like Bushy Park) and the Government is leasing that same land to the fraudster Del Mastro for (what they said) two Million a year.

Froon is not nearly capable of reining in those lunatic and deep pocket politicians. So we are doomed and the Canadians know this and is awaiting to administer their knockout blow(s).

Anything that Lowe can possibly get his hands on to pay for his treatment in the US he is going after and we do sympathize with him.

Chris is quietly robbing us blind and the Nation will not print anything but what he and his group want to be published.

We all know what the deal is with Harris and B’dos today and his other enterprises.

So we seem to be shadow boxing and still getting whooped. The most we Bajans can do is keep up the pressure on the fraudsters and just maybe, the police will get involved for our benefit.

  13. The profits of international companies keep climbing never mind they keep sending home Bajans.

  14. Well Well & Consequences Avatar

“We all know what the deal is with Harris and B’dos today and his other enterprises.”

And despite being aware of what Peter Harris does, the government is trying to help protect those criminal activities by attempting to help Leacock stay DPP for anither 9 years, which would see Harris continuing all his parasitic, criminal activities for another 9 years, protected from prosecution and consequences for another 9 years…..the government care nothing about the vicious and unfair their people have been subjected to by Harris and his business partners, some of them ministers and politicians. …for the last 20 years.

  15. Wasn’t this land earmarked in part for a national park?
Did anyone hear anything about this before?
Hasn’t Del Mastro already started importing materials to the port?
Wasn’t BL&P hesitant where local RE players are concerned?
Didn’t local players make an aggressive push for the same type of permission?
Isn’t this now the 2nd forex project announced that hasn’t been officially approved yet?
Is it coincidence that the same names keep “popping” back up over and over again?
Isn’t it now clear that 6 is half dozen?

Mia must really have an extra large built in cupboard filled with skeletons that these guys believe they can essentially do whatever they want….all the time.

Will the real leaders please stand up?
Will the people every speak out?

    Just Observing

  17. Barbados – a land where all crooked businessmen are welcomed!

  18. @ Donna
Jail birds of a feather flock together …. so to speak 🙂

  19. Here we go again scaring off more foreign direct investment which will end up in competing jurisdictions to the detriment of Barbados. Once due diligence is rigorous when FDI comes a calling there must be a posture of welcome to the investors who have millions of choices of where to park their money. It would be useful to conduct a survey to find out how much billions the country has lost over the past 40 years because of pettiness and selfishness of the private sector moguls on the one hand ,red tape by the government on the other and shocking hypocrisy all around.

One fact is certain poor blacks who need FDI most derive zero benefits when FDI takes flight because of unwarranted attacks by selfish, self centered, arrogant maguffies in the business sector. When will we learn these greed driven tycoons care only about themselves. Government’s timidity in confronting the white elites who maintain a lock on the economy since slavery is to be lamented. Fabricated reasons about environmental fears, corruption by the foreign investor, locals can do it better if all taxes and duties are waived are favorite arguments used to drive the people who bring FDI out. The economy all the while stagnates with pockets of prosperity for a minority class as the mass of black poor wallow in poverty and deprivation.

“Fabricated reasons about environmental fears, corruption by the foreign investor, locals can do it better if all taxes and duties are waived are favorite arguments used to drive the people who bring FDI out.”

    @ In and Out

Are you suggesting Barbados should adopt the role of a geisha to court potential rich foreign investors because “certain poor blacks who need FDI most derive zero benefits?” Sounds like you want to “pimp out” Barbados to the highest bidder……. In the real world that is akin to prostitution.

My friend, people have a right to express their concerns about any foreigner who wants to invest in this island. Perhaps you seem to have forgotten the Allen Stanford scenario.

The former Antiguan administration accepted Stanford with open arms because he invested millions of dollars in the island, provided Antiguans with high paying jobs, “greased the hands” of politicians and financed election campaigns.

Do you believe that the Antiguan authorities did not know of Sanford’s antecedents? Bear in mind, when in Old Road, Antigua, one can see Montserrat clearly.

A broker named Jerome Schneider, who was convicted of fraud, exploited Montserrat’s financial regulations and begun selling banking licenses. In 1985, Sanford was one of those persons who bought a fraudulent banking license to establish a “shell bank” called “Guardian International Bank” in the island. After an investigation by the FBI and the Office of Comptroller of Currency, which revealed Sanford was connected to money laundering, the government eventually revoked his license in 1991.

Sanford moved to Antigua and the rest is history. Do you believe the Antiguan government at the time was unaware of Sanford’s fraudulent operations in Montserrat? Antiguan politicians “pimped out” Antigua and accepted him with open arms, similarly to how one of the girl’s in Bridgette International Bar would accept a wealthy client.

Hundreds of Antiguans unemployed, Antigua facing law suits from American investors, property sold to repay those Sanford defrauded and the island still facing embarrassment for embracing a known fraud, were the consequences as a result of their prostitution.

  21. @David,
In and out wrote”… pockets of prosperity for a minority class as the mass of black poor wallow in poverty and deprivation.” Doesn’t this apply to every other country in the world? Barbados is not unique in this respect as some people seem to believe.
Whatever changes take place people like Donna will never be satisfied. It is their nature to denigrate everything. Their utopia can never be realized.

  22. YET ANOTHER BOA DANGLES AROUND THE NECKS OF BAJANS.

  23. Dean Del Mastro was released from jail on bail pending an appeal of his appeal. It is significant to note that he was a major figure in the Stephen Harper administration and is accused of voter fraud just as what Stuart and Brathwaite claim they have proof of but never reported to the authorities. This DLP would welcome this shady guy as a bedfellow and see nothing wrong in doing business with him.Its the type of hypocrisy playing out in American pol’i’tics with Donald Trump and Fox News seeing nothing wrong with Melanja Knavs-Trump bearing all her worldly goods,’naked as she born’ as Bajans would say,but if Michelle Obama had done that, hell would have no fury like the O’Reilly types born.

Frustrated Businessman aka ‘Nation of Laws’ my ass.

    Interesting pattern.

The land was compulsorily acquired from a owner for the ‘national interest’ as mandated by law. The owner was never paid.

Now the land is being leased by gov’t to a private concern (not the National Interest, rather a trader in a competitive energy market) for a commercial project.

Sound anything like the Bushy Park arrangement?

Sounds to me like the original owner has a good case to retake possession of his land and lease it directly to the Canadian crooks after the gov’t has ‘facilitated’ the planning permission for Zone 1 land that no-one else in BDS could ever get. In the past the Chief Town Planner has even refused parking in Zone 1 areas but now we can have construction it would seem.

There will be moral or ethical recovery under Fumble’s Fools.

Fact: America’s national debt stands at $17 trillion. That’s a tough number to grasp. Most people will never come close to making $1 million in any given year. How can we understand the magnitude of the hole our country is in?

  26. Alvin,

You know the mere fact that I long for Utopia says something positive about my character. It means that I long for justice and fairness for all people. THAT IS MY NATURE! Only a demon like YOU could portray that as a negative.

Funny, a few years ago I was filled with hope. I thought we were making progress albeit slowly. I was satisfied with that.

You, on the other hand are satisfied with living in a cesspool of lies and deceit. THAT is YOUR NATURE!

I’ll take my nature over yours any day!

    SLIMEBALL!

  27. And that is my denigration of Alvin Cummins.

  28. The link provide from Gabriel, Canadian Broadcasting Corporation news confirm that this Del Mastro dude is CONVICTED CRIMINAL.

Why does Darcy the Larceny and Denis the Menace keep bring the Canadian criminals to Barbados to get married to the government and people of Barbados?

First Cowen with Cahill and now Del Mastro with Deltro, a pack of bandits.

Alvin…your logic is always flawed and useless., because something happens in other parts of the world, does not make acceptable or the citizens resigned to being victims of thieves, when it can be avoided on a small ass rock.

you prefer see a bunch of halfassed thieves like Bizzy, Del Mastros, Parris, Harris Maloney, Bjerkham a small minority aided by the tiefing politicians continue to steal from 270,000 plus black people for another 100 years because that is what happens in other countries…, a minority of thieves stealing from a majority aided by corrupt politicians and that is ok with you, your people being relegated to pauoers by thievesm when it’s totally avoidable and that is ok by you.. …is that all you have to offer your people.

Do you plan to send another thieving Clare Cowan from Canaada to Barbados to steal from your people, because everyone else is doing it….you are such a jackass.

  31. As Past Zone said at 2:07, it is clear that Del Mastro is a convicted criminal not just an accused.

Why is the Nation so terrified to publish this fact?

  32. Well Well & Consequences Avatar
    Well Well & Consequences

Old Baje…it apparently does not matter either to the government ministers or the newspapers if Del Mastro is a convicted felon, he meets Barbados’ criteria of being white, foreign and criminal, all ya need to get access to taxpayer’s contracts, treasury money and a get out of jail free card….all so he gets a free pass to continue his activities uninterrupted. ..including getting concessions which will once again disenfranchise the majority blacks on the island.

That is the government’s intent, it’s what they live for.

    http://ow.ly/MAta3035tD2

On an aside, I remember when Clinton saw herself losing the 2008 elections to Obama, she made a veiled suggestion that should he die, she will be president.

Now her best buddy Trump is making veiled suggestions of his own regarding the 2nd amendment and the right to shoot, she is upset.

Wouldn’t it be really nice if they both work harder at getting rid of each other.

  33. Because the radiation fall out from a nuclear war would reach Barbados I have to support Clinton.

  34. @Alvin Cummins what a bundle of hogwash for an excuse. My bloody two pickneys or future generations aint interested in who do what in other countries to perpetuate poor governance and theft.

@Alvin Cummims you and all other political operatives need a lesson in truth and patriotism for blind ignorant loyalty is just as bad a crime as treason.

  35. Seems like there are a few more people longing for Utopia. But as Alvin so gleefully stated – it will never be realized. What he neglected to say is that he and his buddies do not want Utopia and are doing all in their power to ensure we smell hell instead. You see, in Utopia they could not strut about like lords of all they survey and look down their noses at anyone. And that is what they live for – the trumpet sound (blown by Alvin) heralding their appearances.

In plenty for them and in time of need for everybody else!

So far, within 24 hours we had one AC saying we don’t have what it takes to solve our own problems and the other AC stating that all we are experiencing happens in the very countries to which we must, apparently, look for our solutions.

    Bushie! Help!

It really will be poetic justice if Del Mastro does get a year in prison on his next hearing, just for trying to slither out of paying for being slimy.

  40. All Del Mastroo has to do is skip bail and the Bajan politicians will embrace him and keep him out of his troubles. Hasn’t he already paid some funds to the deep pockets?

Of course the bajan politicians will also want campaign financing, both political parties….and their bribe payments to protect Del Mastro…they will all get in on the act.

    They are a disgrace.

  42. The Nation newspaper reports Barbados ranking in the ease of doing business is in free fall. Egotists like Bizzy with lackeys in tow continue to give foreign investors a torrid introduction to the country. The degusting outbursts from big business tycoons of the ilk Bizzy allied to dizzying public servant red tape makes for a dead end as investors shun these shores in droves.

The cheering section for Say No to FDI is led by unlikely partners in the David’s including Commisiong alleged to be a communist and BU regulars. The NGO’s also have their say none of which is supportive of foreign investment. With no fresh money entering to spur growth in the economy the same BU yard fowls wash the Central Bank governor in curse. Dr. Worrell cant squeeze blood from stone. His plea for an enabling and welcoming environment for foreign investment to come in and create jobs falls on deaf ears. Unemployment remains a curse spawning young gangsters with guns and the frightening block culture. When will we ever learn.

Tell Governor Worrell we want to know why there is a deposit in the name of Leroy Parris held at the Central Bank.

  44. You are all looking at who is doing this and not the fact that this will help Barbados. I’m sure if there was a company in Barbados that could handle this size project they would have received the contract. From what I can see this is a great thing for Barbados it will help reduce energy prices and will employ many people. It seems to me it wouldn’t matter who got this contract everyone on here would find some reason to bitch. I strongly believe you are the negative people in this world that tries to bring the positive people down. GIVE PEOPLE A CHANCE AND TRY TO TRUST IN YOUR GOVERNMENT.

  45. @ Brian
    Don’t make a fool of yourself…
If it was so great Deltro would have done it in Canada…
If it would be so GREAT for Barbados it should be put up to TENDER …as our laws require.
This is a simple ASSEMBLY plant for crying out loud…

Do you understand the meaning of the word ‘gullible’?

  46. In And Out what you have saud is true and as plain as the lught of day.
Given the regressive opposition to Foreign development investment one can only hope and pray that barbados does not end up like a Cuba or Venezuela. It seems that slme in barbados rather ay russian roulette with the economy than be agrressive players taking full advantage if a global market.
Only time would telll how all this political grandstanding plays out but from where i sit in the gallery and observe and feel the heat of the temperature it does not look good
Barbadians have to make quick and necessary decision on the political path it wants to pursue and must not be stymied by messages of fear and gloom but a voice that welcomes and nutures an economic enviroment that enlist progress and benefits country and people

  47. After reading posts by Brian, ac and In and out……one would not believe that their party, the DLP who had all the answers to everything that ailed Barbados during the OSA years, has not been the government from 2008 until this present day.

The BLP encouraged the young people who were not academically inclined by giving them wackers (nearly putting Bush Tea out of business) so that they coud at least employ themselves. What did the dems do………lambasted the whole project………….

I could well remember Esther Byer………one of the contestants for the worse minister trophy lambasting the project….the BLP gave people wackers, we will give them good paying jobs. They never said where the jobs were to come from. I now wonder if the jobs are to come from….China, Timbutu, Alaska or Siberia……… the youth are still waiting.

And after watching Dr Worrell and the Stinkliar horror story unfold over years destroying the economy, this yardfowl has the nerve to write …………..”Unemployment remains a curse spawning young gangsters with guns and the frightening block culture. When will we ever learn”.

You are right in one respect, the dems never knew and they have learnt nothing these past eight years!
