Without him even having to give one Hail Mary, we seem to have given Prime Minister Freundel Stuart a pass regarding the latest scandal in his administration. Mr. Stuart will go down in History as the weakest and most unpopular Prime Minister of Barbados. Among his failures to date are: the un-kept promises made to the electorate for two consecutive general elections, the buying of votes, the economic downgrades as well as the overall handing of the economy, increases in taxation, decline in the delivery of social services and his government’s action of not providing free tertiary education to the children of tax payers at the UWI.

He has not displayed any leadership skills either to his Ministers or to the people of Barbados. His approach does not demonstrate an ounce of responsibility towards the people of Barbados. He is so out of touch with the reality of life in Barbados that he can only be likened to a man who literally fell asleep at the wheel. Perhaps he lives in the wrong time and may have been more suitable to have been living in Medieval England as he enjoys flowery speech.

Then they are the scandals.

Under his leadership the government has been rocked with scandal after scandal making the TV series by that name quite tame. Just when you think it can get no worse, another explosion is seen and heard. The most notable of these have been the Clico scandal, the scandal involving the Speaker of the House, the Coverley Scandal, the Cahill Scandal and now the Mark Maloney and TCPD scandal.

It is a well known fact that the Prime Minister was intimately connected to three of the biggest scandals to rock the island. The first scandal occurred when the Speaker of the House was found guilty by the High Court of stealing a sum of money from an septuagenarian. It was some time during that scandal that the PM used those infamous words that have now become immortalized by every Barbadian. Amidst the allegations, when the story first broke and had not yet reached the Courts, the Prime Minister was quoted in his defense of the Speaker of the House advising him to get a Lawyer.”

With regards to the Clico Scandal, thousands of Barbadians lost their retirement savings in a Ponzi scheme involving Leroy Parris and other managers of Clico as well as deceased Prime Minister David Thompson and his wife Mara Thompson. Again in this scandal the PM delivered another quote that will remain in living memory for many years to come. In defense of Leroy Parris, he stated that “Leroy is not a Leper.”

The Cahill Scandal involved a group of government Ministers signing an agreement to build a plasma Gasification plant on the 166sq ml island without the approvals of the Town and Country Planning Department, an Environmental Impact Assessment or the usual Town Hall Meetings to involve the public. Despite the public revelation of the signed documents on the Internet, the Prime Minister’s in his own defense in a much publicized quote claimed that nothing can’t happen unless I say so.”

I cannot recall him stating anything publicly about the Coverley Scandal even the circumstances surrounding the death of young Abijah Holder.

The latest scandal involves business man Mark Maloney refusing to comply Town and Country Planning directives to remove a structure he is currently building. The Prime Minister must have commented. This brings me to the source of this article that we are missing the infamous quotes made by the Prime Minister in defense of or regarding Mark Maloney. These quotes may have again brought him into disrepute. In an effort to avoid being involved in the scandal or his name associated with the scandal or yet again having his infamous quotes on the lips of every Barbadian, the Prime Minister passed the responsibility for the Town and Country Planning Department unto Minister of Energy Darcy Boyce.

The real dilemma here is that the Prime Minister made a very short sighted judgement. While he may have won the battle, he has lost the war. He forgot the Laws of cause and effect. The Prime Minister appears to have created a psychotic monster. We now know because we have seen the evidence twice of his laughing at a young man’s death, ordering plants to be dug up and removed as well as his delusional rants that there is a ruthless, narcissistic personality on the loose. One wonders what he will do next. Does it mean that the Prime Minister himself is afraid to deal with the serial law breaker Mark Maloney? Can this lead to a matter of national security with the rise of a Bajan Mafia who believe that their entitlement puts them above our laws and that they can take out whoever opposes them? Will the rest of the population have to pay bribes to the Maloneys to get simple things done? Does it set it stone that bribery and corruption are now part of the norm for everyday life in Barbados?

One would have thought that the Prime Minister would be cognizant of the fact that Mark Maloney in fragrantly disregarding the Laws of Barbados is sending the wrong message to the rest of the population and that he would have stood up like a real man and do as the song says “I and I created a problem and I must solve it

Please tell me why he would be any less entitled that the geriatric scammers (as someone called them) who can only make a name for themselves in little 166 square mile Barbados?

  6. Fumble knows only too well that making Mark Maloney, Bizzy Williams or Bjorn Bjerkhamn a Knight cannot gain him one vote in his constituency in the upcoming all-important better for Barbados. Wunna have any idea how popular, much loved and respected Patrick Husbands is in Fumbles constituency?

  7. Bizzy and Bjorn was locked in a ‘bidding battle’ with certain operatives to secure for themselves the precious ‘Sir’ title. Bjorn apparently got the better of Bizzy, it just came down to dollars and cents man.

  8. ………………………but Fumble trick them and went for votes. You just gotta love Fumble, he does mess up everything and everyone, even fellas in his own Cabinet who try their vest best to engineer a result or outcome in a particular direction.

  9. Fumbles will soon outfox his own self……..you just wait and observe.

I think BU is fine as it is. I believe he is suggesting the news thing because he is not only a graphics artist but designs and create web pages, design layouts for big name magazines for the organisation’s myriad of clients, and is chief editor and input advisor for our news feature and business magazine. These are just some of the hats he wears. Did I mention that he is also a top animations specialist, but that he won’t do for me free? Trust me, the posters he has done so far are all basic compared to some of the work he does for the company. I would ask him if he would be interested in putting his thoughts into making BU better. However, I doubt very much that he will. At the moment he is wearing many hats, and press for time.

I just read the article and looked at the photos. I honestly think that the idiots we have in the form of a Prime Minister and Attorney General are either void of common sense or do not know when to capitalise on an opportunity when it presents itself. Here is a perfect and timely situation for these two circus clowns to show Barbadians that they are not all callous and cold. What did the jackasses do? Confirm to Barbados that they are heartless, cold and uncaring. I bet you that these idiots will find a nice convenient reason why they did not entertain this lady. I bet one of the reasons will be that if they had given her an audience, it could send a wrong message to other Barbadians that they could do the same also. What wisdom prevail in instructing security to follow enforcement protocols, when the plight of this lady has exposed the ugly of two political parties to where their true interest lies. Cynthia Forde should be shame is shite. I dislike this woman to a T. Absolute poser and fraud.

SSS…they are all frauds these politicians, though this woman has been suffering in pain through 3 decades of both administrations…ALL of them would think with their nasty minds that she should not get the money, though she is entitled, though most of it has to go for surgery, which might be already too late.., they prefer see her in a wheelchair or dead ……and she is one of their own….BUT…these nasty house niggas would pick up millions of taxpayers dollar and give it away to Clare Cowan, Bjerkham, Bizzy, Maloney and all the other crooks who have no entitlements nor are they deserving of free money.

That’s the nasty minds of the beasts.

Ex-Nurse Wilkinson is being treated just like the elderly gentleman who was fleeced by the Speaker.
Since that Fumble- himself permanently scarred and disabled by the curses of hypocrisy lies and ugliness- cannot tell the poor lady to get a lawyer all she has to do is to write and complain to the United Kingdom Disabled people’s Council (UKDPC) and ask them to petition for the boycott of all disabled people from visiting Barbados.
More so, she should ask the same UKDPC to lobby the UK travel industry to have Barbados ‘blacklisted’ as a destination where the disabled are abused and their rights to justice and equal opportunities openly denied by the Government of that country.

After the negative repercussions you would see how fast the Minister of Tourism and the same emotionally disabled PM and AG would get in on the act in a jiffy and make sure the ex-nurse gets her much deserved compensation just has fast as they did a whip-around to bail out the crooked Speaker from breaching the High Court order.

Bang on Miller…it’s only Bajans believe that nothing can be done with the heartless beasts for government ministers and the way they treat their own people on the island…..but something can be done about them in the international arena and someone should contact this lady and let her expose what is being done to her….she has a right to treatment to ease her pain and suffering, the government and their agents are violating her basic human rights as they take such sadistic pleasure in doing to others who are injured when they refuse to pay them compensation…..it’s like an epidemic with government and the insurance companies and they have been practicing this nastiness for decades…they dont care if it’s a genuine claim, they refuse to pay particularly if the claim is genuine.

Those 2 governments need a real wakeup call…and they will get one, they need something worse than blacklisting.

  30. Well Well & Consequences Avatar

Miller…would you believe that pimp Alvin is on the first link talking so much rubbish about this woman’s unfortunate run in with the wild animals in government. Do you believe that Alvin lives in a country that respects the, injured, disabled and people with disabilities…do you believe Alvin does not want to see this woman get her compensation, but he could never make such asinine and backward statements against any disabled person in Canada, he would be afraid…Alvin reserves all his nastiness and discrimination for his own people living in Barbados.

Do you know there are many other injured people with claims that this solictor general’s office refuses to sign their cheques so they could get their treatment.

Do you believe the insurance companies on the island do the same wicked things as the givernment….to injured and disabled people, they refuse to pay them compensation, refuse to pay them so they can get treatment….this needs international exposure.

  31. Well Well & Consequences Avatar

All these beasts for government ministers know to do is ROB their own people to enrich the crooked minorities and discriminate against the taxpayers….they do not adequately take care of their own people, look for every opportunity to violate their rights and disenfranchise them…..there are international laws against these dirty practices.

There are many things contributors can do to spread the word if they feel passionate about the message. As PUDRYR suggested they can create anonymous email addresses and share with contacts. They can sponsor Facebook ads, they can post BU links to the Nation, Barbados Today and other online fora to support comment. Do you know some right here on BU – who post voluminously – manage websites and feel more comfortable posting links to the traditional media website therefore promoting those sites and NOT social media sites like BU. And they are those who wrapped themselves in the cloth of all that is good but there motives for posting are very clear to BU.

  33. Well Well & Consequences Avatar

Anyone with intelligence should know, those who live in Barbados and have to deal with the system in it’s current useless to the people state, that if positive and meaningful changes are made throughout the system, that those changes would not only benefit those people now being negatively affected….but the existing people, their children and grandchildren, who will more than likely experience the same nasty treatment…..if nothing is done, everyone will either benefit with changes or suffer the consequences without…it’s up to the people, they cannot complain if and when they too fall victim to nasty practices by governments and insurance companies.

If all these nasty violation of human rights practices are not exposed internationally for those who have the power to push for change….the blogs will have issues to discuss for hundreds of years going forward….lol

There is a lot similarity between Greenverbs Parris and Maloney.
Both are seen by Lord Fumble as “estimable” businessmen of the highest integrity and admired as ‘entrepreneurs’ who have made great contributions to the economic development of the country and are justified in seeing the laws of the country as red tape to be removed by whichever means.

Both have their loyally ‘bought’ friends within the bosom of DLP as a result of heavy campaign contributions and personal gifts to a few high-ranking henchmen.

As a result, neither pariah can be touched by the law enforcement agencies just like the importers of the tainted chicken wings condemned in the UK as not even fit for feeding to hyenas or African wild dogs on a 3 day chase.

One is left to wonder what has become of the motto: “Pride & Industry”.

  37. @ David you should have a BU advertising Campaign for a week. Write a paragraph stating what BU is, what it does and welcome their participation by reading and contributing. Ask readers and contributors to share tagging 49 different friends each time they that post. We can send it around Barbados in no time. Aslo write please share when they post it.

The position of the BU household is simple, if members of the BU family feel passionate about BU’s role as a medium then they need to step up and promote the site. We all have skin in the ‘game’.

The posters have given BU some serious promotion. I am trying to get one or two animations but so far unsuccessful. My colleague said, a one page news letter highlighting the major topics is what he was referring too, not of the magnitude of Barbados TOday, which is too much. So I misunderstood him.

@ David June 24, at 2:10 AM . e ” if members of the BU family feel passionate about BU’s role as a medium then they need to step up and promote the site.”

Your blog site is like all things that grow and develop in the business world. And surely as CEO you would have made a decision on how you want your product to evolve and as obviously you are walking that path.

But along come others who may want your operations to grow. In the business world they bring investment of $$ or talent and if you share that vision then a partnership for change is formed…otherwise they accept your offer to stay as you are, serving your client base.

Undoubtedly, BU could use this blog as the topical driving medium for a well organized new digital newsletter, that also aggregates some news in a complete digital exposure. But that takes even more time than this and surely would only be viable, or should only be viable rather, if based on an income stream from advertising.

Nothing earth shattering as you know, in fact its a model replicated across the net.

So it’s all down to what you and your team want to achieve for their next eight year tenure.

  41. @Dee Word

Feel free to share your ideas offline. There is an opportunity to move to a different level but is requires resources finance, time, HR etc. We can self fund, crowd fund etc. The BU household is open to ideas. We have been doing a job but perhaps the time is now to shift gears. It is time also for others to register websites and share views.

Bear in mind it is advertising that makes the traditional website popular along with the fact they don’t cover the ‘underground new’.

The blogmaster invites you to join the discussion.
