Trinidad based Afra Raymond continues to be the strident voice in the region asking for transparency concerning the bailout of CL Financial the parent of CLICO Holdings Limited and several other subsidiaries. Listen to Afra Raymond being interviewed by Rennie Bishop on 107.7FM on Sunday 12, June 2016 after the intervention of Lawrence Duprey, and the Auditor General’s 2015 report.

It looks as though it’s only government ministers in Barbados have no respect for their auditor general’s report, the DPP has no respect fir the judges, the insurance companies and business people have no respect for the authorities or the courts….none of the business people have any respect for the leaders of government, starting with the prime minister….how did all of these parasites reach this place where none of them have respect for the very people, the taxpayers who pays them a salary, or have no respect for the institutions.

That is a question the leaders should ask themselves.

  2. Unless we get new prisons built, with accommodations suitable for successful businessmen, no judge or magistrate is likely to jail a banker, an insurance or real estate executive, or a politician. We need your, David Cameron.

CLICO/HCU Corruption: fry some “big fish” and concentrate on the punishment of elite corrupt officials

A critical period for T&T is approaching: will the govt and the nation allow the COLMAN CLICO/HCU findings to be covered up and hidden away with no action taken, or will there be a new dawn in T&T where the govt of the day and the people act against those who almost brought down the financial system of this nation and caused us to shell out more than $25 billion, still unpaid. Even worse, there is a new set of corruption arising from that $25 billion bailout since no one knows the exact amount (stunning!) and no one knows who, where, when, how that money was spent. We, the people, must demand full disclosure, publishing the COLMAN report, and prompt action taken. While many are focusing on the money etc, two major components of this scandal must be penalties for those who betrayed the trust of the people, AND measures implemented to ensure this never happens again.  It is a fact that many high-ranking members of all political parties are implicated; also, many financiers and supporters of these parties are involved. Thus, it will not surprise anyone if this report is buried away with the usual "investigations are continuing" and these crooks get away and are free to commit the same or even worse crimes. Will you allow this?

Here’s how other countries are tackling corruption, let’s do some of this:

He recommended the approach proposed by a Harvard professor, the essence of which is: to demonstrate the effectiveness of the reforms, the authorities need to fry some “big fish” and concentrate on the punishment of elite corrupt officials.

“It looks as though it’s only government ministers in Barbados have no respect for their auditor general’s report, the DPP has no respect fir the judges, the insurance companies and business people have no respect for the authorities or the courts..”

You see what the poet (calypsonian) Adonijah means when he sings about “Two Barbadoes”?

Here it is Bajans just a few months ago wanted to ‘tar-and-feather’ a schoolgirl for refusing to pick up a sweetie wrapper that she vehemently argued she did not drop and where there is no evidence to refute her claim. He was brutally condemned for refusing to obey instructions from those in authority.
Yet we have a much greater show of blatant disrespect by those whom the Constitution of Barbados give full authority and a great measure of independence and protection from political manipulation in the exercise of their duties.

Nota word from the BU disciplinarians like Bushie and the politician’s ass-lickers like the absolute cretin ac and Alvin the abject clown.

Are the calypsonians going to make fun at the big-up displayers of disrespect and disobedience as they have mockingly done with the former Springer Memorial, the acorn of a Bajan Rosa Parks publicly nipped in the bud by public humiliation.

“You must never be fearful about what you are doing when it is right.”

  6. @ David
For all your talk, you are yet to highlight the DIRECTORS of CLICO ..who all had a fiduciary responsibility to safeguard the interests of that company and of policy holders.
We all hear about the semi-literate idiot Parris, and of the thieving lawyer Thompson, but was it not the ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITY of these Board members to protect the organisation from these idiots and thieves?

One gets the impression that there are too many bigshots involved even for BU to expose them …and to question the role played by EACH AND EVERY one, in the CLICO mess.

    For example.
    Some of them resigned.
What did they know? What actions did they take to protect policy holders? Did they alert authorities? What were their responsibilities?

    Some stayed.
What roles did they play? What did they know? Were they complicit?

Some were given land and houses.
    Why?

    Lotta shiite!!!

  7. What is more interesting about the T&T situation is the fact there is Integrity Legislation in place yet they continue struggle with the same issues we see here.

Miller…not only are we watching the blatant hypocrisy being displayed by government, authorities and the schools, but so are the same 14 year old students…amd one day these same hypocritical adults will have to face these same students, who will then be adults….full circle.

Bushman…I thought those former directors of Clico got to answer a 128 million dollar lawsuit for negligence in the Clico thefts, of course all those lawyers and QCs who were directors should be in prison…but I have not heard if the civil suit is being adjudicated.

Yes Mr Blogmaster the info was published here…As I recall though at the time finding the names and images together was surprisingly not as easy as expected.

In fact now that I reflect on that I am surprised that it was as ‘complicated’ as it appeared to be.

Anyhow I noticed that BIPA has an archived webpage with details. http://www.thebipa.net/page/3/

There are newspaper details that provide the info: “…The high profile persons served were former Executive Chairman of CLICO Holdings (Barbados), Leroy Parris, and his Trinidad counterpart Lawrence Duprey, represented by Hal Gollop, …

“QC; Leslie Haynes, Woodbine Davis, Anthony Ellis and Basil Springer, CLICO directors, represented by Elliott Mottlley, QC, …

“and David Griffith, former Accountant-General and a director, whose counsel is Vernon Smith, QC.”

Add also from the newspapers, other directors : Terrence Thornhill, Elridge Thompson, Adrian Lorde, Edrick Griffith and Vishnu Ramlogan:

I can only assume that Edrick Griffith and David Griffith are likely the same person, maybe David Edrick Griffith.

  11. Thank you for that research Dribbler…..

    @ David
Given the level of shiite that has hit the big fan, …and the quantum of losses that will be incurred by thousands of innocent Bajans, nothing short of the constant and on-going exposure of each and every one of those persons who served as CLICO officers, directors, auditors and senior staff will suffice……
It needs to be even more visible and pervasive that the ‘Lawyers in the News’

We should be bombarded with those f’fers names, roles and their CURRENT scams….until this CLICO mess is resolved.

This should ALSO serve as notice to those other lackies who are currently sitting of various Boards, enjoying the perks, while watching shiite being inflicted on the shareholders and the public who are depending on them to safeguard their interests…

2 STUDENTS HAVE PASSED BOTH STEP 1 & STEP 2CS
1 OF THESE STUDENTS HAS ALSO PASSED STEP 2CK

IN 5 YEARS 13 STUDENTS HAVE PASSED STEP 1

THIS PREMIER MEDICAL EDUCATION AT AAIMS DEFINITELY TAKES TIME ah lie?

1 of the 5 students who started at AAIMS IN MAY 2011 LEFT AFTER THE FIRST TERM AND WENT TO ANOTHER SCHOOL IN ST VINCENT. HE HAS LONG SINCE PASSED
THE STEP EXAMS AND IS IN RESIDENCY. Reports are that he was by far the worse of these 5 students who started in May 2011.

None of the 6 students who started at AAIMS in January 2011 have passed anything. They have all left the premier education at AAIMS. i of these and 1 from the second class and MANY from subsequent classes have been seen at Medical Schools in Guyana.

This is the plain truth– IT CAN NOT BE REFUTED.

  19. @Miller,
From “Alvin the abject clown”. Over two years ago when I was pointing out the relationship between CL Financial and CLICO and the need to hold Duprey responsible, I was called as above. How come so many other names, are now being called, and the need for Lawrence Duprey to be looked at are NOW being brought to the forefront?

  20. @Alvin

Agree with you there is a relationship between the parent CL Financial and Clico Holdings. The challenge we have in Barbados is that we went a different route to T&T. They took a decision to bailout CL Financial. We are tied up with the Court having oversight.

GP…what kind of allergy is currently going around that benadryl gel caps are not working and the misery to ears, throat and nose is stupendous. I heard some people in the Caribbean are experiencing the same misery.

  22. Well Well & Consequences Avatar
    Well Well & Consequences

Alvin…ya still dont get it…Lawrence Duprey is in Miami and afraid to go back to Trinidad. Trinidad will deal with him…what you need to worry about is Leroy Parris’ role as chief thief in the missing money from Clico Barbados and the amount of time he should serve in prison for that theft of policyholder’s money. Why are you so worried for Duprey when he knows someone has more than likely assigned a bullet with his nam on ite, he said so himself.

What should bother you are the disgusting ministers and people like yourself who feels that the policyholders in Barbados lost all their money because they were greedy when in truth and in fact, their only crime was trusting those thieving, lying, con artist insurance executives like Leroy Parris and Clicos attorney David Thompson.

  23. Georgie Porgie Avatar

    wow!
AS YOU KNOW I LIVE IN FL AND I AM NOT PRACTICING SO I AM SEEING ANY OF THESE CASES. NOR HAVE I YET HEARD ABOUT THIS EPIDEMIC

As you might know Benadryl -Diphenhydramine is a first-generation antihistamine mainly used to treat allergies, inter alia. Newer and more effective antihistamines are now available.

Perhaps we are dealing with something much more sinister than just an allergy. It might be a viral or bacterial illness that is affecting the inner ear and the throat via the Eustachian tube, with a severe inflammatory response.

Perhaps we need to culture ear nose and throat swabs and adjust the therapy to suit.

IN ADDITION YOU CAN GET THE SARDINE TOT RETRIEVER AKA THE ILLITERATE DRIBBLER TO GO ONLINE AND GET THE DIAGNOSIS FROM A MOCK DR/ANOTHER DR
