Governance

RESIDENT BARBADIANS will be found guilty of treason by future generations, for their failure to protect the legacy entrusted by our ancestors on their behalf. We must respectfully speak up and speak out and not just be humble while grumbling. Who will lead the people? Neither Clement Payne or General Bussa will be returning.

After listening to the recent no-confidence motion, I am compelled to share my observations for our governance is in deep trouble.

The parliamentary debates seem like one live free comedy show. They are exercises in lame oratorical prowess. Some contributions  lacked substance. Bajans are perceived as not analytical by elected officials.

It would appear the Barbados Labour Party (BLP) is being accused of wrongfully accusing the Democratic Labour Party (DLP). BLP and DLP are not fundamentally different as labour parties. Sometimes the behaviour seems like a wild bunch in a saloon.

Citizens are well informed by the DLP thanks to excellent public relations. Theatrics seems to be the order of the country’s affairs.

Freundel Stuart is the best Prime Minister Barbados has ever had and Cahill waste-to- energy project is the best thing since sliced bread, the DLP would have us believe. Never will we see the office of a contractor general created in Barbados.

Taking gifts or receiving things from benefactors in kind is good governance. Integrity legislation is not necessary in Barbados. National community recycling is being totally ignored for some covert reason.

DLP justifies Cahill by the BLP white elephant at Greenland. A freedom of information act is not needed for Bajans need not know.

All persons seeking elective office should be tested for their propensity to read. Most elected members of Parliament appear not widely read in world affairs.

The poor governance blame game continues where the DLP justifies poor governance by highlighting poor governance of past BLP administrations.

Harold Blackman was a true political maverick who put country before party. No political mavericks exist in the DLP, only a humbled Eager 11.

Barbados will never see asset disclosure of politicians under the DLP or BLP.

Finally, Barbados is on a trajectory when the politicians will not be seen as trustworthy or men of honour. A new way must be found.

A better version of Peter Harris is needed to get rid of all the blighted curses posing as DBLP politicians.

  3. @enuff

How are we to respond to your pithy comment? lol

Is this where you write that Barbadians need to engage and participate more in the political organs?

  4. @Enuff, we expect to see you get a service award for your blind partisanship. Did you fall and hit your head thus making it difficult to discern right from wrong.
You epitomize the citizen who put party before country for your own selfish reason.

Thank you David. We await the partisan yardfowl and yardducks to defend their political parties.

  6. Nothing to defend with such an unintellectual and personal bit of BaJan comedy..

  7. The idea of a WTE was formulated on a suggestion going as far back as 2005 which the PM made reference in his reply to the no confidence proposal

  8. This is what irritates me about political yard-fowl jackasses.

Essentially, the jackass yard-fowls are suggesting the DLP cannot be blamed for the CAHILL scam, since “the idea of a WTE was formulated on a suggestion going as far back as 2005,” hence, Barbadians must blame the BLP.

Rather than apologize to those environmental activists, special interest groups and concerned citizens who presented informed arguments about the CAHILL scam, and BU for providing the forum for these groups highlight those arguments, the DLP yard-fowls now want to lay the blame of this piss poor DLP administration’s decision on the WTE plant on the BLP.

It was not the BLP who entered into agreement with Cowan and CAHILL, unless of course you can present to BU, any supporting documentation to substantiate your or this piss poor prime minister’s claim.

Based on the senseless shiite you consistently spew on BU,I believe you should be banned from this forum for life.

@AS, we know that fact as Dr Jerome.Walcott did not support the initiative as Minister Of Health thus the idea was shelve. However, the Greenland Dump idea was not so fortunate thanks to the stubbornness of Liz Thompson.

  10. “The Government of Barbados would have to be absolutely mad to move ahead on an option where there is global evidence that there are flaws with the technology. So I assure the public, the Government ain’t going nowhere with that option – it can’t do it. Not after the fact that so many Barbadians made their voices heard and told their Government be cautious . . .”. [Denis Lowe]

    @ Kammie Holder

The fact that Lowe conceded, despite the obvious political spin, you and other special interest groups must be congratulated for keeping the “flag of the CAHILL ship flying” in the face of criticism to the point of being called treasonous, causing this arrogant DLP administration to rethink the WTE issue.

Special congratulations must also be extended to David and BU for proving the forum for you to express your opinions.

Kammie, let me assure you that democracy is alive and well in this Barbados. Just because things appear bad does not mean that consciously and unconsciously that we are not looking for solutions. Never believe that your ideas are the only right ideas. You have to convince the rest of us, the majority, that these strategies are acceptable. That will take time,. And we have two years for you to convince us. Understanding that times have changed , that people and their desires have changed and that conventional solutions are ineffective, take time. Relax and continue to analyse, objectively, current issues.

  12. And what irritates is the political ticks with there own agendas which gives sufficient reason and cause to conclude that there would never be any bipartisan effort on any proposal or projects to move barbados forward.
My intial response when i heard the PM made reference to a concept of WTE going as far back as 2005 that if the political moorings of outside influence was not attached this project could have been one or few from which could have been borne out of bipartisanship absence of innuedo and political rhetoric.

  13. The PM’s reference to plasma gasification was irrelevant and did not address transparency issues raised about the project and his sotto voce admission that he signed the agreement months before presented to Cabinet.

“The PM’s reference to plasma gasification was irrelevant and did not address transparency issues raised about the project and his sotto voce admission that he signed the agreement months before presented to Cabinet.”

    Exactly!!!!
    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

If the ACs TRULY BELIEVED that there were “sufficient reason and cause to conclude that there would be BIPARTISAN EFFORTS on any PROPOSAL or PROJECTS to move Barbados forward,” then surely they would have advocated for this DLP administration to take a bipartisan approach relative to CAHILL, especially taking into consideration the amount of information special interest groups and the opposition presented in public forums or on social media, which was enough to encourage the DEMS to work with these groups.

Instead, the ACs used “innuendo and political rhetoric” to described all those contributors who were not in favour of the WTE plant and CAHILL, accused them of being UNPATRIOTIC or MEMBERS of the BLP, and deemed the information presented as fraudulent and signatures not authentic.

By your contributions on the CAHILL issue, surely we must conclude that you are a “political ticks with your own agenda.”

Once again the yard-fowls are engaging in futile attempts at damage control.

  16. We believe this contributor is a well meaning Bajan.

We use to think that 300ppm of green house gasses was an Armageddon.

Today, we see that we are about to pass the 400ppm point.

And there is no global emergency.

We are hurdling to a real armageddon.

    As we desire to be.

  17. The PM rebuttal also pinpointed the solicited desire of Mia putting self interest above country interest courting the politics of disaster with out evedience to support cushioned on a meanspirited and callous approach that engulfs her soul which undermine goals those goals which she was part of initiating under the blp administration but now finding a good use through the pathway of abandonment solely for the sake of political opportunity and creating mischief

  18. Listen gastification was as much relevant to the issue as the PM in his rebuttal was able to define the reasons and reasoning for such a plant going as far back as 2005 under the blp administration who laid out proposals for having WTE as a formidable solution to high energy cost and waste
This idea is nothing new to barbados proposals except that Mia Mottley used a calculated method of derailment.

  23. The mere fact that my comment elicited responses such as yardfowl and partisan, proves my point and justifies my refusal to jump on the cut and paste analysis bandwagon.

  24. A very good contribution. It seems as if the way of refuting the ideas of a contribution is to generate a discussion on correct/incorrect grammar or attempt to minimize the strength of the ideas by use of words like “cut and paste”.

I would like to see these apologist put up a counter argument or shut up.

When you defend wrong you can only show up all that is wrong with you. The cunt that is the AC defends wrong strong and believe that the DLP is doing nothing that is wrong. It is the same belief that the DLP holds too as well. How, therefore, can you convince a Piss Poor Party that they are doing shite when they think everything they do is right.
