50thAs part of the 50th Anniversary celebration the following letter will be mailed to Barbadian households. On the face of it there is nothing wrong with the Prime Minister communicating with his people about what it should mean to attain Golden Jubilee status (50 years of Independence). The question Prime Minister why not communicate with the same vigour about other matters of public interest.  This is the reason many are disappointed and have labelled you as just another politician who has seen an opportunity to pursue political self interest.  Almost 8 years in office and how many press conferences have you held? How many Q&A briefings after Cabinet meetings?

Retribution-things that make me go hum!

A regular caller called into Brasstacks sometime ago and queried why the public/Government don’t offer more support; such as security etc. to past PM’s and Ministers’s – This is one PM that does NOT deserve to be mentioned as a past PM of Barbados – NO RESPECT. You get what you give. All HIGH things MUST come down.

Send the letters to who voted you in!!

  2. @ac
    This government may govern
But don’t forget .. People rule.

  3. This DLP government is so thin skinned, selfish and ignorant that it would be beneath them to include any BLP or independants in their plans for this 50th celebrations.

They see this as DLP thing, plain and simple. They see this as a way to calling a snap election right after the goody, goody feelings after the celebrations. So the morons had no intention of including anyone else but I guess the poll results from the weekend has catspraddled whatever snap election plans they had. Fumble prides himself in the fact that he believes no man can read him.

They must be concerned with the poll. It was not conducted by Peter Wickham so the usual sabouteurs are seemingly silent…………..oh never mind, Kellman has spoken…..once it is nothing to do with his ministry, he has an opinion on it!

  5. Dear Mr PM,

I received you letter while my dog was shitting

You are on the ball.George Pilgrim came out not defending but acknowledging that the poll is a wake up call and that is a departure from the usual dismissive rhetoric we have become accustomed to hearing. It would be interesting to know who sponsored it.

You better hold onto that piece of paper, cause if this government is given another term that is what the Bajan dollar is going to look like.

  8. The members and supporters of this DLP administration are doing all they can to bring down the government themselves.

We have a situation in Barbados where several Transport Board buses REMAIN PARKED at the Weymouth Depot because the Board has been UNABLE to LICENSE and INSURE those units.

During his last budget presentation, Sinckler announced that EFFECTIVE January 2016, the VAT threshold would be increased from $80,000 to $200,000 per annum. As at today, Wednesday, February 24, 2016, the government has not taken the necessary legislation to parliament to be DEBATED and RATIFIED. As a result, businesses that fall UNDER the threshold must continue to collect and file VAT returns.

Under these and other circumstances, Barbadians are being “patient and indeed giving (this administration) enough rope to hang (itself).”

  9. The next Cahill-style disaster is around the corner, maybe BEFORE next elections. Mark my words!

“We have a situation in Barbados where several Transport Board buses REMAIN PARKED at the Weymouth Depot because the Board has been UNABLE to LICENSE and INSURE those units.”

Art..why is the government unable to license and insure these buses, hope is not a matter of having no money, since they have millions of the taxpayers dollars to waste on independence celebrations and they refuse to raise bus fares, which would help make up the short fall…and with their usual political poison of buying votes using taxpayers dollars and compromising taxpayer funded entities, they also refuse to make the school kids pay at least 50 cents for the daily bus service, which would also make up that shortfall…..so why are they unable to license and insure the buses…bunch of political idiots.

  11. LOL @ Well Well
“…hope is not a matter of having no money…”
    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Bushie can just imagine such a bunch of idiots ….’having no money’ for their left hand to pay their right hand for licenses.
However a fellow who does not grasp the difference between .07 and 0.7 very likely would insist that the Transport Board physically pay the license fee with cheques drawn from the Consolidated Fund into the Licensing Authority ….to be deposited into the Consolidated fund….

These are the kind of people who withdraw their bank savings every month and count it to make sure all is well…before redepositing the money.

Lol…..if those are whom the electorate consistently choose to represent their interests, maybe that is what thry deserve, they are getting what they paid for…….Bushman.

It’s interesting to note that despite the knowledge of the government that the insurance carrier for Transport Board buses CGI is the direct cause of the massive liabilty on that taxpayer owned entity, the government absolutely refuses to do anything about and this is also despite CGI being given their contract of destruction by the previous government and despite CGIs owner Peter Harris being close friend and confidante of the opposition leader Mia Mottley….now just imagine what will happen in 2018 when, as people are predicting, Mottley takes control of the government. ….what is the inaction of the present government in relation to saving the transportation sector managed by government telling us, especially with Michael Lashley currently at the helm which would put him in direct contact with Harris…..a paradise of corruption.

  13. @Well Well, come on, get SERIOUS. ” CGIs owner Peter Harris being close friend and confidante of the opposition leader Mia Mottley” So is that to suggest that he was not a close friend and confidante of deceased DLP power brokers and surely remains close and confident to those still alive.

The Harris’ of the world are not interested in THE personality they are interested in those who control the power…wherever and whatever party they call home.

That’s as plain as day. Linking Harris or Bizzy to one party is irrelevant, of course.

  14. Well Well & Consequences Avatar
    Well Well & Consequences

De Word…how could it be irrelevant. ….they are not linked to one party, but to both political parties and are both corruptors of the island and enabled by corrupt politicians of both parties, hence the reason we are all, including yourself, on here discussing the corruption that has effectively destroyed most everything that is good about the island, reducing it to laughingstock status….so enlighten me De Word, how is none of these relationships relevant to the brutal truth.

It is as plain as day that you dont see the significance of the damage those corrupt relations have caused…so justify them for me so I can see the positives.

  15. It beats me why the Government has no money to pay for the insurance and licensing of the Transport Board buses. The term “Money for old Rope”, aptly apply to what the Government is doing to vehicle owners in this country. They collect scores of millions of dollars from motorists, via road tax, driving licenses, over-inflated costs of petrol and diesel, VAT on insurance and replacement parts and servicing. And what do we get back? Sweet FA, but potholed roads which wreck our tyres, brakes and suspension parts ,on which we must pay VAT,and dark highways, as government is unable to replace street lights.

  16. The cost of all the paper used for this useless letter that people threw into the garbage could have insured a few buses very well!

Priorities……..his government does not know anyhting about priorites……maybe only anything to do with lining their pockets and the few whites who allegedly have them in their pockets!

  17. Minister Kellman’s quick and arrogant dismissal of the recent Poll results, tells us what Kellman and his government think of Barbadians. Like the poor,as Jesus lamented, this administration believes that the people of Barbados will always be there for them.

  18. @Well Well & Consequences February 25 at 8:34 AM… your speed reading and multitasking blog posts definitely affected your comprehension re my earlier post.

I said that “The Harris’ of the world are not interested in THE personality they are interested in those who control the power…wherever and whatever party they call home.” And concluded that “Linking Harris or Bizzy to one party is irrelevant,.,”

Reread leisurely and reflect that my remarks and YOUR “both political parties … are both corruptors of the island and enabled by corrupt politicians of both parties” are saying the same thing.

Harris or Bizzy or Parris or whomever entreats the power-broker…thus it is IRRELEVANT what is the name of that broker or which party.

No disrespect or illegal imputation intended with this remark but to reinforce the point. If Bostic or Hinkson was in charge in Roebuck St then they would be the one courted with the money and favors… if Jones or whomever on the other side same thing.

You write too much. Stop and read leisurely sometimes!

  20. Alex Macdonald on television lying again where is the proof that OECS workers are more productive than local workers. The unemployment rate in the OECS averages 25%. Grenada is as high as forty percent. Barbados unemployment rate is around 11% that static helps to debunk Macdonald’s nonsense. “Minister Kellman’s quick and arrogant dismissal of the recent Poll results, tells us what Kellman and his government think of Barbadians.”

If you were to read Kellman’s comments relative to National Housing Corporation’s debt of over half billion dollars, you would also give you another idea what he thinks about Barbadians.

In the Sunday, February 14, 2016 edition of the Sunday Sun, the minister is reported as having said: “You DO NOT have the BANK FACILITIES. You do not have the LOAN FACTOR [nor] SUBSIDIES coming from Government but yet the projects are being completed. They might not be completed at the pace that people would expect but it is one thing to think anything from a theoretical point of view but I have to be very practical,” he said, noting that progress was ATTRIBUTED to more EFFICIENT MANAGEMENT.

The new report went on to state that Kellman said the DEBT WAS NOT CREATED by the CURRENT BOARD.

Kellman says he is an accountant, but even a 17 year old who has done CXC basic accounting would know that, if the NHC gave away units free of cost, thereby reducing income by significant amounts, and in the absence of bank facilities, loans or subsidies, the corporation would OWE suppliers for materials if it completed the projects or OWE third party contractors for constructing the projects. In other words, under both circumstances, the NHC completed these projects “on credit.”

Mr. Kellman should tell Barbadians how was the over $40 million the NHC received in monthly advances WITHOUT PARLIAMENTARY APPROVAL, was disbursed.

He should also account for the $87,945,336.13, which, according to items 2.40 and 2.41 on page 26 of the Auditor General’s Report 2014:

“There were a number of advances for the financial year for which THERE WAS NO EVIDENCE that they were made from any capital appropriation.”

“There was no EVIDENCE that these ADVANCES were VOTED by Parliament. It should also be noted that these entities are wholly owned by the Crown and HAVE LITTLE OR NO MEANS OF GENERATING INCOME TO REPAY THESE ADVANCES.”

Is this what you call efficient management, Mr. Kellman?

  28. Wunnah see wuh I tell wunnuh? The ac consortium is nuff, nuff idiots, hear.

If BU’s CAHILL INFORMATION is FRAUDULENT, then “those who might have ACCESS and PARTICIPATED in such FRAUDULENT ACTIVITY” would not have ANY REASON to FEAR David being a “snitch” and suggest that “he can no longer trusted.”

As such, common sense would suggest that if the “participants” believe David is indeed a snitch and can no longer be trusted, it obviously means the information they gave him HAS to be AUTHENTIC, and they may be experiencing some anxiety because he RIGHTFULLY exposed the documents for Barbadians to read.

Additionally, no one from this DLP administration (well….. except the ACs) has gone to the media or any other forum to refute CAHILL allegations or presented any proof to substantiate that the CAHILL documents are fraudulent.

HENCE, UNDER THESE CIRCUMSTANCES, WE CAN CONCLUDE THAT ALL INFORMATION PRESENTED TO BU PERTAINING TO CAHILL IS AUTHENTIC.

  29. No comments, no progress on the project, no investors, no construction in sept as promised by Cahill,no EIA submission or publuc notices, no communication, and WHY???????
Because all the proof of the scam published by BU is correct and true.
Face it AC/ac you’re handlers have misrepresented everything related to this Cahill monstrosity and you the mouthpieces of the lame duck ministers have been duped also.

  30. David et al

This week on Brasstacks someone keeps calling in and saying that a company is about to fold due to debts of 50m thereby creating more unemployment……..does anyone know about this?

  31. I hope you all appreciate how caring this govt is….The MoH has found land for squatters at $5.00 a square ft,this is a great help……just a minor matter of qualifying.

  32. And the same dismissive Minister of Housing is about to purchase land in the Church Village area to establish yet another White Elephant, like those at the Grotto, Coverley etc etc. I would advise the squatters in the Belle and elsewhere to move onto the lands at Church Village as soon as Kellman purchases it. A precedent has already been set pertaining to squatting in Church Village. Leroy Parris has some $5Million of poor Bajans money squatting in the vaults of the Central Bank.
Who owns the land around Church Village which is being offered to Kellman? Indian, Dlp-ite or Bizzy?

  33. Well Well & Consequences Avatar
    Well Well & Consequences

Since Leroy Parris has finally been seen by the high court as using fraudulent means to steal policyholders money and bank it in various commercial banks and the central bank…..will the DPP and police now get an arrest warrant for that thief and arrest him for theft and fraud, they can only file so many appeal documents, until the court says….no more, give the Clico judicial managers the money for the policyholders and lock Parris the hell up.

  35. I want to be fair to Senator Watson. Barbados Today is well known for taking a comment and completely turning it around to mean something else. I think they must have after-hours sessions when they take turns to find a twist. I would never make a statement of any kind to that publication, and even though Senator Watson was a little naïve in his comments, I do not believe that he is “All for WTE in the form of plasma gasification for Barbados”, or words to that effect.

  36. What has he looked at ???? A desktop study??? There is no other plasma gasification plant this size any where in the world that is operational NONE!!!!!!!!!
He is right about a few things 1.there isn’t enough garbage to feed the beast.
    2. The substantial maintenance will be enormously expensive as it won’t work
Clearly he hasn’t been watching AIR products Tv1 TV2 in the UK…..
Plasma gasification at this scale is totally unproven … Arewe to be the guinea pig plant for alter NRG??? Who have stepped away from Cahill.
Clearly he has no clue about the use of plasma gasification at this scale
Other key questions are. why did he look at the Cahill project ?? And what did he look at???
There is not enough info for any meaningful review to take place.

    WW&C

Did you also note that, along with confirming the original order for holding the $4.5 million at Scotia Bank along with the $3.3 million that DT was primarily responsible for placing in LP’s coffers in the first place, that the Judge has removed DT’s estate from consideration for returning part of the 3.3 million, at least, to CIL.

I wonder how that will go down for LP?

Will we see a future headline where LP will ask for the DT estate to pay the funds which DT might be considered to have extracted from it? After all DT will have been asked to pay that amount twice if he loses the 3.3 M along with the fees already paid to DT.

Will he willingly bear the brunt of the judgement or will there be some other accomodation made?

Is there something more in the mortar here than the LP pestle?

Did the Nation report fully and accurately the various aspects of the judgements so far?

Also, could any other party, eg. the BLP, be expected to pursue the DT estate aspect of this matter in the court of public opinion on the basis that LP did not, on his own, cause the 3.3 million to magically move from CIL to LP’s now frozen account, with some attrition on the way, that somehow might have found its way into DT’s estate coffers and now seems to have been excluded from the calculations.

I suspect that the game is now afoot.

  38. are-we-there-yet Avatar

I forgot to add above that it seems to me that the opposition parties now have enough ammunition on this matter to keep the Government on the defensive until whenever elections are called and thereby consign the republican talk to the dustbin, if they are so disposed.

Are we there yet…very good questions indeed, I did not bother to mention it and like you will watch the outcome, one can also get a copy of Justice Gibson’s decision to read what the Nation Newspaper nelected to say on that Thompson Estate matter, since it’s now public record.

Don’t hold your breath on oppostion leader Mia doing or saying anything to rock the Leroy Parris boat re who will pay for what, seeing as she is god mother to Thompson’s kids, at least one or two of them and Mia, Harris, Parris are all be in bed together……they will be busy dancing around the whole issue with legalities.

I do believe they are all B & DLP extremely afraid of each other and just watching to see who will unleash first…lol

    ………………………………………………………………………………………
Having Engineering qualification in Barbados does not stop some of them from talking crap. Take the engineer ,who a few weeks ago advocated the banning of all American type toilets , because of its design, with a fallible flapper valve. He was taken to task by two hands-on technically qualified Plumbing Technicians, and quite rightly so.
Over the last week we heard Ministers Kellman and Lowe, severely criticising some of the best trucks to come out of the United States, just because their Government failed to carry out its due-diligence procedure when purchasing equipment, and subsequently neglecting to properly maintain same equipment.
