Subject: Waste from Energy

Dear Minister Inniss,

It was a pleasure to meet you this evening at the reception. I had my staff look into the Letter of Intent, and thus far it seems there was no RFP. I will continue to have them look into this matter. As well, at first blush, it seems the Barbados Government is paying far too much for the technology and the plant. This is just based on our (Forth State Energy) own projections. I am having our people look into this and I will report back to you.

I will also send to you a list of officials I spoke to while I was in Barbados.

Again, it was a pleasure to meet you this evening, and I look forward to speaking with you soon.

Think outside the Landfill.

Sincerely,

Steve

We all seemed to have given Donville Inniss a pass regarding any involvement in the Cahill Scam. He was not one of the 5 ministers who signed on the dotted line for the project. However at the Cabinet meeting in 2014, he was part of the unanimously decision that the plant should come into existence. The letter above is clear proof that prior to the stink raised last year in 2015, that Mr. Inniss had intimate knowledge regarding the Plasma Gasification Plant. He was able to take a letter of Intent presumably from Cahill Canada to a reception to discuss it with Mr. Mader.

It is significant to note the subject of Mr. Mader’s letter to Mr. Inniss, ‘Waste from Energy’ and that indeed speaks volumes. A look at the company website for Fourth State Energy shows that it boasts that it “can deliver a world without waste. A world where waste is transformed into energy.” Perhaps he was conveying that it was a nonsensical undertaking about to be undertaken by the Government of Barbados which incorporated growing king grass to burn garbage to produce energy.

This letter raises a few questions. Is it the standard business practice for government officials to conduct the people’s business after hours at receptions? What other business transactions has Mr. Inniss or his colleagues undertaken this way? Are there minutes of this meeting on record? Did he take the letter to Mr. Mader when he realized that he had not done the due diligence that the people of Barbados paid him to do?

I am not aware if this letter of Intent is the same as the MOU that is on BU and it makes me wonder when it was dated as well as whose signature it bore. The letter specifically states that the Letter of Intent was not an RFP. How did Mr. Inniss who in the pass claimed he had no knowledge of the Cahill scam happen to have the letter of Intent which I assume was the initial point of written contact?

It was also noted that Mr. Mader stated that the Government was paying too much for technology and plant. Perhaps this should be brought to the attention of Dennis Lowe who recently stated that the Cahill Gasification Plant will not cost the Government a cent.

I am hoping that diligence by BU will result in the follow up letter to the Minister

  1. All great posts on the no confidence in either party to govern . but as we debate the merits or lack there of are we allowing the Cahill monster slip in under the cover of darkness???

Even the most junior political strategist appreciates the value of deflection. Republic is a great tool. Since my guess is the Cahill folks don’t have the financial backing to pursue any legal avenues, albeit the jurisdiction is not Barbados, I will guess the entire thing will possibly fade away at some point.
The GOB had been negotiating for some time, for a WTE solution, but since no firm has been able to deliver, the matter is no longer under consideration.

  3. @northernobserver
Interesting take on the Cahill WTE situation.
I look at it differently the gob should be pursuing Cahill for misrepresentation .
I know they would have to stand in line with all the other duped people but they would gain a modicum of credibility here showing people they were themselves duped and misled by this fraudster.

  4. Even if Cahill fails, and it has, the country still has the problem to solve i.e. one of waste management.

Why waste time responding to Deflon?

Surely it must be a blatant display of stupidity to call Heather “petty, wicked and vindictive, yet by their own admission they “follow Heather Cole’s comments……”

But rather than using the pseudonym “Delfon” and joined with “a bunch of spineless, faceless people” to get personal with Heather Cole, he/she should have used their “real name” and rise to the occasion by offering alternatives. Hence, by their actions, they have essentially done what they accused others of doing.

This Deflon is definitely a character. If he/she is a BLP supporter why would pushing a BLP agenda upset him/her to the extent to call the party they allegedly supports “vultures” and make him/her not vote again?

The reality of the situation is this Deflon character is a supporter of the DLP, the comments: “but offer no alternative” and “….let us see all of the solutions that the BLP has for this island,” are indicative of this fact. And these are comments often made by Inniss himself (Deflon = Inniss???).

However, Deflon’s tirade is expected because the DEMS have an allergic reaction to criticism.

  6. @David
Don’t you think an official line needs to be drawn under the Cahill fraud before we can move on to a more definitive waste management plan
While it hangs in the air like the smell from mount stinkaroo any attempt to fix the problem will linger.

    @101
[assuming there is something enforceable] what if I buy Cahill? and proceed down the path of project advancement? Now I am backed by a huge corporation, implying can deliver, what next? Some slopes are more slippery than others.

For the GOB to attempt action against Cahill under the present conditions is a waste of money. Even if they win a case of misrepresentation, you cannot get blood from a stone. Plus it may expose that it was always a stone. Always best in potential risk exposure to keep mouths yet unopened closed.

  9. Regardless of who purchases the stone
The clock never stopped ticking officially. assuming infrastar is the new owner the waste analysis report triggers the timeline of 59months ?????? To completion???
We can’t wait that long for a viable solution.having already lost 2 years in wheel spinning with smoke and mirrors

Just give us one last go at kicking the real Teflon DLP yard-fowl up the butt for fun.

I am in most doubt that either Deflon or the P M himself is aware that the much regaled title of QC and that much distinguished “The Right Honourable” will have to be dropped the next day Barbados becomes a republic. For the Rt. Hon. FJS will no longer be a member of Her or HIS Majesty’s Privy Council.

That Muttley medal collecting PM will no longer be King Fumble from the House of Stuart in his fiefdom called Little England.
But then again a monkey is just an innocent ape pretending to be a primate inter pares.

My feelings remain the same. Ignore Cahill, and press on with matters to occupy the media and the people. Find an accounting loophole which can transform the public accounts to appear better than they otherwise might be, and press forward with the next election platform, knowing your current opposition appears in disarray.
They have large numbers which will vote B or D regardless of the outcome of any matter. That is ingrained in them like DNA. You only become interested in swaying those who are swayable, for they will decide the outcome.

  12. LOL @ Artax
Boss, when you read those submissions by Deflon … do you really need to see a name attached?
Surely it is a tactical error to so openly show the extent to which Heather’s writings are getting under Inniss’ skin…
If Bushies’ reading of Heather is right, then this will only increase the torment…. 🙂

The alternative is RECYCLING !!!!!! Helloooooo, ever thought of trying that on a large scale? HELLOOOOOOOOOOOOO?????????!!!!!!!!!!! Lord save us from these thieves!

  14. There are no kickbacks of any note in recycling….
Just good sense…. and as you know, the DLP got rid of all cents in Barbados…..

    Hahahahahahaha….. even “common sense,” Bushie?

  16. Well the world must be laughing at us for putting up with all this crap! We need someone’s help to Save Our Souls!

  17. @Artax

I’m glad for you that you can laugh hahahahahahaha. You must not live here or something. Barbados is in a seriously detrimental environment and it is not a joke.

    miller,

Did you hear Donville Innis at his branch meeting yesterday? He said the PM should be vetted like anyone else. Is Donville ready to make a move? Did he see a copy of the poll before it was made public?

I am waiting for them to implode.

  19. Can we afford to wait for them to implode in 2 years????
    As said before
The mountains of garbage are mounting and soon we will be overrun with 4 legged rats not the 2 legged ones in suits.

Donville Inniss is the most ignominious shite that thinks his camouflage cannot be seen. I mean these mouthings about republic, the PM having too much power, the senate being a wash basin for the party in power, will do nothing to get him the respect he is seeking so hard from bajans. If you want respect Inniss, you have to tell the truth. However, I think that would be a difficult undertaking for you because you and your administration are just a bunch of tell tale liars. You would do better to shut your ass up and keep silently disrespectful like 3- PM.
