This is my formal submission on these important proposals, which are intended to give protection to persons reporting wrongdoing in public or private bodies. Most fraud and white-collar crime is reported by ‘tips’, so the effective tool has to be ‘If you see something, say something’. We also need to push for more effective investigations and prosecutions, but first we need high-quality information.’
Though well meaning, in Barbados, the brave ones will be blowing the whistle to those who facilitate and protect the criminals, exposing themselves and their families to all types of real danger.
In that case it’s more prudent to expose the activities worldwide so that the known culprits are continually watched going forward.
Was about to comment, but WW&C stated it better than I could. However, I would have liked to see the phrases “blowing in the wind” and “blowing their own death knell”.
BU yearn for the day when the ordinary Bajan will have issues of governance and civics top of the mind.
