Document supplied compliments of Plantation Deeds

It is not the norm for the general public to get sight of how our political candidates allocate financial resources to support an election campaign. Caswell Franklyn has already asked some probing questions regarding Minister of Finance Chris Sinckler’s election declaration – Sinckler’s Honest Election Return. Here is the Prime Minister’s declaration with the compliments of Plantation Deeds.

David @ as you can see transparency legislation was use to lift the hopes of people who wanted truth, This government is a bigger lie than CLICO. This from our point will never happen , If by Magic it does , the People will be in the streets or home under protest .
We know that the records are missing or hidden to prove the true history of Barbados. Even the Police Fraud Squad seem to be under orders not to reveal what that have found in their four year investigation.2009 -2013 so far.
We met a lady yesterday , none Bajan , none voter, that said Her friend bought a house , and 4 years later still cant not get the DEED.The lawyer said ‘keep paying each month and we will deduct the rent money from the sale of the house”. Transparency legislation will only come with the removal of both DLP/BLP .
Things got so bad in the states some people said give Obama a chance . Give a 3rd Party a chance , for the 3rd party have nothing to do with the crimes, So they will show all, The books belong to the people not the Ministers.

You are labouring under a false premise. In this case, the politician does not monitor himself: that is the job of a career public servant – the Supervisor of Elections, who in this case fell way short.

    Carson

I am not like you, I do not depend on politicians to eat and pay my ever increasing bills. I ceased any party political activity since 2003. You would want to silence me because I am revealing some inconvenient truths. Here is one for you: I checked the the Return of Election Expenses that was published in the Nation on May 24, 2013 and it accords with the summary that is published above. I can say without fear of contradiction that the return file by or on behalf of the Prime Minister is a work of fiction. In other words, who ever filed the return made a false declaration. Now if I am such a fool sue me. If what I have stated unequivocally is untrue, there would be enough grounds to file a case of defamation against me. This is not someone using my name and I will never rely on that defence for something that I have written. As Jeff Broomes said, BRING IT ON, you idiot.

  4. Caswell

Why you don’t publish an article about one of the BLP candidates? If Sinckler and Stuart’s declarations are works of fictions then they can’t be the only ones. You cherry picking for political purposes. You not even trying to be impartial.

Why you don’t investigate what happen on Horse Hill, St.Joseph in Polling Day when the line to get into Dale Marshall’s constituency office was longer than those of any of the Polling Stations? You feel those people in that long-ass line in Horse Hill were waiting to give an early congratulations to Mr. Marshall OR was there some ‘incentive’ being doled out to those with cell phone picks of their ballots?

Admit it Caswell, you want fresh elections cause you ain’t like the result. Can anyone post a copy of the birth certificate for the half bajan, half guyanese child born at QEH which list Caswell as ‘Daddy’?

There are two such children. Birth certificates are public documents and should be available to anyone who pays the appropriate fee. You are at liberty to publish them: I am not ashamed of the origins of my children.

  6. Let me see what job CASWELL FRANKLYN was promised by the
    Barbados Labour Party,

Was it a seat in the Senate then make him ATTORNEY GENERAL from there, Nah, it cant be that he would have to be a REAL lawyer to be ATTORNEY GENERAL, not a POOH POOH lawyer.

What job can it be, it will come to me don’t worry.

  7. How many members of the DLP own plantations that are in grass? Heard some now in a matter of 6 years like Barney Lynch own plantations

  8. @CCC
Caswell Franklyn , according to him , does qualify to be Attorney general . He is on record on this very blog as having said you do not have to be an attorney at law to be Attorney General …

  10. Caswell Franklyn Avatar
    Caswell Franklyn

    Cuthbert

You expect me to know everything, the first time I knew anything about Marshall’s allegations was earlier today when I read about them on this thread. I only revealed the details of Sinckler’s return and that was because he was most offensive to me and I decided to give him some of his own business to mind.

  11. Wallace
What is your point in trying to hit Caswell under the belt when you know that given our history and culture you might be constrained to call your great great grandfather’s name with certainty.Idyut!

  12. Truly amazing. | August 28, 2013 at 5:29 PM

CASWELL FRANKLYN is light relief! Don’t take him too seriously.

  13. @ BAFBFP….what yah mean by dat bedroom statement? How dare you accuse a village man of being misled in de bedroom? Dat is where we does excel. On a serious note though, Dennis is well read and seems to know a little bit of everything. Do you not remember the many tussles he had with the anti American fellow? Great radio that was. Word has it that while the Barbados government contacted facebook pertaining to three posters the American Government called them about one bajan. You hear anyting bout dat? Now he doan call brasstacks atall atall.

  14. Carson…………when are you going to man up and admit that the DLP has fallen into a deep hole of their own creation, that should now be occupying your waking hours, some really bad news today, can you say with any guarantee or certainty that the news taxpayer will wake up to tomorrow will be any better. I don’t believe Caswell had a hand in any of the events and none of it is comic relief, what can the DLP do now to quiet the anxiety that has been caused by their actions or lack of actions. Forget trying to use Caswell as a distraction. Can you answer any of my questions??

  15. Given the way politics in Barbados is conducted one would have to search far and wide, and even then the challenge of finding an accurate filing would be very real. Perhaps the late Carl Haddock or some such person who from the very beginning had limited resources just might have. This goes nowhere and I suspect that David knows this.

  16. Why would the government want to get info on 3 Facebook posters earlier this year? This story has been carried by most of he regional wires. How stupid it makes Barbados appear. Was this a matter of national security?

  17. Cuthbert of England Avatar

    Caswell

The ain’t a forum for revenge. If you don’t like Sinckler them pen him a letter outlining your concerns and grievances and sent a copy to David to post BU.

  18. Cuthbert of England Avatar
    Cuthbert of England

……………..and if you want to make a real point of political governance then why don’t you get all the declarations from all 30 elected MP’s and show whose filing are reasonably accurate and whose filings a patently false.

  19. Next postings of declarations, OSA and MAM.

  20. HH, I seem to recall that a Hal Martin filed a true and accurate return that caused panic in the camps for a short while many post election seasons ago. Someone could correct me if I’m wrong.
But I also suspect this current matter will go nowhere. Not because it is not important but because the culture of both parties demands that the laws in this regard should be breached.
I wonder what would happen if 30 constituents brought actions against the 30 sitting MP’s though?. Perhaps Caswell and David are onto something good.

  21. “Next postings of declarations, OSA and MAM.”

Who cares what they filed or didn’t file?

  22. @ checkit-out I stand corrected but you get my point.

  23. Carson………..the taxpayers who pay their salaries and yours care, as they should, particular at this time.

  24. Look what this is all about:-

” I only revealed the details of Sinckler’s return and that was because he was most offensive to me………….”

This is a man scorned. This is nothing but CASWELL FRANKLYN’s hurt feelings being played out here. “Because he was offensive to me”, you are making me laugh CASWELL behaving like a little child!

You remind me of ADRIAN LOVERIDGE, ever since he was kicked off the BTA Board he has been at the Government’s Jugular.

  25. Carson…………….i would much prefer hear about all the sudden loss of salaries, farmers about to lose their business, etc. etc.

Adrian Loveridge fired from the BTA board because he used to behave like a hooligan in the meetings. That is a fact. He knew everything, no one else knew anything when compared to him. Sealy described him as a ‘Clown’ when he asked to Cabinet to fire him. That is a fact.

  29. After a reflection BU has decided not to post the documents promised because Plantation Deeds sent us the summary and not the Form 5 document. This means that commenters would not have gotten a breakout of the spend. The documents show MAM and OSA spending 60 thousand and 35 thousand respectively.

  30. No, we must assume politicians are liar and thieves until proven otherwise, without apology.

thanks pacha but can you or should I say we say without fear of contradiction we are not liars and thieves in some form or fashion.

  31. You remind me of ADRIAN LOVERIDGE, ever since he was kicked off the BTA Board he has been at the Government’s Jugular.

you seem to forget that to his credit Mr Loveridge was equally critical of the tourism policies of the blp when they held office.

    Balance

Adrian was given an opportunity to be part of Barbados Tourism ‘Solution’ when he was put on the BTA but he is not a problem solver. The Permenent Secretary there reported back to the Minister that Mr. Loveridge was disrespectful, rude and generally disruptive to orderly progress of board meetings.

  33. @Adrian

    Do not respond.

  34. HA! HA! ………………….. David………….”Do not respond”””””” ,……………..big brother at work……………..LOL

  35. I don’t care about the fictitious election declaration of any politician. Bajans should be questioning the municipal solid waste tax which unfairly burdens property owners and not all who produce waste.

I put out one bag of garbage a week but because I own my home I will pay $1130 solid waste tax next year. There are a number of residents of my area who are squatters and some who are tenants. They put out three or four bags a week. Their solid waste tax bill will be nothing.

What about those persons who own an open lot? How much waste is that lot producing? Why should a home owner pay the same rate as a commercial enterprise like a hotel? How is this tax going to affect agricultural operations which are usually cash strapped. Take the dairy farmers who are facing the loss of a market for their milk. A five acre farm can conservatively have a non improved value of $3million. Such land holding will have to pay $21000 in solid waste tax next year.

The hotels may have had a reduction in VAT but this is going to be offset by this solid waste tax. At least this cost can be passed on to the guests who do generate waste.

Can Barbadians who live on the coast where land values are $100 a square foot now afford to live there. I am referring to those many occupiers of small lots along the West Coast whose families have been living there for generations long before tourism was developed. A 1200 square foot lot could attract a solid waste tax of over $840 a year.

Minister Inniss has been reported as saying that there may be an error in the announcement of this tax. Today the newspaper is reporting that there was an error in the consolidation tax but nothing on the solid waste tax.

  36. I have made an error in my calculations for agricultural lots. A 5 acre ($5/ sq ft) lot may be valued at $1 million thus attracting a waste tax of $7000 per year.

  37. I believe there is some relief on land tax for pensioners. I have not read or heard that such relief will be applied in respect of the solid waste tax.

  38. @Ping Pong

You can be as sensible and articulate as you want this is an attempt to grab revenue wherever there is potential to do so. The practicality of collecting would have been a second thought. Yes not a logical comment but there is precedent.

  39. David
I expect to pay my FAIR share of taxes. Government needs money but the manner of applying taxes should not be inadvertently punitive or place a disproportionate burden on some citizens. In my inexpert opinion the Gov’t runs the risk of driving the cost of living up (landlords will have to pass the waste tax on to their tenants) and stymy business activity which will result in unemployment and less tax revenue. As a case in point, the VAT rate was increased and Gov’t collected LESS revenue. Someone needs to instruct the Ministry of Finance officials about the theory of the Laffer curve.

  40. Can someone please clarify the solid waste tax? Is it 0.7% or .07% of the value plus the existing land tax payable?

  41. @Ping Pong

With this issue and the topical one of the day (Facebook) it speaks to the quality of decision making as a function of strategic thinking by central government. This morning in the news we have Minister Boyce suggesting that all the QEH projects will be delivered as planned despite a deep budget cut. Do you believe the majority of Bajans are CONFIDENT this to be the case? We only have to look at St. John Polyclinic which was promised for earlier this year.

If we are unable to hit the budgeted targets whither the deficit and prospect for economic growth?

  42. It seems this solid waste tax is extortion. WHAT IS WRONG WITH WUNNA PEOPLES? THIS TAX WILL CRIPPLE US! If it was not properly thought out and announced by this MOT he needs to be FIRED! It is clear he knows NOTHING about FINANCE !

  43. Don’t we already pay an environmental levy? What is that for?

  44. @islandgal

Let us pray and hope the MoF comes to the public to issue a Budget part II to clarify the many matters which have been raised. We should bear in mind that the Municipal Tax he stated replaced the Greening Levy which targeted employees, the new tax targets land owners which is the concern which Ping Pong has been labouring.

  45. balance

“you seem to forget that to his credit Mr Loveridge was equally critical of the tourism policies of the blp when they held office.”

You seem “to forget that to his credit Mr. Loveridge was equally critical of the tourism policies of the blp when they held office” only after he was publicly humiliated by George Payne of the blp at a public tourism forum!!!!

Then ADRIAN started to launch into them, up until then everything was honky dory.

  46. For a long time government was talking about an act that would cause property owners to keep their land clear or failing to do such, can result in the government doing the job and putting the charges on the owners’ property tax bill. It is time this government stop talking about it and do the right thing, just do it.

  47. Islandgal246

I am, as I type, looking at a hardcopy of part of the Budget. The municipal tax is stated to be 0.7%.

  48. @Ping Pong

Minister Inniss has already come public that .7% is incorrect.

  49. Cuthbert of England

“……..that Mr. Loveridge was disrespectful, rude and generally disruptive to orderly progress of board meetings”

That is what a lot of people heard. His way or the highway.

Of course ADRIAN will soon come on and give us his side of the story.
