Donville Inniss – Minister of Health has accused BLP MPs of eating lunch in the lunchroom of parliament despite a decision to boycott parliament.

We are in the silly season and the standard, if we are to judge from the past, is for the public to expect lose information to spew from the mouths of politicians without serious challenge. During the silly season party supporters will seek to ‘legitimize’ information to attempt to give their side a political advantage. Given the challenges which continue to confront our tiny and vulnerable country, we deserve better from our politicians in and outside of government to manage the level of political discourse.

Those of us who try to be fair in our commentary have become fedup with the same old political barbs being tossed from one political side and then the other.  Hopefully the traditional media will join BU and others in social media to put the many unsubstantiated utterances of politicians under the microscope.

Yesterday in that august place Minister of Health Inniss revealed that some BLP members of parliament (MPs) ate lunch in the lunch room of parliament. Ordinarily such a revelation would not have raised eyebrows, however, against the background of boycott action by the Opposition it maybe viewed as bad judgement if they did. BU believes that the public should not be treated to a – yes they ate no they did not – by the supporters of both political parties. It should be a simple matter to confirm or refute Minister Inniss’ accusation.  Based on BU’s investigation so far the statement appears to be false. We are happy to correct our position if concrete confirmation is provided. The BU family has not forgotten the ‘flying a kite’ strategy by Minister Inniss that Kingsland is a location which is being favourably considered to relocate the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH).

Another bit of information which the public deserves to have clarified is the recent accusation by Prime Minister Stuart that he received a note from leader of the Opposition Arthur to ‘take’ Mia Mottley off the BLP’s hands. Given the image which DLPites suggest that Stuart deserving wears – one of being honest and exuding high integrity – the burden to prove Stuart a liar falls squarely on the back of Arthur to wash away the accusation by Stuart. Hopefully Arthur will grab the opportunity at the BLP’s mass meeting tonight (16/01/2013) to admit or deny. BU has not been able to confirm whether Stuart is a liar up to the time of updating the blog.

As the silly season progresses BU will place statements made by both sides under the public eye for scrutiny. In those cases where statements can be exposed as being false, we will apply the label ‘liar’ to the politicians who made them.

Please note that the verbiage under the picture was extracted from FB along with the image. BU’s error for not applying quotes.

  2. Deputy Leader of the Opposition has been recorded in the media challenging Inniss. He asked Inniss to provide details. BU continues to wait for Inniss’ rebuttal.

BU hopes Arthur takes the opportunity to issue a clarification about Mia and statements he uttered about her at his now infamous UWI, Cave Hill. Now that she has been received into the hierarchy of the party has his position changed?

David we all know that Owen “didn’t mean it” and deep down he probably loves Mia.
He might have been inebriated when he commented on her acceptance by the people.

Mia is a rising star and Owen is on his way to the geriatric assembly of former politicians.

  18. @David
In my opinion OSA has nothing to apologise for at that UWI response. It was a particular question posed by CADRES not OSA that invited the respondent to the pollster to express an opinion of MAM.The response was not OSA’s.What he did indicate was that MAM would need to satisfy the public(based on the cadres poll)that they can repose confidence in her, rumour notwithstanding. What, pray tell,is wrong with that.

  19. David the truth is yes Mr Rawle Eastmond did attend Parliament yesterday nothing to be doubted he did attend, what Donville Inniss spoke of yesterday is indeed honest and truthful.

    Pat,

In Barbados, the poor go to the Welfare for help NOT to the Constituency Councils. This is not what the councils were meant to be about. But we know that they were always going to be a cesspool of corruption.

And to think, this Mr Holder was on my TV coming over as a paragon of virtue.

  21. Why was the permission to hold the BLP’s meeting withdrawn so late so that an alternative venue could not be found?

I saw this coming, a DLPite posted something to this earlier this week!

“Barbados propaganda officials have admitted deploying people to engage in online discussions and post comments supporting the DLP’s policies.
The party has also confirmed that it operates a network of nearly 1,000 “public opinion shapers”.
They are assigned with the task of spreading the party line.
The tactic is similar to China’s model of internet moderators who aim to control news and manipulate opinion.”

  24. A highly anticipated Barbados Labour Party (BLP) mass political meeting organized for tonight at Heroes Square was called off earlier today because it contravenes with the laws of Barbados.

The meeting, which was to be staged in Heroes Square in the heart of Bridgetown, is off because it contravenes the Public Order Act, which prohibits public meetings from being held when Parliament is in session, Commissioner of Police, Darwin Dottin explains.

  27. I told you that Enuff , Old Onion Bag , Miller and other BLPites are just law breakers.

Imagine for eons in Barbados while Parliament / Senate is in session no political meetings are to be held in precincts of Parliament .

Yet those political rogues Owen Arthur and Dale Marshall set up a political platform …..without police permission .

It took the Police Commisioner of Barbados in January 2013 ….to make this painful revelation that a former Barbados PM of 14 yrs had contravened the Public Order Act.

  28. @What is this……….you lying fowl cock…Permission was granted for that meeting and withdrawn earlier today because the Senate was still in progress. Stupse….

  29. @what is this?

David needs to pin a liar label on you. It said that “the permit which was granted for the 7 pm meeting was revoked at 4 pm.

  30. Islandgal,

The meeting was cancelled because no permission was given thus contravening the Public Order Act.

Take up the matter with Commissioner of Police Darwin Dottin.

  36. The incident which occurred in parliament this evening with Senator Sandiford-Garner should alert us that we are almost there.

  37. I am indeed disappointed that the BLP meeting did not take place tonight. I was looking forward to OSA rebut of the (get rid of Mia Mottley) strategy as revealed by PM Stuart.

I was looking forward to OSA explain why he did not call the PAC together before he chose to boycott Parliament.

I was looking forward to Dale Marshall tell us how the oxtail and cassava meal tasted yesterday in the Parliament lunchroom ….even though he and other BLP MPs boycotted the proceedings in the House of Assembly.

I guess like Freundel says….we have to wait !

  39. BU understands Senator Sandiford-Garner exited parliament to move her car and she was assaulted by a group of men. A couple people have been arrested we are told. Let us see if it is confirmed by traditional media.

  40. But anybody could tell me the last time the Senate went beyond 5pm?

This is the 5th year of the constant BLP campaign for power assisted by Nation newspaper writers Albert Brandford, Clyde Mascoll , Ezra Alleyne, Peter Symmonds, ,Pat Hoyos, Hal Russell, Tennyson Joseph. I will bet you a million dollars that over the last 5 years , you will not find 5 examples where any of those writers harshly criticised the BLP or Owen Arthur.
Pat Hoyos who has a relative running on the BLP ticket spends every article attacking Chris Sinckler and yet he was allowed to sit at VOB as a “moderator” and spew his nonsense.
Starcom and the Nation are too close to the BLP campaign and they have tainted the image of fairness once associated with those entities. They are blatantly pro BLP. If you doubt me check the spin over the next few days_
Mascoll’s political column on Thursday, Editor Sanka Price on Saturday and Pat Hoyos usual boring predictably hostile anti Chris Sinckler article on Sunday.Don’t forget Albert Brandford cheap shots on Sunday. The Nation newspaper is lying spread eagle as the BLP prostitute this election. A shame.Unfair and Unbalanced.

The BLP shows a remarkable lack of knowledge of the Barbados Constitution.

    Pack of jokers!

  50. Enuff,

I was wondering the same thing. How comes a DLP operative can come on BU and make a comment about the Senate would be in session and a few days later, permission is pulled. Hummm! The Senate is made up of a lot of older people whose bed time is 7- 8 pm, so it was strange that they would be meeting so late.

Why did the COP not inform the BLP earlier and then given them permission to set up another place? And to think that we have some idiot come on BU saying that a party with people with BRAINS and who have been in existence for so long would break the law and set up a meeting without permission.

The silly season is upon us!
