Charles leacock, DPP

BU continues to follow the story – Rapists, Commissioner Darwin Dottin and the Integrity of the Evidence – of a poor Black man accused of raping two English visitors to Barbados. That the story has taken an interesting twist must be termed an understatement. Last week in an unusual occurrence for Court systems around the world, the two women raped appeared in open Court to argue that the man Commissioner Darwin Dottin says there is incontrovertible evidence they believe to be innocent.

To update this matter from the Barbados Court: the case has been adjourned until December 13, 2012 to await direction from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Charles Leacock. BU sincerely expects that given the extraordinary harm this story is having and will continue to have on the reputation of Barbados and its people, that decision makers are giving this matter their urgent attention. BU would be very disappointed to learn that DPP Charles Leacock has continued his weekend routine of being on the golf course at Sandy Lane or Westmorland when his urgent feedback is required to resolve this matter. Why the hell did the Magistrate feel compel to adjourn this matter until the 13 December 2012?

To those who believe it is not an urgent matter, a scan of the widely circulated UK press The Telegraph shows its lead story in the World Section as – How two British women raped in Barbados declared their ‘attacker’ innocent. The story is currently listed in the newspaper’s Top Ten most read stories.

BU has been relentless in exposing the inefficiency of the judicial system which continues to negatively impact our international business sector. Here is another example where commonsense should have dictated that the DPP, the Attorney General and perhaps the Prime Minister should have acted with alacrity to resolve this matter. Instead they have allowed this matter to gain traction in the international media.  It was widely publicised BEFORE the women arrived from England to attend Court what they were going to testify therefore ALL (DPP et al) should have ANTICIPATED how dispense swift justice given the national importance of doing so..

For chissakes!

  1. LOL @ Simple Simon
…Bushie mother used to say if Bushboy do shoite and the police pick him up, ….CALL HER!…….cause SHE wudda KILL his behind…. 🙂
….so Bushie NEVER got in trouble….

    @ BAFBFP
MAM is HIGHLY over rated….even as a public speaker. She also has one of the very worse records as a public administrator.
Bushie don’t know what Amused talking about….. He must have inside information 🙂

She has a lot of self confidence (come with a wealthy family background) and mixes easily (again privileged background…), but her VISION, values, morals, and temper suggests that she needs proper supervision…..which seems to be O$A’s position.

….also too many of her girlfriends end up in positions that they cannot handle…..pun intended.

    WRT Worrell & Birch:
    …two swallows doth not a summer make….

  2. Hello BAF

    @ Harry

    That’s BU….err

    @ Miller

I ask you again…do you really want your party associated with liars and fawning sycophants on BU who call themselves ‘friend’? But I suppose you know what you’re doing.

  3. @ BAF

“This place that I call home requires a hell of a lot more’

    Fine…where’s the T shirt?

  4. ….also too many of her girlfriends end up in positions that they cannot handle…..pun intended.

WHO are these people of whom you speak ??
CAN I have some names please ?

    JUST ASKING

  5. Wait Ross

HA HA … The Tee-Shirts. Thnx for the reminder … I faget ta mention that both Chris and Randall are David Simmonds’ people …

    Bush

Your view of Mia is as clear as daylight. It amazes me how easily people forget the troubling stuff. I give her marks as a crisis manager though, but had she done the right thing in the first place there would have been no crisis.

  6. Local press reported on the weekend that the two victims want to have an urgent meeting with the Commissioner, it will be interesting to observe if they get their wish.

  7. Hey BAFBFP
I give her marks as a crisis manager though, but had she done the right thing in the first place there would have been no crisis
    *******************
That is akin to giving the arsonist credit for helping to extinguish the flames, the prison burned down under her watch and after all the flowery public statements the Gov’t protected her by ensuring that she never had to answer any questions in the subsequent inquiry.

Crisis manager? You really like to make nuff jokes.

  8. @ BAF

    OK by me.

  9. Thnx Ross, but Sargeant got a point …!

  10. @Miller, my friend, you are a class act and we both serve a stateswoman of class, the magnificent Mia. The yapping of little dogs does not to disturb us at all. After all, only morons could possibly think that Mia is not the most respected stateswoman and politician in the country. These detractors should maybe think of a return to the dumps whence they sprang – or find some riveting legal action to bring – like suing someone for not giving enough notice of a general election. A person’s size is determined by their mind and some of the Mia detractors have proclaimed that they are small. And, Miller my friend, who are you and I to contradict them?

  11. Bow wow … No yapping going on … Mottley is nothing more than a parrot. If she stands out from among her group that may probably have more to do with the quality of group than her. Christ, have you people lost it…? What really is class anyway … Hey don’ shoot the messenger.

  12. @David. In drifting through the online version of the Nation this morning, I see, with considerable lack of surprise because he is a total jackass, that Dotty Dottin (aka Darwin the Dementor aka Darwin the Demented) has REFUSED to meet with the rape victims. Maybe instead he has decided to offer comfort and protection to the true rapist instead, in what has become traditional form for the RBPF. After all, he would not wish to ape (pun intended) Miss Kentish and have to recuse himself and the Police from the objective of the RBPF in NOT identifying the true rapist (but going T shirt shopping instead) simply because of a conflict of interest. What an IDIOT!

  13. @Amused

How do you respond that it would be improper for Dottin to meet with the victims with the case in motion.

  14. @David. You know, what we need here is for the PM to convene a COI under Frederick Waterman, so the Waterman can write a report saying that the rape victims were hallucinating during the rape and did not recognise their rapist. Then, in a reversal of his unpopular position on pitching marbles, Waterman can state that T shirt shopping was completely in order and he can absolve the “woman” officer of insensitivity and claim that she is NOT a complete moron, as we all think, but akin to Einstein. Then, after his report is published, he can stand back in amazement as the people most affected by it stage a series of protests and lampoon him variously as “Waterman the Wa*ker” or “Freddie the Fa*t”. And it will be a mere snip for the taxpayer at $600,000, especially when the taxpayer has to cough up several tens of millions to cover the resulting shortfall in tourism. And Dotty can carry on smartly with his fit of pique because the rape victims had the nerve and gall to expose him to the same ridicule he enjoys locally, internationally.

We are sinking, swiftly and surely!!!

  15. @ David. In answer to your question. Total rubbish. Do the Police question victims to gather evidence? Of course. Improper, my ass. He actually is an even bigger moron than I thought. It is an imbecilic and totally baseless claim. And we have a jackass like this as Commissioner of Police? We are surely doomed. I mean, if that total jerk is in doubt, he could meet the women in the presence of their counsel. I am sure Andrew would be delighted to meet AND to report afterwards to the press on the meeting. The international press, that is. Dotty has an agenda – and if it costs Barbados tens of millions in lost tourism revenue, why should he care. After all, it is his RIGHT!!! HE IS DE BIG MAN. HE IS DE COMMISSIONER!!!! Or maybe is affiliated to St Lucia and plotting the demise of Barbados to the benefit of St Lucia.

  16. I am bemused that a highbrow would respond to the “yapping of little dogs” and ignore the big dog that dispatched Mia with undue haste as leader of the den. The “big dog” that remarked that he gave her everything in politics including the opportunity to succeed him as leader but found her not to be up to the task.
I made a point that the then Gov’t led by the “big dog” protected her from any fallout from Glendairy by ensuring that she wouldn’t have to testify at the Commission of Inquiry and we are informed that “only morons could possibly think that Mia is not the most respected stateswoman and politician in the country”

Is there any more room in that bubble?

  17. @ Amused.

Maybe you should buy a computer for the Commish and show him how to use the internet.
Then he would understand the damage being done to the reputation of Barbados as a safe Tourism destination.

Barbados needs damage control right now.

Licks because of this story and now the Canadians (conservatives) are going after the International Business sector big time.

  18. Hants. How could I teach the Commish anything about a computer. Even CH couldn’t do that and CH is an expert. But the Commish knows everything, don’t you know. He is supreme.

“Mottley is nothing more than a parrot. .. What really is class anyway ”

she has never strike me as a parrot, but to answer ur question, what really is class anyway? it is what Motley has that you don’t, i have heard u people give her all kinds of labels, yet she continues to stand high, that is class. u throw insults her way and she remains strong, that is class, her party and the others do all and sundry to pull her down, yet on election day, she pulls the most votes. that is class

  20. @Smooth …… Not only is Mia class, but so is what you have said about her above.

  21. Barbados will soon be in need of a new commissioner of police. There is a widespread belief that the commissioner has to be a gazetted officer. Nonsense. A commissioner is basically a chief executive and any good manager who, in the wisdom of the appointments commission, suits the bill, can be appointed coimissioner.
I suggest that the Attorney General and the search party look far and wide for a replacement, rather than the small and limited pool of senior officers.
How about someone trained in criminology and management, a lawyer, someone from business? Look overseas and offer a two or three year contract to a suitable candidate.
    He should not limit himself.
