Opposition Leader Owen Arthur (foreground) and Deuty Dale Marshall (background)

As a realist it is clear to me that in order to WIN the next general election the internal BLP drama between Owen Arthur and Mia Motley must be resolved.

Each day the drama continues diminishes the party’s ability to effectively focus on regaining government from the hands of the DLP. As a BLP supporter it is time for BLP leadership and Owen Arthur to take the “GLOVES OFF” and give Barbados publicly the “REAL” reasons why MM should not and cannot lead the BLP party or Barbados … being a question of “LEADERSHIP and MORALITY” not “GENDER” as many would have you believe.

This approach against “our own” is unfortunate and will initially surely cause some heightened political pain for the BLP.  OA is the only one in Barbados with the political clout and weaponry to withstand the MM
counter attack which is sure to come.

There is a fear of reprisal component to going up against MM and her cronies that many are not prepared to risk especially in a tough economy where jobs are important.  This “cultivated” fear component which is a part of the MM political mode of operations, is in itself a factor in the reason why MM should not lead the BLP party or Barbados, NO matter how brilliant she is.

I understand the historic effort of seeking to become the first female PM in Barbados, however we expect our elected officials to put the people of Barbados “FIRST” before personal glory seeking first.

I like many welcome the day that a “woman” will lead our great nation as PM, unfortunately MM is not that woman.

  1. the more Mia continues to absent herself the more irrelevant she becomes. Let us compare Owen and Clyde to Freundel and Stinckler. I listened to Owen at the conference. I feel more inspired by him than the current PM. For policy and charting a new path for Barbados, I think Owen can lead us there. He is proven and capable.

  2. Dropping in to say the blp Annual conference speech by Owen on interlopers reminicent of Rawle Eastmond’s diabolical forces radio rant. Is Owen okay when last Dr. Jerome feel him up for temperature?

Voters saying things difficult because of recession the only people I hear calling the next election for the BLP are the ones who predicted Hutson Griffith would masscrete Mara. Wait Hudson Griffith immigrate?!? from so much mouth to invisibility.

“You have now gone from predicting an election in May 2012 to begging the PM to call an election now?”

Oh CCC! Unlike you I have no need to wear more than one mask.
The real “PM, call elections NOW” is having a good laugh at you!
I am an independent thinker and no lackey for any party.
First you accused me of saying that elections will be called in May 2012. Then you alluded to March 31, 2012 or 1st April 2012.
Now you erroneously pointed to a mask with the elections prediction date “Now” hoping for me to reveal a tribal political identity label that does not exist. Even a poor-rakey (to use a “Seethru” adjective) journalist should be able to deduce from the following statement that general elections could be called any time from now until April 30, 2012.

“That is why your boys will be calling early general elections before May 2012.”

Tell the Truth and you do not have to remember what you said or write!

That is what I said and I shall stand by it until FS proves me wrong!

Are you surprised that the dead Kingmaker had a stable of young jockeys with strong “negroid” features. One with the name “Jones” – as in the comic character- not handsome but strong in the saddle and could do a good hand job with the whip. The evil that men do lives after them to haunt their accomplices to the point of seeing and communicating with demonic forces.

You probably have supersonic hearing capability! But just in case the ordinary person couldn’t follow the script please name at least one (1) new idea’ proposal, or initiative that was offered by OSA worthy of consideration to deal with the unparalleled challenges and new economic paradigm confronting Barbados.
Please continue to address this issue since it has serious implications for the future course of the Barbados economy. The more ideas floating around the greater are the chances to influence public policy and more informed contributions to political debate and decision-making.

  8. Please, no female PM – too impressionable, unless you really want Barbados to get screwed by the world.

But remember, he has the crown! OSA wants its back!
Who needs to come up first with the fresh ideas? OSA the old conjurer or Fumble the clown, only suited for the jester’s performance in the King’s Court.

    Enuff,

5 more years in the wilderness for the BEES. Owen knows it , hence he has offered nothing new after 14 yrs at the helm.

Rawle Eastmond asked him to address the voter rigging for the BLP conference 2010 not a word from Owen. Now with spite Rawle is to be thrown to the wolves !

All of Barbados watches this saga continue.

I said so all along, I said that he was doing the suicide run for “seethru” just like a lot of present “candidates” of the Barbados Labour Party.

“Seethru” asked Sanita Bradshaw and Kerry Simmons to run in St. John but both declined.

Has the Brazil-Gol Airlines initiative worked? Where is WestJet? Why are tourist ‘arrivals’ up but spend down? If a cost-benefit analysis were to be done on Gol and Jet Blue what would be the results? Has free bus fares for school children achieved its intended objective (get children of ZR) or are the demonic forces too strong? How many communities/individuals, besides the Councillors, have benefited from the Constituency Councils? Where is the promised ‘Team Barbados’ strategy? Was the Employment Stabilisation Scheme established, and how many businesses took advantage? What about the Retraining initiative–implemented, successful, existing, non-existent? Where are the promised tax incentives for gym membership?

We ain’t going to get even a letter from the alphabet from the conniving, creepy cadogan regarding those pertinent issues and unfilled promises you alluded to. Only fire and brimstone, vicious rumor mongering and abject disrespect for the man’s private life and family. I wonder if things similar to what is stored in CCC’s cesspit brain were said about David T I wonder how he would react.
The man CCC has a “bee” in his bonnet as far as OSA is concerned. He seems to know the man’s private business down to a peeping tom “T”. Maybe he was able to “seethru” the window and observed all of this “F@#$%^g” activity going on; got extremely envious and madly wanted to take the place of both women. An acrobatic performance he has spent his young days perfecting and still readily enjoys today.

Remember CCC: He who lives in a ‘Seethru” house should not walk around naked and still expect to hide your personal asse(t)s to be hidden from view!

Just to show what type of woman THE HON MIA AMOR MOTTLEY IS, even though she knew about all his nasty doings, she never asked Hillary Beckles for a room at UWI to hold a press conference and tell the whole Barbados that he was living with his secretary.

But he did worse to her when he is no better. The Nationnews never published the fact that he was dropping off a little girl at west terrace school on mornings when his wife(Beverly) had no children.

If you want to carry on an intellectual debate worthy of attention then try comparing the two individuals’ abilities and leadership skills to take this country out of the present socio-economic doldrums and away from oncoming tsunami that could engulf Barbados and send the obsequious sycophantic hangers-on (hyperbole intended!) likes of you to suck salt.

  23. The obvious is here. CCC is devoid of rational thought. As I have said before he should take up residence in Black Rock. His ranting and raving would make him a sure candidate for that address. His inane spiel and vitriol come from a man who sees his castle invaded and who will soon wonder if he is safe . He has a right to worry, but Owen will take him out of his worries. The Dems have done their worst against Owen Nothing will suffice. The Dems MUST defend their record. they MUST give account of their stewardship. Owen is not part of that. The BLP always gave account of its stewardship to the peole. What are your promises? what is your performance?. The Dems are on trial The Dems are in the dock, the BLP too
cant wait for the next election to make some one like you a relic. You have no points to make just spewing a cesspool of waste. Depart form me you father of wickedness and get thee behind me Satan

  26. OSA has said that the BLP needs Mia so when it is imminent that the bell will be rung I expect he will crawl back to her and since I like to play up the relationship in song is she likely to say a la Aretha….

Good strolls down memory lane but with apt resonance to the current fallout in the bee hive. But it looks like a permanent divorce with no chance to kiss and make up. The sugary ole lying dog can no longer rise to the occasion and the femme fatale prefers to sing in a choir with fellow sisters with lips projecting notes in both major and minor chords.

  30. @Researcher
Call Owen at least he should know. Call David he can tell you how many he has as well. Call Fruendel he too should be able to say.. Asking anyone else would be merely speculation. Go straight to the horses’

  31. Has everyone forgotten about freedom of information and integrity legislation? The B’s fumbled with it for three terms, the D’s promised faithfully it would be on the books in 100 days. Are we now condemned to another 5 years without that vital requirement of any true democracy?

  32. I am quite pleased to know that the Owen & Mia show has been cancelled & the BLP is getting on with the real task at hand!
All this fighting, finger pointing, Yard fowling & Yahooing is coming to an end. I hope Mr Arthur’s words to those who were bent on dividing & ruling the party was taken on board & understood.

The DLP clearly are not strong enough to run this country & never gained control. They are taking the ideas of those who mean well & using them as their own. This behavior is quite concerning to most who are aware.
These people make proposals to them & they are rejected, but several months later these same ideas are heard rolling off the tongues of the same Ministers who told them that they cannot work!

My constant calls & those of others for the BLP to get it together have born fruit.
I wish them well in their mission to recapture the running of this country.
My wish is for them to be honest with the people of Barbados, to regain their integrity & restore confidence.
    Blessings.

  33. Been a while since I’ve posted. But in the words of Bill Clinton, “it’s the economy stupid”

The Mia – Owen feud is good for newspapers and rumshop talk, but, this election is going to be a dog fight at the local level based on the issue(s) that are hitting the electorate most. The DLP does not have the stellar and inspirational leadership or election platform to “flatten” the opposition. Neither does the opposition have the “cannons” to obliterate the government for its failings and “non performance” in some areas. The Mia issue will play in about 3-4 constituencies, but, Owen has been tried and tested and will still be seen as a fairly good at the national level. Once he rallies most of the ship he’ll be ok. Having said that though, his chances with Mia on board increase almost threefold. Freundel is the PM and that counts for alot in national elections. Sadly though it may also play against him in terms of time and energy.

Rest assured, the margin of victory next elections should be about 2-3 seats the most. At this current point the victory goes to the D’s. Time will tell if the opposition can close that gap.

  34. Researcher wrote “I am a reasearcher at work on a paper centered around world leaders and bigamy”.

How do you equate having children with multiple women to be bigamy ?

  35. When the DLP won the general elections in 2008, there was still major discord between David Thompson, David Estwick, Fruendel Stuart and Denis Kellman, among others, but the electorate was just fed-up with the BLP and voted AGAINST them. The same thing can happen again, only difference many voters will stay away from the polls because they still not happy with the BLP and they are certainly disgusted with the DLP. The difference betwwen the trouble between the two parties is simple, the BLP has brought their out in the open, the DLP is playing a sniper game, they are many among them that are trying to rid the party of Fruendel Stuart, but be careful, he might just pull a Sandie and left many scrambling, it doesn’t matter to him, he’s good for life at P.M’s pension, some of the ones on the border line would not even get a pension if they lose their seats.

If Mia and Arthur can present a united front to the public to the extent it quells the public’s concern about a rift in the camp, the BLP becomes a formidable opponent going into the next election.

  38. @david
This next election is not about Owen and Mia being on good terms with each other, It is about the stewardship of the Democratic Labour Party. What do I care about two people speaking to each other? How will that change the price of bread>. This is not a banana republic . You are really maximising the minimum. People want relief, People want to get out from under. How does the friendship of Mia and Owen help?. This foolishness obout MIa nd Owen being friends or appearing to put a front about being at one is for an unsophisticated and backward electorate. Pease gime me a break Think on these things

  39. So are you saying corn beef and biscuit politics is finally dead in Barbados?

  40. If Mia is this popular, she should try forming her own party and contest the elections, she has the support of peter wickham, TC, bubbles (well he or she dead), and darcy dear.

i am starting to resent Mia, BLP can press on without her. She does not compare to David Thompson’s popularity and he died and the party has continued. Just as Owen was loved and hated, Her turn has now come. Fact of the matter, she did not command the majority so get in line or be left behind. You are not bigger than any party and if you continue with your faction, Santia or some other one can replace you. You do not hold the monopoly on knowledge.

“Santia or some other one can replace you. You do not hold the monopoly on knowledge.”

Sant(i)a Klaus first has to be elected as a MP? Are you implying therefore that she will beat Hammie La the man of the masses? I know that corned beef politricks is still alive and kicking and much corned bee(f) & biscuits can be bought with the large sums of cash that can flow from the accounting books of a plantation and other boarded and gated community investments. Even old goddaddy might come forward to score a goal like pele.
But remember that people would take your financial contributions but deposit ax X in a different place in that booth.
It would be interesting if you could identify a possible replacement to MAM from the current crop of circus performers.

  42. Clyde Mascoll is the perfect replacement. That would make teh BLP into a ‘for the masses’ party and working class. Well that is the perception

  43. Does Mascoll want to be a politician or an economist?

  44. Is this question and answer?
You asked me for a suitable replacement. I gave you one. I do not know what is in Mascoll’s mind.

  45. Mascoll is on public record that he wants to be accepted as an economist when he makes pronouncements on the economy. How can he expect such if he is a politician?

  46. Many businesses in Barbados have gotten disturbed by the way the DLP is running the country, quite recently I heard that the Williams Group (who have big interest in REDjet ) are now up in arms with the government for the maltreatment given the airline. I understand, they were told one thing by the minister and then he retracted his statement and has the Company now looking to move to another base. The businesses are the ones who run the country and to put pressure on government, they may start reducing staff drastically and blame it on the government.

  47. Scout it is wiser for DLP to be careful although not discouraging with foreign investors we dont want theStandfords and Madoffs here.
You must understand there are a lot of Stanfords around as the Finance Minister stated Barbados is not a Banana Re;public and did not Fruendel Staurt face down Trinidad pm Kamla for Redjet when he warned the atm woman he can play the game too.
Redjet is acting somewhat ungrateful here Bizzy does have a track record of behaving like that when he doesnt get his way.

  48. COME ON DAVID YOUR twisted comment of nov5th at 2.47 is disengenuous to say the least in that the whole country without any bias knows that mr mascoll was clandestinely, surreptiously pushed from office to accomodate a devious mr thompson; a cloak and dagger event which could have caused him to make the ill-timed decision to join the ranks of the blp. you have a duty as a serious commentator to try not to spin this defining moment in political skulduggery in barbados.

  49. researcher do not go dowen that road about morality . if morality were an issue, then parliament in barbados would not have a quorum now or never. i understand that the father of independence fathered a child while married.
