Thank you for publishing my blog on the Library Service on April 5. If you would permit me, I would like to submit my second blog.
It is with deep regret that I have to post my second blog and I pray to God that I do not have to publish my third. I had hoped that after my first blog, the authorities would have taken the opportunity to investigate the situation and take appropriate corrective measures. Sadly, that has not happened.
- The officer mentioned in the first blog paid an individual $10,000 to build a cupboard, that by all reasonable estimates should have cost no more than $2000.00
- 5 gallon containers of paint mysteriously disappeared after this officer removed them from a branch library without the knowledge or consent of the Executive Officer
- This officer paid to a furniture repair man over $3000,00 to repair chairs. In less than 3 months, some of the same chairs broke apart, and would you believe they were sent back to the same repair man, for another $3000,00. This happens about 3 times a year
- All these people awarded these contracts, the furniture repair man, the cupboard builder, the cleaning service all live within 800 yards of this officer
- Would you believe that the Director took the official library vehicle away from the Driver Messenger and gave to this officer to drive. The officer could be seen doing grocery shopping and collecting her grand children. The Official Driver was then given an old vehicle used to carry around the tools of the general worker, i.e Weedwhacker, lawn mower as well as old grass and bush cut from various branches. To add insult to injury the Official Driver was then asked to clean both vehicles.
- The vehicle was taken from the Official Driver so that this officer could drive the Director around at the time of the late Prime Minister’s passing among other things. The library was given the responsibility of coordinating the condolence books, instead of using one of her senior officers and the Official Driver, the Director chose this same junior officer to assist her and to drive the Library’s Official vehicle. Would you believe this person is an accounting officer.
This is where it gets really weird, the Driver Messenger went on sick leave, during this time. A driver was sent to replace him, when the driver saw the vehicle, he indicated to the Executive Officer that he could not drive it. He said that he had not seen a vehicle with the gears in the handle for a long time, he was a young man. Would you believe that instead of giving the driver the official library vehicle and allowing him to do his job, the Director instructed the Executive Officer to ask Service Commission to send a driver that could drive the old van. The real funny thing is that Service Commission granted the request.
When it comes to the library CPO, the head of the Civil Service and the Ministry are all fast asleep. Well allow me to wake them up, all along we were dealing with thousands of dollars, now lets get serious. In my next blog I will reveal details of how hundreds of thousands of dollars were mis-appropriated. This scandal crosses borders , we don’t only get oil from Trinidad.
