  2. @ac I do not see why US and Castro cannot be in agreement. Castro has always supported the will of the general populace, internationally. Remember he even sent soldiers for the war in Angola, to fight the authoritarian Government?

He has supported the democratically elected Chavez Government, opposing long-standing hierarchy.

The official US foreign policy is to support democratic change, thus Obama cannot do otherwise but support this, how can they voice otherwise???

@Manwivnoname – the interesting thing about these moves is the impliactions for change, being widespread in Egypt, which has for the past number of eyars been regarded as a stable country, additionally with all of the other ‘moves’ in Tunisia etc.

I disagree that Egypt has catalysed these others, it seems that the whole thing is related.

Hence, my views on this being engineered, in my opinion not by the Muslim Brotherhood either.

They are not the only ones who will profit from turbulence in the Middle East.

  3. @Crusoe
If Castro is all for democracy .How come he does not allowed free elections in Cuba.? He has been a dictator in Cuba for all these years. Castro saying that Mubarak must go .is only because Mubarak supported and wasa friend of Israel,Not that he is supporting the outcome that america is hopingfor .

  4. Things are beginning to heat up in Egypt, the Vice President eludes an assassination attempt.

  5. Iam afraid that if Mubarak does not go as america suggest. He might become the next Saddam Hussein. For america isn’t going tolerate a dictator who is not friendly to Israel or itself.

  6. @ac
Agreed it looks possible that Mubarak could stay until he’s ready to go, but I think the USA is saying one thing in public with diplomacy to placate Mubarak, privately. He’s seen what the US do to friends turned foe (Saddam and the Taliban). Mubarak wants USA and Israel to know that he considers himself the lesser of 2 evils; its him or the Muslim Brotherhood and the US nor Israel wants the MB in power in Egypt.
    @Crusoe.
Interested to know what you define as democracy. Is a one party state that allows people to choose their representatives, less democratic than a multi party state?
Would you consider the UK a democracy when nobody votes for the royal family who hold onto prime real estate and draw rent and taxes from the population?
I agree that Castro is not with the USA on this one for the same reasons.

    Peace

  8. @matt
america has been quick to be openhanded publiclyto show support for the uprising . However of the past few days the administration has quieted their talks alot showing lest haste in trying to shove mubarak out of office. In my opinion the administration has already let the goose out of the bag and th Muslim Brotherhood has already set a strong foothold in the determination of Egypt ‘s future with or without Mubarak.

  9. BTW I think Mubarak with all his military might is going to have to make some real hard decision very soon. Ones that would affect his survival . For one if he loses whether by the uprising or through elections . The Muslim Brothers are going to have him tried for political war crimes . Then if he stays and does not continue his relationship with America the end results of him can be dire.

  10. A lot is being said about the Muslim Brotherhood in Eygpt and the role they are currently playing. Bear in mind under Mubarak this group was not recognized at all. The fact that the Vice President has been forced by people power to invite them to the table is a victory already.

Read what Wikipedia says about them.

  11. it is also note worthy that the Muslim Brotherhood condems Western philosphy and its ways of thinking. Whether or not the group condems violence is stillin dispute, However the Main concern for america would be that Muslim Brotherhood would be a threat to Isreal and the Peace accords which they have with Egypt

  12. Interesting, when earlier in this thread, I posted an outile on the agenda of the ‘Muslim Brotherhood’ which I neither got from Wiki or Fox News, I only commended Beck and Hannity on Fox News for having the courage to soundly expose the MB, as I knew about the MB, long before Beck did an excellent show on it, BUT, the Leftist, at least one of them here on BU, who has nothing constructive or rationally objective to say, only spews out childlike nonsense, is now conspicuously silent, as others are now commenting on the MB!

As the crucible of heat contiunes to boil away in the Middle East, setting the stage for Worldwar III, the elite globalist and their agenda to bring America to its knees, of which Obama, Clinton et al are just puppets, plus the Federal Reserve, another controlled ‘private’ entity, is about and has already started to put in place one of the final, DEATH strokes into the heart of the American economy, which will ultimately cause the US$ to devalue about 20% over the next two years, purposely creating ‘inflation’ by Chairman Ben Bernanki’s QE2, or “quantitive easing” a sure plan to ruin and crash the US dollar, expressly for the purpose of bringing in a NEW world order currency, to replace the US dollar, just another step towards the One World Antichrist government, which cannot* be instituted without* the collapse of the US economy!

  20. All the chaos that’s occurring in Egypt, the Middle East, Europe, China, Russia, the European Union, cannot be separated from what’s taking place within America, the recession, millions of American middle class losing jobs and fore-closure on their homes; here is a glimmer at ‘Crashing the Dollar, A layman’s guide to whys and hows of Americ’a currency destruction’ By Craig R. Smith and Lowell Ponte, Copyright 2010 Idea Factory Press.

“BEHIND the current economic crisis are more than four decades of cultural and political change that brought us today’s crossroads.”

    Rancho Mirage
“from 1971 when [President Richard] Nixon abolished gold backing of the dollar, virtually all of the growth in the Western world has come from massive increase in credit rather than from real growth of the economy” writes Egon von Greyerz, a former Swiss banker and now financial analyst for Matterhorn Asset Managment in Zurich, Switzerland.”

“The U.S. consumer price index was stable for 200 years until the early 1900s,” he writes. But from 1971 to 2010 this price index “went up by almost 500 percent.”

“The reason for this,” according to von Greyerz, ” is uncontrolled credit creation and mony printing.”

“Total U.S. debt-went from $9 trillion in 1971 to $59 trillion today,” he writes, “and this excludes unfunded liabilities of anywhere from $70 to $110 trillion.”

“During this period America’s nominal Gross Domestic Product (GDP) rose from $1.1 trillion to $14.5 trillion, but this does not impress von Greyerz.”

“So it has taken an increase in borrowing of $50 trillion to produce an increase in annual GDP of $13 trillion over a 40 year period,” he writes.”

“The ratio of America’s debt to its Gross Domestic Product, he notes, “is now 380 percent and is likely to escalate substantially.”

“The American dream these past four decades turns out to have been obtained with a CREDIT CARD whose all-consuming monstrous bill is now coming due and catching us unable to pay.”

“Perhaps this is what tha family friend in the 1967 movie ‘The Graduate’ meant when he told Dustin Hoffman’s character that his future could center on one word: ‘Plastic.”

“In purchasing power the dollar has bled away more than 81 percent of its value in far less than 40 years.”

“This drastic weaking of the dollar through both Republican and Democratic Administrations was often ignred by the media during these turbulent years.”

“And our Middle Class, the pillar that upholds and embodies American values, has found itself dragged down with the sinking dollar.”

“This is why both husband and wife must work to keep their chins above an ever-rising flood tide of expenses. Back in 1050 one wage earner could support a family, just as depicted in that era’s family TV shows.”

“But in 1950 the income tax took less than three percent of an average family’s income, and the rate of inflation wax tiny.”

“Today, one in every two-earner family is working mostly to pay higher taxes, including the hidden government tax called inflation, as well as other passed-on taxes that add to higher cost of food, fuel and every other product.”

“As President Reagan repeatedly said, his economists had identified at leasr 135 hidden taxes that increase the cost of evrty loaf of bread.”

“And when both parents must work, children come home from school to an empty house. These children are more likely to asborb their values from their peers, or from popular culture, or from public schools acting ‘en loco parentis’ “in place of the parents,” that teach the LEFT-LIBERAL values of a paternalistic state.”

The cost of giving up gold

“Here is something to contemplate. To buy the average $10,250 house in 1954 cost, in gold worth $35 to the ounce, 293 ounces of gold or 2.6 years of income.”

“In 2009 the average new $210,000 home cost 221 ounces of gold orv 4.7 years of income.”

‘In other words, in 2009 it took 80 percent more years of labour to buy a house. But it took 25 percent ‘less’ gold, because gold by 2009 had risen to $950 per ounce.”

“Suppose that back in 1954 you had purchased 293 ounces of gold for $10,250. In 2009 that gold would have been worth $278,314.28.”
(And in 2010, with gold around or above $1,300 per ounce, this golden investment would have risen to $380,900, while home prices fell.)”

“But let’s stay with 2009, the last year for which we have final numbers. Substract the 1954 house cost from $278,214.28 and this leaves $267, 964.28 as a profit.”

“Gold’s rising value in dollars would be equivalent to earning interest of $4,872.07 per year for 55 years, nearly 50 percent per year, on your original $10, 250 investment in gold. Imagine how big this would be with the magic of compounded interest.”

“This, in effect, is what President Nixon cost America when he severed the dollar’s anchor, destroying a U.S. dollar that was literally as good as gold.”

“Valdimir Lenin, founder of the Communist Soviet Union, said that they way to destroy the capitalist bourgeoise was to ‘grind them down between the wheels of taxation and inflation.”

“This is precisely what liberal presidents since Richard Nixon have done.”

    “Liberals rob the middle class

“The aim of the LEFT-liberals and so-called Progressives, with the 1913 establishment of thye Federal Reserve Board and the income tax – and continuing today – apparently has been to create disintegrating paper money…all the better to tax you with.”

“Our Nixonian nponger gold-anchored paper dollar is losing value every decade to inflation, and this is happening NOT by accident- bu by DESIGN – to those who keep their savings in politicians’ paper promissory fiat dollars.”

NOTE: It is instructive to remember, that Henry Kissinger, who is still alive, was Nixon’s Secretary of State, and one of the ‘old’ masterminds, of that era, in strategicaly crafting the plan for the New World Order, and the ultimate demise of the U.S. dollar, in order to bring IN the NEW world currency, and by severing the U.S. dollar from its anchor in gold, was one of the ways of crashing the U.S. dollar, yes, it has taken decades to come to where it is today, and the Federal Reserve, controlled by the Banking cartel, NOT the U.S. Government, with Bernanke as its present Chairmen, is doing just that, UTTER ruination of the American economy, and the demise of its Middle-class, just watch and see who it all continues to unfold before our very eyes and lives.

Question: How will all of this affect our little nation economy in Barbados.

    Go and figure it out!

  21. Yes sir!

I am ignorant…..ignorant to your dogma!!
Ignorant to your fear mongering … ignorant to you biased views and religious/political agendas.
I am however, smart enough to ask questions rather than follow blindly which has led to me being successful in my chosen profession.
You think your words or insults would ever change that?
What Christian what?!?….you are no different to the Muslims you despise…..both of you have the same rhetoric.

  22. In the past few day Obama foreign policy has beome one of wait and see. The now or as the administration put “yesterday”for Mubarak to resign has almost been deleted from their vocabulory. Howver Mubarak with the military backing as remained defiant in the face of it all. What does that say for America’s Foreign Policy. !

  23. America’s foriegn policy, is submerged in, a labryinth of deception, intreague and lies, and Hilary Clinton and the other puppet Obama, are just fronts for the wicked, evil, Elite globalist, all working behind the scenes to bring about the utter demise of the U.S. economy, after all, Clinton and Obama were/are faithful disciples of that Leftist tyrrant Saul Alinsky, they have learnt well from Alinsky how to say just the right things, in order to keep the masses of ignorant people believing they have the well-being of Americans at heart!

  24. All administrations hve practiced deceptionand lies in foreign. For whatever rhe reason. They all claim to be douing it for the good of america and the countries they support. America heralds the rights of people . Only when that right goes in agreement with what america wants. Like China and Egypt these countries have dictators who trampled on the rights of their people that is alright. cuba and other countries who don’t agree with america policies become americas enemies. so yes american foreign policy is made up in a web of lies and deceptions no matter who the president and administration is.

  25. @ ac….

    That hypocrisy will always continue….
Remember HIM Haile Selassie’s words to the League of Nations, made popular by Robert Nesta Marley in the song War?

People like Zoe shows their hypocrisy on BU when they would love to condemn groups like CAIR and criticize Obama and Clinton etc, while ignoring groups like AIPAC who are just as dangerous, with obvious agendas.

  26. @tech

Hi my dawlin. These are the same republicans who have say it was o.k. for america to go after saddam because he was a dictator and all the song and dance and drivel they meted out to the world in order to invade Iraq. Now the same Republicans singing a different tune when it comes to Mubarak. But i am enjoying watching the hypocrisy of it all .

  27. Muslim Brotherhood awakens Terrorist wing.
    By Aaron Klien

“An Egyptian Islamist terrorist organization founded by the Muslim Brotherhood is re-establishing itself amid the political upheaval in Cairo, WND has learned.”

“Both Egyptian and Israeli security officials said a group, Al- Gama’a al Islamiyya, is being reconstituted at the direction of the Muslim Brotherhood.”

“The officials affirmed Al-Gama’s al-Islamiyya serves as the de fact “military” wing of the Brotherhood, which originally founded Al-Gama’a al-Islamiyya.”

“Al-Gama’s al-Islamiyya is suspected of involvement in the 1981 assassination of Egyptian president Anwar Sadat and took credit for the 1995 attempted killing of Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak. It has carried out deadly terrorist attacks, some targeting foreign tourist.”

  28. More propaganda by Zoe….

Aaron Klein?!?…..and you want people to take you seriously?
Your slip aint just showing….its all you are wearing!!
The Manchurian President: Barack Obama’s Ties to Communists, Socialists and Other Anti-American Extremists was released in May 2010.[25] In the book, (per the New York Times blurb), “President Obama’s life and campaigns are sifted for Communist and socialist ties.”[26] The book spent several weeks on the Times’ bestseller list for hardcover nonfiction and appeared on other prominent bestseller charts, including those of Publishers Weekly and the Washington Post.[27] [4] [5] Some journalists, including from publications such as Time and Newsweek, sent emails to the author’s publicist saying they did not want to receive a review copy of Klein’s book.

You Zoe …have NO credibility, your bias is plain and shameful, while your hypocrisy has no bounds!!
Klein is a dangerous propagandist masquerading as a journalist.
Maybe his adoption of an Ethiopian child is fooling others but his agenda is plain for us to see.

  29. @Zoe:
Are you a supporter of democracy?

The shaping of a New World Order

If the revolutions of 2011 succeed, they will force the creation of a very different regional and world system.

  31. Zoe,

What you write on the reasons for the current US economic crisis obviously has merit that the underlying cause is the ridiculous ultra reliance on credit as a means of growing the US economy, much as some here have done and are still advocating to do.

However, although I agree that Kissinger is more than presented, I disagree that the current crisis was deliberate per se, but borne of ill conceived economic policy, resulting is ever increasing problems without an easy solution (easy to formulate but not palatable).

I also agree that the current multi-nation agitation seems engineered, but I disagree fully that the underlying ‘group’ is the Muslim Bortherhood. Indeed, it is something bigger and more sinister.

While the economic and political upheaval may coincide and create opportunity for mischief makers, I do not agree that the two are part of a ‘grand plan’, but that the political upheaval is a result of an opportunity seen by some group or grouping.

Unfortunately, however we look at the issue, it leaves us in a similar spot i.e. to secure our own futures to be prepared for majopr upheaval, should that occur.

Hence, my views on Barbados macro economic policy, local productive policies i.e. agriculture etc and ssecuring our borders.

Interesting too that Britain has announced removal of its warships from the Caribbean.

Is it because the believe that the same will be needed urgently elsewhere and maybe very soon???

Military assets are used in different ways in peacetime, than in wartime.

Has something stirred them into repositioning their military assets?

    Be wary, be safe.

  32. @Straight Talk ”If the revolutions of 2011 succeed, they will force the creation of a very different regional and world system.”

    ————-

I do not believe that the trsnsfer of British warships from the region are coincidence, the timing is too convenient.

It is time we consider that the Middle East on the verge of a blow up and the resulting conflict can be very serious and have repercussions for us all.

Exactly what yourself, Green Monkey, Yardbroom, myself et al have been warning about for years now.

  33. The endgame seems now very close.

Food prices being the trigger to foment anger against the now recognised totally impotent state machinery we once looked up to and respected as government.

Who shall the people turn to?……….. Ghostbusters?

No the UN and its agencies i.e. World Bank, IMF, WHO. Unesco, IPCC, in fact anyone offering a half credible solution to the disaster wrought by the very people who would purport to be their saviours.

After the trauma of 9/11 who did the US and the free world turn to?
Why the very people who failed them so badly, and who through their policies and miscalculations created the very disaster they
now were confident they could prevail against.

Mission Accomplished? His was for the puppet masters.

10 years on we can now judge his success.

We face an endless war on terror, millions of previously benign foreigners now sworn to avenge the deaths of over a million of their wives, sons and daughters all based on the lies of WMD and the minimal threat of Bush’s friend the ever elusive Osama bin Laden.

There is still only one true saviour, yourself … that is if you believe in freedom from the tyranny that is being offered as salvation.

Piece by piece we are being programmed to believe that only an outside agency can save us from these global catastrophes which threaten to overwhelm us.

The price for this safety is high ..it’s slavery again.

What’s even worse our elected politicians are so supine and being devoid of any original thought, they go along with this scheme , even lauding our local failures being selected to these one world committees to oversee the rescue plan.

It would be the greatest joke in the world if it were not so true.

  34. “..Hence, my views on Barbados macro economic policy, local productive policies i.e. agriculture etc and securing our borders.”

Well said Crusoe. I agree that we need to pay more attention to food security and increased production in that sector more than perhaps any other. There are many factors that challenge our ability to adequately feed ourselves; The fact that foreign exchange is needed for so many other aspects of our survival and development along with our high food import bill, which also requires foreign exchange. We have an aging farming population, limited land space and high land costs, water shortages; a fragile eco system, higher labour costs dependence on tourism (an extra 750,00 mouths to feed each year) and the several impacts of “climate change”.

Some people argue that if it becomes too expensive or impractical to produce enough food for ourselves we can simply import what we want. But we need to consider that the other countries are also facing the same challenges and at some stage will increase the price of exports to us and make their local food security a priority.

We will also become hard pressed to find sufficient foreign exchange to cover all the “needs” adequately.

My suggestion to encourage agriculture, better nutrition and greater food security, is to go towards a centralised fresh food purchasing system.

We can open a large, up to standard, facility and invite all growers of local food to bring their produce to this place. At the location the food can be washed, graded and redistributed to the retailers, be that supermarket, restaurant, school meals, or street vendor.

In this way prices and availability can be controlled and monitored, no more gluts. Farmers will be encouraged, as they can budget ahead based on a defined and settled market price for their produce. The farmers can be paid on delivery and the central purchasing company can look for niche markets for juice manufacturers or local companies that want to produce breadfruit flours or cereals but that could not independently source the raw material.

Haiti is still recognised as one of the biggest exporters of organic mangoes into the USA because they have a central purchasing system for the thousands of “small” people that have a couple of mangoe trees in their yard.

    With a central food purchasing system;
Hotels, supermarkets etc will need to send out less foreign exchange to maintain a consistent supply for their consumers and crop thieves will have less avenues through which to sell their proceeds of crime, as most sellers will be able to show receipts for their products.

People have told me that this has been tried before and failed because farmers did not support the central purchasing company and would sell to the highest paying customer. In this case tie in the agricultural incentives to the farmers supporting the system. Increase the cost of doing business to the ones disloyal to the program.

Other technocrats have told me that only developing countries, still dependent on agriculture for their main sources of income, use this central purchasing system, but that more developed nations move on to other avenues of earnings and leave this system behind.
I say to their detriment and that today’s challenges require a rethink of this developed, developing country thinking.

Is Egypt a developing or developed country?

    Peace

  35. Straight talk, I truly sympathize with your myopic worldview, which limits you as a ‘natural man ( de pseuchikos anthropos) to the wider scope and meaning of events transpiring worldwide, as opposed to the ‘spiritual man’ ( de pneumatikos anthropos); naturally then, your view on my alledged paranio is to be expected!

  36. Crusoe, I appreciate and understand where you are coming from; however, there is a far more sinister apect to the reality of what is transpiring, politically and economically, in the U.S, then most can even comprehend, far more wicked and evil, than you can possibly imagine.

Yes, Kissinger is a lot, lot more than presented; he is a deep seated globalist, rooted in the architecture of the ‘New World Order’ scheme of things, and I know you don’t subscribe to this, but, he is also an occultist, the DARK side of spiritual reality, to put it more bluntly, he is inspired by the foe that is essentially opposed to what is good, righteous, and honourable.

If people really understood the masterminds, of then then Banking cartel of the early 20th century, those that got together secretly on Jekyll Island, in Raleigh, North Carlonia , 1910, to workout their sinister, evil plan to create what came to be know as the Federal Reserve, which was then instituted by an act of law in 1913, and the fact, that it was the Fed that caused the Great Depression of the 1930s, not by mistaken monetary policy either, as some like to say, but when one begins the grasp the true ‘intent’ of evil behind its creation, linked to the Globalist World Order, then it will start to make sense what is really going on.

Milton Friedman, a man acclaimed to be one of the most brilliant economist, ever, along with Anna J. Schwartz, his coauthor in “A Monetary History of the United States” wrote about what exactly caused this economic tsunami that devasted the U.S, and much of the world.

In November 8, 2008, at a conference to honor Friedma’s 90th birthday, it was Bernanke, then a Federal Reserve governor, now Chairman of the Fed, who gave a speech at Friedman’s old home base, the University of Chicago, it was here that Bernanke openly admitted to Friedman’s conclusion in his great book on the Great Depression of the 1930s, Bernanke said:

“Let me end my talk by abusing slightly my status as an official of the Federal Reserve. I would like to say to Milton and Anna: Regarding the Great Depression. You’re right, we did it. We’re very sorry. But thanks to you, we won’t do it again.”

Well, to cover up the willful choices of the Fed in the 1930s, it is said that the nation’s monetary mechanism had gone wrong, which caused the Great Depression, nonsense! It is only against the secretive plans and plots of this evil, privately controlled entity, that one begins to understand what happened then, and what is NOW unfolding with the Federal Reserve and Bernanke, to bring the U.S. economy to ruination and collapse, I suppose they will blame it again, on misdirected monetary policy gone wrong, only this time around there will be no recovery, as the living HELL that will be experienced this time, will make the Great Depression look like childs play, as we now have a maze of other diabolical realities to contend with, the Middle East crisis, Iran, China, North Korea, and a world of ‘Nuks’ ready to annihilate mankind from the face of the earth; here is where Almighty God’s prophetic time-table, which has never proved to be wrong historically, for He is still soveriegn, will intervene at the Second Coming of the Lord of Lords, and King of Kings, Jesus Christ, the season, era, is at hand, let the scoffer’s look on, they won’t be laughing any longer though, waite and see!

BTW, Crusoe, I’m not referring to you as a scoffer, you are more of an honest skeptic!

  37. @ Maat,

Valid considerations on the central purchasing system, I am just wary on having ;all in Government hands’. Efficiency and all that.

On the issue of food security, you are quite correct, things ‘work’ until they fail. Lol. Then we will regret not placing agriculture on the front burner and our moves will be reactionary rather than planned.

    Zoe,

Points taken. thanks for replying. While we see the reasons for events differently, I fully agree that the world is facing an abyss, whomever is the cause.

I know that such as StraightTalk et al also see this, again my undrstanding is that they also attribute otherwise, but nevertheless are aware.

Unfortunately, many cannot see it, that business as usual is ended.

Thing is, to try to get across the meaning of ‘insulate’, uf we can, such that certain processes are put in place, albeit rather late, to protect ourselves as much as we possibly can, from outside chaos.

No action can do this absolutely, but an attempt must be made.

  38. Some interesting thoughts:

Williams Pharoah, Let My People Go!

Egypt looms largely in the Christian psyche. Many Christians, in their heart of hearts, associate Egypt today with the Egypt of Biblical times: a bastion of corruption, idolatry, and enslavement of Israel, God’s chosen people. Some American Christians, many of them who consider themselves spiritual heirs to Israel, call upon this scriptural reference when asserting the legitimacy of Israel, and supporting an American foreign policy in the Middle East that favors Israeli interests above those of Arab nations.

But this thinking is misguided in a couple of respects. The Egypt and Israel of today have almost nothing in common with their Biblical analogues. Egypt, despite its long-serving dictator Hosni Mubarak, is a modern nation, with a capitalist economy and a relatively educated population. Although an overwhelmingly Muslim country, it has played a moderating role in the Middle East. It is home to a sizable population of Christians and Jews, who practice their religions in relative freedom. This is no Egypt of the Pharos.

Israel is not the land of the Hebrews. This is not the same people who by divine intervention, narrowly escaped from the clutches of the Egyptian empire, and suffered in the desert for years. Modern Israel was created by Europe and America who, after the atrocities of World War II, acceded to Jewish demands to create a separate homeland for them – somewhere where they would never again be persecuted. Most of today’s Israelis are of European stock and many centuries removed from their origins in Biblical Israel.

Structural cause of Tunisian, Egyptian crisis — Ronald Benjamin

FEB 3 — The Tunisian and Egyptian crisis has revealed not only current state of the world economy, but has shown one of most devastating structural global disorder that has denied human beings of this countries and the world, one of the most vital aspects of Human dignity the right to affordable food which goes to the very core of Human dignity, the right to life. It is sad that the mainstream Western Media and the political elites are painting a simplistic picture, that people of Tunisia and Egypt are merely facing the lack of political freedom, without addressing the key issues that cause this crisis such as the availability of cheap money through the quantitative easing  policy US central bank that has push up inflation around the world and scarce lands used for planting commodities  to create biofuel as source of alternative oil, preventing the usage of lands to plant food, and climate change which is a consequence  of  greed of unbridled capitalism.

To put it in a nutshell the neo liberal policies of the Washington consensus is the root cause of the current crisis. The Neo liberal policy promotes macroeconomic control, trade openness, pro market economic measures, deregulation and priority for financial capital growth at the expense of Human capital growth, where its advocates believe that market mechanism alone would solve social economic problems. What is most disturbing is the pre occupation among the western political elites led by the United States, on whether a government that is friendly to Israel would emerge out of this crisis, or whether fundamentalist religous elites would take over.

This was evident when I watch the hard talk in the BBC, where the focus of the interview was whether the Muslim Brotherhood of Egypt was capable of governing democratically through lens of Western democracy. It obvious from this episode and lesson learned, that real issues that touches the very core of human dignity such as food inflation, its structural causes and remedial action are seldom debated in the Mainstream Media of the West and also in Malaysia. While politicians and those aligned to them are engrossed in becoming an high income nation by paving the way to attract the neo liberal corporations into our shores and formulating policies to suite them, are a paying scan attention to food prices going up, that is eroding the wealth of Malaysians.

The reality is 75 percent of our work force are unskilled and 34 percent earned below RM750. In the politcal sphere Santa Clause politics of spending beyond limits during by election, and moratorium of toll hike that only temporarily releaves burdens  of the people, without  paying attention  to structural reforms of on how agreements are done that would benefit the public in the long run. Therefore it vital for the Governments around the world, especially those in the south to reassert their authority, in a democratic manner to chose the national economic policies that would empower the marginalised people, where growth is measured through the prism of Human Development that creates wealth through hard work where indigenous products with great innovation are encourage that serve real human needs, such as food, medicine,  social security, environmental preservation and human aspiration to progress in his chosen vocation without having to pay sky rocketing prices due to speculation and greed.

This would required a complete solidarity among nations of the South, which is not a practical reality due to Geopolitics.Such reforms could only come from ordinary citizen groups such as the great citizens of Egypt and Tunisia, and hopefully Malaysians politicians could take heed from this crisis.

  39. Itis hard to put a real face on the Muslim Brotherhood throughout this uprising. So far they have been elusive. The question is are these people showing one sideexternally . while acting another politically that is where the division lies.

  40. @ac…

It is hard to put a real face on the Muslim Brotherhood throughout this uprising. So far they have been elusive. The question is are these people showing one side externally . while acting another politically that is where the division lies.

Can you explain what you mean by ‘elusive’?

  41. @technician

o.k. Al qeada does not hid its intent or mission there is a face to ALQeada that is Osama .While with the muslim brotherhood it like guessing or trying to exact what there intentions are towardsthe west That is why you see a flip flop kind of foreign policy coming out of the obama administration. Not one seems to get the full understanding of their intentions.

  42. THE MANCHURIAN PRESIDENT

Barack Obama’s Ties to Communists, Socialists and Other Anti-American Extremists
By Aaron Klein with Brenda J. Elliot

‘Tens of millions of Americans sense there is somthing very wrong with the president of the United States, but they don’t known exactly what. ‘The Manchurian President’ answers the question. In writing this exhaustively researched book – which is thoroughly documented with over 800 endnotes – Aaron Klein, with Brenda J. Elliot, definitively exposes just how dangerous Barack Obama really is as America’s president and commander in chief. Among the book’s chilling findings:

    * Obama’s deep ties to an anti-American fringe nexus instrumental in building his political career, some members of which are helping draft White House policy

    * Obama’s extensive connections to ACORN and its union affiliate, includng much new information not previously documented elsewhere

    * Extremists exposed in the White House, including top czars and communist-linked Valerie Jarrett and David Axeirod

    * Obama’s healthcare policy pushed and crafted by extremists

    * Obama’s deep association with the Nation of Islam

    * Obama’s ties to terrorist Bill Ayers much more extensive than
    ever previously disclosed

Of course the Leftist* ideologues that support Obama don’t want these hard facts of evidence to be exposed, rather than deal with the truth of the Obama’a radical leftist agenda, they resort to ‘ad hominem’ attacks, on those who hold to the traditional values of constitutional adherence, which is being erroded rapidly.

This most thoroughly researched book, with well documented facts, is a thorn in the heart Obama’s agenda.

Another extremely well written book, “How Evil Works” by David Kupelian:

“David Kupelian’s new blockbuster ‘How Evil Works’ – subtitled ‘Understanding and Overcoming the Destructive Forces That Are Transforming America’ – the best-selling author of ‘The Marketing of Evil’ probes the ancient question of evil through a modern journalist’s eye, once again demonstrating his uncanny knack for demystifying complex, elusive and intimidating subjects with fresh insights into hidden mechanisms of seduction, corruption and power politics. Diving into today’s most electrifying news stories – from terrorism and school shootings to high-profile sex scandals and political dysfunction – Kupelian sheds light on the most vexing questions of our era.”

    Voices from the past

“The foundation of our national policy will be laid in the pure and immutible principles of private morality…the propitious smiles of Heaven can never be expected on a nation that disregards the eternal rules of order and right which Heaven itself has ordained…”
    -George Washington

‘To say of what is, that it is, or of what is not, that it is not, is true’
    Aristotle- Metaphysics- 1077b 26

    So it be!

  43. On this same thread, I posted on Feb 4, @9:11AM, the stated “Muslim Brotherhood Credo”

“Allah is our goal, the Prophet is our guide and the Quran is our constitution, JIHAD is our way, and DEATH for the glory of Allah is our greatest ambition.” emphasis added.

On Feb 3, on this same thread, I posted from “An Explanation Memorandum on the General Strategic Goal for the Group in North America” of the Muslim Brotherhood, along with its Phrase 1-5 assessment of its primary objectives so far.

ac, therefore, how can you say, “While with the Muslim Brotherhood it like guessing or trying to exact what their intentions are towards the west.”

There is no guessing about the Muslim Brotherhood, as their radical Islamist agenda towards the West, JIHAD is emphatically clear from within their very well documented intent, which is already well established in America through CAIR, all well documented in America.

Obama refused to give a direct answer to O’riely a few nights ago, when pressed on the Muslim Brotherhood, why did Obama aviod a direct answer?

    Go figure!

  44. Well ther seem to be different conflicting views about theMuslim Brother Yours(Zoe) is among several of them on websites . Not all seem to be of the opinion that the Muslim brotherhood are extremist. As far as they role in the u prising I haven’t heard them use or recommend violence in the overthrow of the Egyptian government or even use antiamerican threats or slogans This would have been the perfect time. Don’t you think.?

  45. ac, You et al obviously don’t understand how these clever Muslim Brotherhood Islamist operate, very covertly, well educated, just like those at CAIR, quietly infiltrating core U.S. agencies, with the ultimate JIHAD to come; Egypt is no different, these MB big-wigs will NOT at this stage of the uprising, spout their inherent desire to control Egypt, if they can gain control through the so-called process of democratic elections, THEN, they will go about bringing to reality, an Islamic [caliphate] state under Shariah law; all of which IS their clearly stated ultimate agenda, its all there, as discovered in their secret documents.

  46. @ac…..

Could it be, that the MB has no intentions?
Is it possible that the MB are wrongly being accused in this case?…..just asking.

I said in an earlier post that Obama was to be interviewed by O’Reilly just before the Superbowl game and Zoe must have been salivating…..true to form, the Christian Right Wing Zealot did not disappoint!
Fox News……lmao…. a politically motivated Christian must be in a state of confusion daily.
PoLIEtics and ReLIEgion…..what a dangerous mix!!

  47. The man wiv no name!! Avatar
    The man wiv no name!!

Tech, how’s d muslim gal! Why u good people waste ur precious time writing this junk when u know full well it’s not going to make the slightest difference to what happens over there, eludes me.

  48. @Techie
They must have intentions for they have openly voiced their opinion in seeing Mubarak resign. However they have not clearly stated what role they would have in helping to form a new govt. The jury is still out onthat.

    @ Zoe

in your above comment. Can you tell in what countries in the middle East that the Muslim Brothers have had a major political role ?

  49. The signals that the MB is sending right now is confusing and intentional toward Egypt and the west. I do not gree that Obama would rather see a total extremist Muslim group take control of Egypt. That would cause major problem for Isreal which america would not tolerate.that kinda of thinking initself does not make sense. It is disastrous!
