On the 27 May 2008 BU published a blog titled Sir Richard Cheltenham’s Vanishing Act In The Jippy Doyle Affair. We were higly critical of Sir Richard Cheltenham for the role he played in frustrating the system which saw the Jippy Doyle Case delayed for seven long years. It must have been gratifying for the victim of the rape when he was today unanimously found guilty by a jury of his peers comprised of five women and four men.

The BU household can only sympathize with the 13 year old victim at the time. The mental disequilibrium she must have suffered in the intervening seven years we can only describe as undeserving. We are told that Jippy Doyle has been remanded to Dodds where our new prison is located. We take this opportunity to urge Chief Justice David Simmons to initiate an investigation into why this case was stretched-out over seven years. We also would encourage the victim to initiate legal action against the relevant government entity to redress an obvious wrong.

There is another famous case in the local court system which is approaching one year, the case of Roy Morris will be monitored in the blogosphere to ascertain if it follows the path of Jippy Doyle. In light of the discussion around Barbados about corruption in high places, we are expectant that several other high-profile cases will feature in the coming weeks and months.

Justice delayed is justice denied.

    I DO NOT KNOW JIPPY DOYLE
    BUT I UNDERSTAND THAT HE ONCE ANSWERED TO A JUDGE FOR SOMETHING HE DID, AND HE SERVED A PRISON TERM.

    THE COMMENT ABOVE IS MOST INSENSITIVE AND INJUST, AS SO MANY PERSONS IN THIS WORLD HAVE COMMITTED GREATER SINS AND ARE STILL ON EARTH …..AND IN THE FINAL ANALYSIS WE ARE ALL SIINERS ACCORDING TO THE DICTUM OF ROMANS 3;23 AND IT IS VERY CLEARLY STATED IN HEBREWS 9;27 THAT IT IS APPOINTED TO MAN ONCE TO DIE AND AFTER THAT THE JUDGEMENT

    HAVE YOU CONSIDERED THAT YOU WILL MOST LIKELY YOURSELF APPEAR AT THE JUDGEMENT SPOKEN OF IN Revelation 20:11-15? –A JUDGEMENT THAT JIPPY WILL NOT APPEAR AT IF HE WAS INDEED WASHED IN THE BLOOD OF THE LAMB?

    Doyle’s best friend shocked by death

    A man who described himself as the best friend of Pastor Dr Jippy Doyle said he was shocked when he heard reports on Wednesday that he had died of COVID-19 and that he was not vaccinated.
    Tony Darnley told the Weekend Nation yesterday that he immediately went on his Facebook page and declared that Doyle, 52, a once popular televangelist, was indeed vaccinated.
    “I wasn’t there with him but I could tell you what he told me a couple weeks ago. He told me he had to take it,” Darnley said, pointing out that he and Doyle, who he referred to as “Doc”, spoke “almost every other day” and “he tells me things that he don’t talk to nobody else about”.
    Pressed further, Darnley said: “I cannot remember if he had told me where he went for the vaccination but I remember he told me he had a little soreness to the arm.”
    Of Doyle’s death, he said he was still in shock since the last time he spoke to him, he was in good spirits and awaiting the bus to take him to the Harrison Point Isolation Facility in St Lucy.
    “About six or seven days ago I called him and he told me he had some bad news, that he test positive. I called him the next day and asked him how he feel and he told me he had a little fever.
    “The next day I called him and asked him what’s going on and he told me he waiting for these people; they supposed to come and pick him up and take him up the road. We talk a little bit more and that was the last time I heard him.”
    He added: “I messaged him yesterday morning (Wednesday), not knowing that he had passed. I didn’t get a response. I only saw one tick [on the phone]. Then I was listening to the news and I heard a 52-year-old former televangelist had passed away from COVID. From the time I hear that, I say it is ‘Doc’.”
    Darnley said he also received a text message from an associate confirming the pastor’s death.
    “I was shocked. I was like, I can’t believe this, just four days up the road. He had no comorbidities, he didn’t use to smoke, he didn’t use to drink, he wasn’t sickly, so I don’t know. He just died just like that and on top of it, he vaccinated, according to him.” Darnley said Doyle, founder of Dominion Life Centre, which has been in operation for three decades, had strong views about the COVID-19 pandemic.
    “He talked to me and told me he didn’t believe in the whole vaccine thing and the COVID thing, but he had to take the vaccine because people have no choice. He said they telling you it’s not mandatory but it is mandatory because if you don’t take it, you can’t do anything.
    “He told me he take it
    because he had to travel and so on. He actually told me the Bible talk about these things.”
    Of Doyle’s personal life, Darnley revealed that the pastor lived with two of his church members who were like family to him.
    Doyle was released from prison in 2011 after serving three years for indecent assault of a 13-year-old parishioner. The Court of Appeal had reduced the charge from the original one of rape.
    Darnley said when Doyle was released, he had a different take on religion.
    “When he came from prison, he wasn’t so much into the normal way of religion – preaching about Christianity. He was actually into spiritualism. He would mostly go to work and interview people for consultation at his office and give people counselling.”
    Darnley said he got backlash from some people who took to his Facebook page and criticised him for posting that Doyle was vaccinated, but he had chosen to keep the post up.
    “I didn’t even expect that kind of response. People said I want locking up. I honestly didn’t think about that when I first posted the message. I was just reacting to me feeling like, how he died when he was vaccinated?
    “I am angry and shocked because . . . if he could go up there and die just like that, it got me scared to even go up there.”
    Darnley described Doyle as a very “private person”. He said the former minister came to Barbados from St Vincent at a very young age and his wife and two children lived in the United States.
