Both fares quoted include all taxes and charges and are the lowest available online as at 15th December 2007. Is this the price of Caribbean unity and the Caribbean Single Market and Economy?

  1. Adrian Loveridge,

    You insufferable white idiot.

What does the price of an airline ticket from ONE American airline flying to Barbados have to do with Caribbean unity and the Caribbean Single Market and Economy?

Have you gotten rid of all those MOSQUITOES which your guests at Peach and Quiet are constantly complaining about?

Are you aware that the days of slavery and colonialism are over?

You and your racism are NOT WELCOME in Barbados.

Being white and British does not give you any right to be some sort of overlord over Barbadians.

    Stupid joker!

  2. Carl Drakes

“You and your racism are NOT WELCOME in Barbados”

    Ditto for YOU sir!

This airline ticket price is very relevant when you consider that it is just about the same price to travel to Trinidad, which is only 90 miles away (the cheapest fares being good old British Airways!)

The number of monied (and some not so monied) Barbadians who travel to Miami to buy all their christmas fare is a MAJOR drain on the Barbados economy. Something has to be wrong when the savings earned can far exceed the airfare!!!!

I dunno the answer, but this cannot be right.

  3. Carl Drakes AKA NOELESS LYNCH,
You know what you as, no amount of abusing of Mr Loveridge will save your miserable stink as you complete idiot.

He has maybe even more right to speak onbehalf of the citizens of this island than you do at least he has shown a love and an understanding of the industry in which he works this is more than we can say for you as you have been a total MISERABLE FAILURE in the post of Misister of Tourism.

How dare you accost Mr Loveridge in the manner as you have done, who are you ? and who do you think you are ? You need to learn manners and humility before you attempt to open that garbage bin for a mouth.

  4. Wishing in Vain,

    You are quite a baboon.

Does the Minister of Tourism in any country set the prices of tickets for American Airlines?

Adrian Loveridge is an idiot. The two of you baboons should both check into a mental asylum.

    P2

  5. This is what it has come down to, it is easier and cheaper to fly to the good ole US of A than to visit Caricom. Another reason to dump the BLP crooks!

  6. P2

It is not the cheapness of the American Airlines flight that is the issue, it is the extortionate cost of intra-caribbean travel that is the thorn in our sides.

THIS my friend, the Hon Noel Lynch does have some control over! (Or he would do if he wasn’t such a clown)

  7. I think David just forgot to put the airfare comparision I emailed, which showed a return airfare to St. Kitts from Barbados with LIAT that costs BDS$1,029.98 for travel in the same period.

The point being is that Intra regional travel is being made so expensive as to dissuade people for spending their money within the Caribbean.

On the subject of ‘our’ Minister, I watched his address to the party faithful on BLP TV Sunday 9th December, and its interesting.
dripping with gold, bombastic and clenched fists seem to be the ‘style’.

  8. How can a group of countries hope to become a single entity if their citizens cannot afford the fares to enjoy the supposed benefits.

As for free movement of labour, the only freedoms I’ve seen are granted to politicians, journalists, musicians and graduates.
Not a mixture of trades with a track record of adding value, quite the reverse.

  9. The Minister of Tourism AND CIVIL AVIATION very much has a role in the high air-fares in the region by stupidly approving and calling on our taxpayers to fund the LIAT fiasco. And Barbadians will pay twice – in air-fares and repayment of LIAT’s loan!

Lynch is a total clown. And Barbados will pay dearly for his pompasetting for the past 14 years!

  10. this is interesting

  11. The advertisement by American Airlines in today’s Nation clearly states that it does not include taxes. Hence why there is a * after 677 and the 991 quoted for New York.

Just checked AA.com, December 22nd to January 10th to MIA is 321USD without tax. Tax inclusive is 449.90USD.

JFK is as low as $356USD via SJU going and direct returning. It is $432USD direct return. The 356USD fare is 497.10USD tax inclusive.

Get your facts straight Adrian and stop insulting the rest of us.

  12. Adrian Loveridge Avatar

    Jay…

They must have printed and delivered a special copy just for me then, as my Nation states:

    All taxes included
    BBBD 677*
    Barbados to Miami

The * refers to travel conditions and dates.

    Try another one!

  13. OFF TOPIC

    FYI

Stokes and Bynoe Ltd. has bought out Food Service Products Ltd. of Brittons Cross Rd. Food Service Products Ltd. will relocate to Stokes and Bynoe Ltd. HQ in Wildey, according to General Manager Michael Mayers.

The sellout to Trinidad continues without letup.

Old man Mayers worked all his life building up Food Service Products Ltd. almost as soon as he dies the son could not wait to offload it.

    That is children for you.

With this new aquisition Stokes and Bynoe Ltd. is now poised to beat into the ground another Barbadian company, Firgos Ltd. Let us see how long Firgos Ltd. survives the coming assault on it from the new Trinidad owned Food Services Products Ltd.

    This will be interesting.

    Loveridge,

You are nothing but a pathetic white fool.

As someone said already, “massa day done”, or SINCE YOU DON’T SPEAK BAJAN, the days of slavery, colonialism and white racial domination are over in Barbados. Any minister of government, just like any black Bajan, is free to wear whatever gold jewelry they want. We will not be dictated to by the likes of petty-minded white racist idiots like you whose slave-owner mentality belongs to an era of 200 years ago.

Unlike Wishing in Vain, there are many Bajans who won’t be licking your backside, but you can sure as hell kiss ours.

    BRITISH FOOL!

  15. Anonymous, RE: Firgos,

    Another close-minded fool.

Perhaps if you spend more time studying business and less time engaged in idle gossip you would be better off.

People like you belong in the back of some country mini-mart weighing potatoes, so that the public can be spared from being exposed to your ignorance.

  18. Go to AA’s website. According to what I read in the fine print, government taxes, sept 11th fee etc is not included.

    Learn to read Adrian.

Another baboon. Is LIAT the only airline servicing the Caribbean?

You’ve been feeding off of Ian Loveridge’s piss for too long.

    IDIOT!!!

    What a stupid LIAR!

This is the LIAT web site…

    http://www.fly-liat.com/

I just entered a round trip flight from Barbados to Trinidad leaving on 16 December 2007 and returning on 17 December 2007. The LIAT price is US $129.

Since when did US $129 get to be “just about the same as” BDS $677 (or US $338)?

    BRAINLESS!!!!

  23. Large international airlines such as American Airlines and British Airways can always leverage their greater number of routes to occasionally offer extremely low rates on certain routes which are serviced by smaller national or regional carriers whose limited number of routes makes them unable to compete with the lower prices.

This is normal in any competitive business environment.

Only a frustrated and FRAUD like Adrian Loveridge would come here trying to look for fools who are ready to swallow any political rubbish and personal envy which he spews out.

  26. Please note: Carl Drakes, P2, Kouva, and Moore are all the same people.

  27. ha ha ha ha haaaaahhhha David is bUnderground correct about those labels? or they are and we should also include his label? 😀
Wow potential case of one person identifying the need to post as 4 or 5 person. Can we expect the same intent when it is time to vote?

  28. Adrian Loveridge,

You are correct on the above, the price DOES include taxes. I was trying to get to Trinidad mid-last week for 4-5 days the tickets would have cost me 2 weeks ago around 550 and within the last week around 667. Liat was a little cheaper the Caribbean Airways. From Tues all flights from Bar to Trini were gone, booked solid no flights were available on Liat Car.. Airways, or BA. I have been to Trinidad about 9 times or so. Jan 2006 i paid 310 for a flight on BWIA.

If I have to pay that kind of money to travel I could as well save a little more and travel to the US. That is what I will be doing next year, because of these high prices I have decided not to travel this year at all. I believe that Caribbean travelling should be around 200-300 dollars. (all more for jamaica etc. because of distance) We can have no caribbean unity if we cannot afford to visit our caribbean brothers and sisters.

To get a good price on Liat you have to book like 2 months in advance. If you change it to travelling trinidad 2 barbados you realise that they have more “cheaper seats” than us and for longer periods, in a flash ours go to US129.

  29. Moore, Carl Drakes, P2, Kouva, anyone who travels knows is US129 times2 (going and coming, or where you planning of staying in trinidad add taxes of US59.60 and US38.60 which totals US356.20 OR BDS712.40
That would be your trip to Trinidad. (You may have been lucky to get a US106.00 leaving trindad to Barbados then is would have been $329.75 USD OR BDS661.50

Please try to argue with facts and not with arrogance and racist talk. I am only interested in truth and facts, not lies and cheap political BU** SH** It only makes you cause look bad. With prices like those give me AA anyday. Oh I think that from Jan 1 american visa applications will now be US131 or something like that – glad mine has a few years left in it.

  30. Adrian
If what Untertaker claims is correct, and that LIAT is booked solid at these high fares, then surely they are justified economically. This is not to say that intra-Caribbean fares are not too high generally, though, and it certainly has curtailed travel plans for many over the past few months.
As for the comments written above, I can only state that if they show the extremes of ignorance and intolerance, and should surely work against the authors, rather than in their favour. Brainless.

  31. To: Carl Drakes and the Mottley Crue,

Why do you all insult Andrian Loveridge as you all do? Just because his comments make the Minister of Touism look bad?
I am Black as night (and proud about it), but there is no need to poison the air with rascist invectives. It devalues what you have to say.

  32. Foolishness, very well said, you have my full respect.

  33. If nothing else, it displays the disconnect between the politicians and the people they were elected to serve. So distant are they, that the race card has to be drawn in a desparate effort to re-connect them to the people.

Politicians, political hopefuls and their lackeys are quick to descend into the gutter to drive home a point, or conversely, to distract the people from the truth.

What galls me is that after 30+ years of access to free education, politicians seem to believe that the populace readily accepts their half-truths, blatant lies and limp-wristed excuses for their actions. If nothing, personal attacks, racist and other assaults cast further doubt on their credibility.

After all, we as educated people should be able to deduce fact from fiction.

  34. American Airlines is doing what any other profit oriented entity would do – try to make more money. If we in the Caribbean choose to “kill ourselves”, who can we blame? Caribbean unity sounds lovely…not too sure when it will happen though.

  35. Fares for SVG from Barbados for next week are as high as Bds$575. Less than 2 years ago the fare was about $187 plus airport tax. These fares are a serious threat to regional integration.

LIAT just came from a competition with caribbean star, they need to make profits for what was lost, caribbean star was operating at a loss too, they had no choice than to merge with liat, its just as simple. I dont mind the ticket fares but i think liat is preparing for the next second competition, but i will alwasy fly on them because their air crew is the most experienced .
